    I thing build a single Mega structure 1mile² would definately stand the test of time. Build them 50 to 60 stories high, apartments of all sizes and different income levels, the building would have schools for kids, gyms/ workout places, restaurants, grocery stores, retail shops, hospitals, dental, movie theaters, mass transit access, car garages, open air parks and recreation areas, rain water capture, every floor has multiple trash bins that have no bottom to them(trash shoots), robust safety(fire/water/electrical etc.), foot patrol police on every level (or armed security guards), public area security cameras (monitored 24/7 by on site operators) no AI surveillance/facial recognition, and so so much more.

    That's why you get artist like me to design cities. Writers, artist, world builders. We're very good at doing that. Can we build cities like this today? No I don't think so. But already we discovered new elements. We have 3D printing of Organs And other body parts, and a bunch of other stuff. My point is tech and new discoveries is always going to improve or be discovered. And we will get there.

    A cyberpunk city is still not quite fully done as it represents a couple themes that really give them their domineering presence. Namely 1. Density 2. Sprawl 3. Poverty, inequality, violence, depravity. All of these sort of combine into the same theme to create this place that is almost always portrayed in cyberpunk media as undesirable and as quoted from 2077: “the worst place to live in america” . However, there is a certain charm that these themes have when all combined. It’s the most glamorous, but also the most primal version a city can take. One filled with things to do but also full of wonder and those neon lights making one feel pretty comfortable. An eyecandy city that will shred you apart if you dare to get near it. Still won’t change my opnion that a megacity is my favourite type of city

    People don't understand that these concepts, commonly taken from movies and art, are not coming from the minds of scientists but from writers and artists with very little technical knowledge of their subjects. These are then targeted towards people who also don't have the technical knowledge to grasp the realism of the concepts and that breeds unrealistic expectations of the future. If you had a time machine and brought back a teenager from 1989 who had just walked out, wided eyed, from a screening of Back to the Future II and showed him the actual future, not just of 2015 but of 2022, there is little doubt he would be sorely disappointed.

    It’s almost like architects plan something out as they build it. If you want to go higher you shore up the building underneath it and make certain the foundation can handle the increased load. With futuristic modular buildings made from lightweight, dense materials it’s extremely possible, and in fact probably the way humanity will go in the next hundred of so years. Especially in places like India, Tokyo and currently China.

    We can live fine in today's cities and do not need vertical cities NOW, but in meanwhile future with population exponential growth we will be forced to live in "cyberpunk" world. Also we do not know what may be our future needs, so maybe there will be other purposes in building such cities. Tourist attraction is enough reason to build such city even for today. Also people surely will find solutions for today's problems of such cities, like faster and more accessible public transport, flying cars, shuttles and delivery drones.

Anyone took a 1970 & 1980 Person and time Travel them here today they believe whole Heartly they are in a Cyberpunk world. because they never seen anything like it. in the Eyes of 1970\1980 and the future they dream of.

    I dont think gravity is the most influential role here, as in burj khalifa’s case, we can build as high as over 800 m n still obey the laws of gravity, architects in the future will easily come up w a structure that can go high without opposing gravity, i think whats really stopping us from doing this is the purpose, why should we build these high structures if it doesnt serve any significant use? whos going to take care of them?

    • @sebastiaomendonca1477
      @sebastiaomendonca1477 Год назад

      You answered your question. Burj Khalifa serves no practical purpose too. It exists for publicity, not to be a good building

  • @thebigXgaming
    @thebigXgaming 2 года назад

    It is possible.... but you're forgetting the key word for all of the advancement and that is "purpose" what is the purpose for all of these buildings? and that is to house and occupy billions of people due to over population, the world isn't over populated yet so there is no need to build massive structures.. as for vertically there is still no purpose for building high buildings, is it possible yes with the right foundation and structural integrity yes... but the relevancy for high buildings is limited by the amount of access we have to high places, simple we don't have tall buildings because we don't have flying cars to get us there so there is no purpose/ need for them... and everyone can't afford a personal helicopter

    • @-TranNguyenMinhKhoi-
      @-TranNguyenMinhKhoi- 2 года назад

      building higher has plenty of problems. It not about we cant build but imagine thousands of people pouring out of a building at 5pm, the massive issues when dealing with water supply, insane amount of energy it uses, coping with a staggering amount of trash

    • @thebigXgaming
      @thebigXgaming 2 года назад

      @@-TranNguyenMinhKhoi- large amounts of people are the whole reason for building bigger and taller, you can't make a building that houses 100,000 people and expect all of them to gracefully enter and exit a doorway that should be on a building that houses 700 people.. thats why there are Megaplex's... Trash isn't much of an issue if it's disposed of correctly, we don't want an idiocracy situation, and as for water supply and energy, these mega buildings are big enough to have their own water purification facilities and energy generation plants underneath them... you still have to remember all of this is for over population and we as a society have not gotten there yet... we aren't even close to having the amount of people it would take to populate a massive city like that... so there is no necessity for building the future we were promised..

    Well, cyberpunk cities can technically be able to exist on mars, since it's gravity is almost 1/3 of earth's, and the buildings can simply go way higher

  • @ezekielwootton3403
    @ezekielwootton3403 2 года назад

    Your video is wrong. Once you build high enough, gravity works in your favor. While gravity pulls the building down, it will also pull the building up. What holds us back is that we are realistic and the people that made the awesome stuff we have today were anything but realistic. They were intelligent but they were also dreamers. Finding a mix of architects AND politicians in charge of building codes to BOTH be intelligent and dreamers are what holds us back from this reality. Maybe in China. But not in America or clearly anywhere else for that matter. Humans, as always, are the problem.

    Cyberpunk buildings have lots of pointless skybridges connecting each other. Very dangerous if they should come loose during an earthquake and plummet to the streets below and crush cars and people.
