this diagnosis works for All KTM, GAS GAS, AND HUSQVARNA 65cc motocross bikes (2009 to current) ig coil cap to chassi ground: 11.3 Kohms stator field wires (pin to pin Red wore to blue wire: 18 ohms stator field wires to chassi : OL stator pick up: 103 ohms CDI box male terminal pin to pin ohms from bottom left grey wire to top right red wire: Good = 26 Mohm ; Bad = 103ohm.

I love that you're on an RM85. I had a 1990 and it was such a good bike. It's essentially the same bike that you're riding today. I'm glad that Suzuki at least makes the 85 still. Wish they made the 125 and 252 stroke though. Nice racing at the USA MX championships😉👊

I was testing different pilot jets on my aerox and put this thing in the wrong way, idle was no problem but when i hit the throttle instant boggin off like way too lean. I knew the pilot was rich enough and then I found out about that baffle position lol..

Do you know what the polarity was on those two pins? I picked up a bike that didn't come with a charger and I'm hoping to use an aftermarket charger but don't want to hook it up backwards. Also hopefully it won't matter that I don't have those other 4 wires doing anything.
A volt meter will identify polarity. If you measure backwards it will show as Negative voltage..... the other 4 pins are temp and voltage communication to the charger and is needed for proper charging
It really bogs if you flip it! Thank you, this helped. For informational purposes, that flipped baffle does not let the float to come down enough and does not let fuel in quickly enough!
This is exactly the behavior my Vespa had when this baffle was upside down. Huge thanks to Bradley and this comment for this insanely useful information. I was really scratching my head as to why my bike was bogging. 🎉

The Stockton exhaust spring tool broke on first pull (weld broke) also the strength and grip ability of the tool is a factor, if you have a junk flat head like I did that has good grip, just Notch it like I did in this video, thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍

Great video, was yours kinda sputter/stuttering like it was still cold or running with the choke on in the 1/4-1/2 throttle? That’s what I’m dealing with & it fouls plugs within 1hr unless it is wide open on the pipe the whole time. Once it’s on the pipe, it rips, but runs like crap at the low end. Did this fix your problem?
Yes sputtering, we actually went leaner on all our jets, 215main and 10 or 15 pilot 2 turns out (from fully in) on air screw, idle speed screw is about 3/4 out (from fully in).
@@jenningsbradley70 right on, thanks. I actually put the 13 needle in not long after commenting on this. I forget where I ended up at with my clip but left jetting pretty much the same other than the air screw. It’s a little hard to start when cold but otherwise ran pretty good when we parked it for winter.

triple grip clutch. the stock one is really bad
IRP clutch is best drag elimator otherwise set up a new set of frictions with a little more stack to pressure plate air gap via other brand frictions. I used irp Carbon fiber frictions. Also oil viscosity try a few different maybe redline lightweight shock proof at only 200cc

24:54 for anyone struggling to keep the kick start shaft and spring in place - Soon as you get it in the right spot, drop the clutch in, it will stop it from popping back out. the other gears can be dropped in on that side too, then you just put the cover on over the top - easy. Its also a good time to swap out the kick start shaft and water pump shaft seals while you're in there - only an extra ~$10 :)

Did you do the mod on the stop gear or just buy a new 1. And the primary gear do you have a part number I can't find it on Rocky Mountain site I looked up kick starter I looked up clutch and I looked up crank and I can't find it
Primary I believe is either in transmission parts category page or crankshaft catalog. See my response to other comment I believe I listed p/n and provided link
The mod is to the primary gear, the Kickstart gear is usually ok but i think i cleaned it up as well. Your just looking for two clean square edges. The cleaner and more square edge you provide the better

Anyone know if this kick start strip can get bad enough to prevent compression from building? Got a 2015 project sx with a shot cylinder and head. Replaced cylinder and piston and head with new OEM. Can’t get above about 90psi. Disassembled and reassembled a couple times because you can with the correct kick pattern get what feels like a decent kick but I’ve noticed as that pressure builds up while kicking it becomes extremely difficult to get an engaged kick(stripping increases). Would love to act on more than a hunch on this as I’m not super experienced and there is probably a world where I have something in the top end assy not right. Thanks!
