Turns out a new genuine black tool cover from honda is under 20 quid. And doesn't have the weird texture. So I've ordered one. I think the said panel has been replaced or resprayed at some point as it should be smooth like all the other panels regardless of the colour. Well I guess u can use all the paints for future projects. At least the exhaust cover came out nice. xxx

Still got the bandit buddy ? I’ve just acquired a 98 1200S, same colour as yours with 26k on the clock, fairly original bar the rentec rack (same as yours) a scorpion silencer and some renthals… It also has a metallic pink bikini fairing and tank, not entirely sure what that’s all about but it’ll get sorted at some point… Riding for 34+ years now and this is my first bandit, why I didn’t do it sooner I’ll never know, far more comfortable than anything else I’ve owned over the last couple of decades… Getting too old for all this head down/r’se up stuff now… 👍
@JustinWallace-ky9dm No , it went a few years back. There's been a few bikes since. Currently a Crf250l. Too old and knackered to push big bikes around now 😪

Not sure why I'm doing this but I'm sure it'll all make sense in the end. Seat is good and comfy now ( compared to standard) it's still uncomfortable compared to a road bike of course. 👍✌️❤️

That was the river Anchcolme wasn’t it. There are some interesting bridges over it. When I lived at North Kelsey I could go through the back roads and cross the river towards Hibaldstow on my way to the Sugar Factory. It was a good pushbike shortcut, but I did go over in the car once, there were no signs with weight limits!
Yes it was although I live between 2 ancholmes One looks natural on the map one looks dead straight man made.I really need to findbout more. I live on Carr island between the 2 ancholmes. Tbh the whole river looks dead straight from source apart from where it splits around me . 😮
@@springy-2112 I think the newer bit (the straight bit) was built to improve land drainage, the wiggly bit is the original river. I say newer, but if I remember right it was done in the 1700s! It splits in two at Brigg as well, part of Brigg is a sort of island.
yes I'm slap bang in the middle of the Carr Island . I didn't think the straight bit looked natural. That explains it. I did find it odd that both rivers either side of me had the same name. Shows how much notice I take. Tbh, I've only been into brigg town 3 times since I've been here 15 months. 😅
@@springy-2112 my first place was a maisonette on the sugar factory site. British Sugar charged me £3.50 a week rent. We drank in one of the pubs in Scawby Brook. I bought my first house in Broughton, before we moved to North Kelsey.
Broughton seems to be getting bigger and bigger. I go there for fish n chips. pass about 4 chip shops on the way. Also I go to coop in Broughton having passed all the supermarkets in brigg . I maybe should have moved to Broughton? mind you for Chinese I still go to Scunthorpe takes about an hour all in. Strange with all the amenities in Brigg I still go elsewhere. 😊😊

Yes, it looked like a Chinese bike with the new graphics. I need to find something subtle. The original graphics were really scruffy close up. So I would have removed them anyway. Need to think about this. 👍✌️❤️
Every cloud, looks better without those you were intending on fitting, plus I think it would have devalued the bike.

Dave,Yes it's cheap enough for me to go a bit mad with the aesthetics. And not worry if I cock it up. Very simple to put back to stock if necessary. I think the seat is more comfy, but I haven't ridden it yet. I don't think it can possibly not be better than the wooden horse original! ( that was a strange bit of prose) double negative , normally I prefer a triple entendre 😂
OOh, now that looks really nice and it's got to be more comfortable for sure 🙂 Looks good against the blacked, previously white tool box and panel. Bits for these are cheap enough eh 🙂

Hi springy just a quick v-strom question what is a good way to lift the as end off the floor so i can do work to the rear center stand and its bolts does it need a center stand jack as in through the rear swing arm bolts etc any adice would be appreciated
Hi Simon, a simple paddock stand would be good. I've had a universal one with adjustable supports fir different widths of swing arms. They just cup under the swing arm and lift the rear leaving room to work underneath . I have a centre flat jack lift thing but it stops you getting to the sump and centre stand etc. A padfock stand cost about 30 pound . You can get a front and rear set for not much more from ebay or amazon. Hooe thus helps. Cheers ,ride safe 👍 ✌️❤️

@DukeDyson I hope with a gel.pad it's going to be more comfortable. I've got some matt paint for the toolbox cover.I don't think the texture underneath is original. The panel was acting strangely. Not like the exhaust side. I'll fix it somehow. 🫣 👍✌️❤️

I like it thought about the 300 for myself but in Thailand i spend 95% of my time on roads . i will see how i feel when i retire and spend more time in Thailand . Glad you are enjoying it nice that it will cruise at 70 . Cheers
Yes it should cruise happier when I change the front sprocket back to 14 teeth. I discovered the 13 tooth one yesterday, a common mod. Just ordered a bunch of service stuff and the sprocket. It's not due but it's been years not miles since its last one and I like to start a fresh. ✌️❤️👍

They certainly are a great fun little bike buddy and mine is still virtually stock. I fitted a pair of actual Honda handguards, which were quite hard to come by; they shouldn't be as I think they're fitted as standard on the 300, and a rack. Apart from that the only change I've made is to remove the saddle's strap. Cheap and versatile, it's far more agile than I am which may explain why I've fallen off it a few times 😄 It's fine just as it is 🙂 Big love to you brother
I've been looking for honda handguards. I didn't think of the 300 stock ones. Great info buddy. I've ordered a bunch of service stuff. It's overdue on years not miles. And I want to start all fresh with it. Got a standard 14 tooth front sprocket coming. It's got the 13 tooth mod on it. Fine for most lemmings but not for me. I think people just automatically do these " performance " mods without even thinking. Or just to be like every other owner who can't think for themselves. Any way I'm really getting into the nitty gritty of it now . Surprising how much abuse / neglect you can find on a 1300 mile bike! Nothing bad just surprising. I can tell it's definately spent most if its life off road, it has the scars to prove it. Which is fine that's what it's for. Cheers Dave, hope you are doing well brother. Peace and love 👍✌️❤️

@@springy-2112 small bikes are fun if u think your crf is small try a msx 125 not for everyone but love mine about the town can beat them for mpg about 120 to a gallon . I also have a xj 900s for long distances yet another great bike being shaft drive

Yep, i discovered the common 13 tooth front sprocket mod has been done so i will put it back to a stock 14 to give it an easier time at higher speed. People dont believe that Honda figured out the best gearing for all situations. 🤔✌️🧡
I bet Redbourne feels different from when I lived up there when the A15 went through. I’m not into modification unless there is a real need.

Between you and Chris at Bikervation I took a liking to it over the years. Had it mulling around in the back of my mind for ages. It'll suit my needs now, and should be fun . It was quite a challenge to find one that's almost stock, just a rack which I'm keeping . And a few bad accessories I've already removed. No silly exhaust or chopped up airbox etc! Your words on your last crf video " it's just fine as it is" made me smile. Well said Sir. More to come on this one, I'll get some miles done. Peace and love buddy ✌️❤️

You are very welcome. I don't think I mentioned in the video the plugs are very low torque maybe 11nm. they will snap in a heartbeat if you do them up like your average car plugs. I know this because I snapped one! Luckily it didn't fight me too much extracting it. It was my own fault for not checking the manual . Good luck with the bike I'm sure you can make it much better. ✌️♥️🤗
