Barrel Jack Replacement
I had no idea these connectors came in different sizes. I was lucky I guess on all my past projects and purchased the correct one until now. Here is how I replaced it. Sharing so you do not make the same mistake.

I broke my own rule... Stick with model paints

I modeled a prototype SMS Railroad SW1200 out of this Atlas SW9 model. Power is Deadrail 11.1v LiIon 2000 mah battery. Control is Soundtraxx Blunami 2200 and the Blunami app from BlueRail trains. Tank Cars

I received these three AtlasO 25,500 tank cars from High Country Hobbies. What wonderful people. They were all supposed to be AGP, but he ran out and substituted these NS First responder cars and gave me a nice discount. I did not mind because they are all getting repainted anyway. I did not realize they were two rail models, but appear to run just fine pulling and pushing on my 3R rail MTH Sca...

Great battery for smaller train engines

I found this great little battery online and thought I'd share. For background, I like to install my batteries in the engine and charge while in the engine (so, no remove and replace). I have been searching for a 3 cell LiIon 11.1v battery with 1,500 mah or higher that coul...

I have a Atlas AEM-7 that is dead. The new blunami would be able to do the same?
@@TheBerks315 Blunami is DC. You would have to install a bridge rectifier to convert your AC track Power to DC. Else run on DC power or battery.
Excellent video. I hope they will do the Cummins QSK95 sounds that are heard on the SC-44 and the ALC-42 chargers in the future. I plan to use those sounds with a Class 60 horn for my Heljan Class 60 Diesel Locomotive at the end of the year.
I just came across this video .... Subscribed!!!! 👍
I don’t like traction tires however but keep in mind you have two different diameter wheels on the same axle if you loose or remove a tire. Then one wheel will actually be slipping on the axle.
Great video... exact same problem and now I have an idea how to fix it thanks 😊
Great work!
That is fantastic work! Definitely a super cool engine.
Please a make a vid for your GP50. I've always wanted to see one of those in O gauge.
I don't have a GP50. Was there something in the background you saw?
@@ron045 My bad, it was another guy on ogrr who used a Weaver GP38 as a base for a GP50.
Fantastic work on this Ron!
Thought I felt a pain in my arm (and my legs, and my feet) a while back. Now I know why! Really awesome job on this 👍
Came out great, Ron. Looks like we could climb into the cab and take her for a spin!
Thank you... I like it. But I really think my #104 came out better.
Nice scratch built locomotive Ron. I like your battery charging board and indicator light set up. Great location to hind the charging port. Genius. 🙌👍🙂
Ron that is exceptional !
What type of coupler did you use
You can use an MTH PS2 or PS3 coupler. The PS1 couplers need too much voltage to fire.
Very cool! I've had the RailPro for a couple weeks and have figured out the Loco Photo download. The loco needs to be a certain size to look right. I'll be trying the sounds next. And yes, it it easier with the CI-1 dongle. Your pointers about using Wav, 44.1K & mono will be very helpful. Thanks for the video.
I have a video on the photo too. Use the free software from the online RailPro forum. Make the pic the correct size.
Now you have also prevented city water from getting anywhere else in your camper.
This pump was for the fresh water tank. Before this pump was a Y and valve to direct city water.
@@ron045 your pump has a built in check valve and so does the city water inlet. It’s the pump check valve only that causes this problem and quite a simple fix at zero cost
Good video. Thank you.
Ron, what do you think about Blunami 4408 decoder board and controlling from an iPad versus the RailPro system? One of my subscribers tipped me to the Blunami system as an alternative to the RailPro controller system. I think you have dabbled in both systems. love to know your thoughts. Ron//
Sent you a reply to your website email. Too long to type here.
Do not try this on N gauge.Does not work!
Check out 1:27.
1/2" plug?
Interestingly I had a couple of stall spin crashes recently, I noticed my AS3X goes into a hard over aileron position with the nose straight down, like after a tip stall. The ailerons are not controllable so the result is a death spiral. Not cool.
Unfortunately very typical of a Corsair. Keep the speed up, especially in a turn.
@@ron045 Actually, one stall spin crash happened in the usually gentle Eflite Maule M7, and one in the also gentle AT802. I believe most any model with SAFE engaged will go into a death spiral if stalled hard resulting in a near vertical attitude. Tip your plane up on its nose with SAFE selected and see if you can move the ailerons. I think you’ll find they stay fully deflected.
Well that is a different problem I cannot address. I do not have AS3X installed on this model.
plumbing newb, so this may be a dumb question but the part you just replaced was installed upside down on my rig and separated from the drain = major leak .. so before I put it back together correctly... which way does the beveled (red) gasket go? TIA
The bevel would go toward the screw cap. So for instance, freeze at 1:50. For the top connector, the thin bevel would be on the bottom and the thicker part would be on the top. For the bottom connector it would be opposite. The ticker part on the bottom and the thinner part on the top. Doing it this way allows for the screw cap the mesh in with the cap and pipe and as it tightens create a good seal. i.e. the flat top of the washer seals up against the flat cap. Hope I explained that OK.
@@ron045 Thanky you!
seems silly they lock the UI to the blunami. When its still just changing CV's behind the scenes.
I don't know if I understand. If you know your CVs, you can go in and modify CVs to your hearts content.
Someone had $200 to burn
I believe your error was not in the use of the aerosol paint, but the "harvesting" of it and then trying to run it through an airbrush. The results seem to indicate an overly thinned mixture somehow. I also believed one could only use RR paint on models until I was forced to use something else. I've used Rustoleum (which now owns Testors) self-etching automotive primer on models and it covers nicely, with even the foundry data on Kadee truck frames still readable. Unable to find the proper shade of off-white for another project, I settled for "almond" aerosol, the same color used on appliances. Both with and without primer, it went on smooth and clean. If you have your doubts, grab a cheap Tyco or other used "disposable" model and experiment. You might be surprised with what you discover.
Thanks for the thoughts. Stripped it all off and have a clean primed shell. Purchased Tru Color REA Green. I might experiment as you suggest, but not on this model any more.
That looks like it's for metal not plastic.
It's good ole MTH plastic.
@@ron045 I think Tom's saying that the paint is intended for use on metal.
@@beeble2003 I stripped it all. Bought some New Primer and Tru Color model paint today (REA Green). I expect better results.
Penn Central also had some GP38s with the extended cab, as did Reading's SD45s, interestingly. This feature was used to accommodate a double sided control stand, for bidirectional operation.
HI Ron. Great video! Love the way you chop things up.
Nice work and presentation.

Well Sir, I greatly appreciate your video and information. You were the inspiration.
This is exactly the same problem I’m having. Everything you suggested is exactly what I was thinking. Thank you for the reassurance. Great video
Glad it helped. YT videos have saved my bacon many times over. So anytime I get a chance to pay it forward, I do.
Yes... Great point. Thanks.
If that check valve goes bad you will flood the RV cap the pump. 😮
Gonna have to do these cars when I make my basement into the Pureland Branch. Thanks for making it #2102 :)
Thanks. Made it 2102 based on your co-workers recommendation. Just finished a weathered gray TILX and putting the final touches on a flat black EMOX. I need a cover car.
Looks just like the real thing, Ron. Great job!
Nice job on the decals, looks good on that tank car. Highball makes some really nice stuff and I have used them in the past (my RCRX tank car is in his model gallery photos). I’ll have to ask him if he can scale it down to HO

Great information
Very educational thank you
Ron - great series on the Railpro. I'm taking the plunge. Gonna dive into Railpro finally. To get started I just need the HC2 and LM4 board. Look forward to a new project. Thanks. 🌴😎
As said in the forum, the entire E unit metal frame, should be connected to the frame of the engine AKA common or ground. The switch to turn the E-unit coil off (thus locking in a direction) connects the one side of the coil through the metal lever of the switch, to the center post or rivet of the switch- to the frame of the E unit. It sitting there on the table by itself it cannot ever activate because it has no frame ground return path.
Thanks. I think I have it working. I was also trying to do this with under 10 volts. Once I raise the power it worked as you described. Video response on forum.
Nice color scheme. I echo your praise of High Ball Graphics. They saved me with a small custom order - Reporting marks for my N scale Orange Belt MRR.
How is the slow speed control? Does blunami have speed like legacy odessy 2 where when you set the speed it stays at that speed going around your layout up or down grades like legacy or dcs?
Slow speed control is awesome. It also has a feature called Dynamic Digital Exhaust. As your train hits a grade the engine sound will wind up and increase to give an appearance of a struggle. Going down hill it notches back. Blows MTH and Lionel systems away. Not even comparable.
Our RV has the exact same issue from the factory. Short drain piece from the shower is always trying to pull away from the trap. Lousy attention to detail by the manufacturer.
Great modeling job!!! Great video! Are you happy with the top speed you get with the 11v battery? Have you had any problems with the overcurrent protection tripping when pulling max load?
Given that it is a switcher, I love the slow scale like speeds. I will say, it's a weak puller. But it only has one motor. My 44 tonner with a 3 cell can pull more than this because it had duel motors. Limit is about 15 cars.
great looking loco
