Just spent a day there. Had a great time going through the museum and getting an 'unofficial tour and lecture' by the community center director who oversees the small museum. Enjoyed poking around the various buildings though we didn't go in. Most impressive was the Officer's Club building. Headed up the mountain to Pen Mar park which provides another trip back in time to early 1900s when there was an amusement park and the wealthy from DC and Baltimore spent time in Fort Ritchie and Pen Mar to escape the summer heat. Well worth the trip.

I was stationed there from 1994 to 1997. I lived on Mountain Rd on Ft. Ritchie and worked at the top of the mountain behind the base, High Rock, on the Satellite Communications equipment that provided secure communications for Raven Rock, or Site R, about 15 minutes away off of Harbaugh Valley Rd. in PA. Sad to see if in such condition.

Hi new friend. Thanks for taking us around the battlefield in West Virginia. Interesting that the Union Army didn't bring all his troops. Then the Confederate general had the presence of mind to get out of there and had less casualties than the Union. Interesting that the gravesite was erected for the soldier who died in the encampment.
