S.O.L. Tackle
Добавлен 22 ноя 2023
I really like the fact that we can tie things to fool fish. It’s been a life long addiction. After fly fishing only for years- hair jigs brought me into the conventional world and it’s been a ton of fun. I will be posting my favorite flies and hair jigs. You can find other patterns, scents and coming soon tying materials at www.soltackle.com
MUST HAVE SALTY STREAMER. Tying the Tarpon Snake. Most fish like gobble it up like Skittles.
I used a Kona Big Game Hook 2/0- you need a stout sharp hook that can take a beating from big fish.
The tail is made from six schlappen feathers tied in a V shape 3 on each side. Next tie in a decent amount of crystal flash down each side I used about 8
The body is made from schlappen feathers. Tie the larger hackles pieces first and taper down in size. It takes 3 to 4 hackles depending on the size and style of hook.
I tied in a Guinea feather as kind of hotspot it’s not in the original but I like the contrast it provides. Sometimes making your flies slightly different than everybody else’s is all you need to fool the fish.
The weight on the fly can be anything from small bead chain like ...

Based on the Articulated Kreelex Fly Streamer. Killer jig for Fall fish and Walleye. The rear hook can be anything since you are cutting off the hook. Use something cheap. I like to use crystal flash or polar flash. Flash that is wrinkly not flat- it won’t simply pencil down when wet. Dealers choice for jig heads and thread. I often tie large heads like hot spots to add more color.
Great streamer pattern- How to tie the Fat Man’s Dessert. Most fish that swim will eat this!!!!!
Просмотров 195Месяц назад
The Fat Man’s Dessert is a combination of the Fat Boy and the Murdich Minnow- I misspoke in the video calling it the Fat Man instead of Baby. The Murdich Minnow has been a classic for many years and the Fat Boy is a pattern I saw about 4 years ago. I get tired of tying the same patterns over and over so I often tie different stuff for myself. The Fat Man’s Dessert is the result. I took the best...
How to tie a feathered treble hook- 7 WAYS!!

I found some old spoons without feather tails and I just cannot have that. So I free-styled some variations on productive combos from the past. Spoons are fairly use to tie feathered trebles on. You really have to add a lot of weight to most spoons before you restrict its movement. Feathered trebles on lures is also a great option though you have to be more careful with the weight and materials...

SIMPLE!!FLASHY!!MOVEMENT!! Basically craft fur and flash. Great profile lots of options
Просмотров 6982 месяца назад
Jig of choice Tail is craft fur. Reverse tied to add bulk and to secure the craft fur. Craft fur doesn’t compress and is slippery so it can wiggle out of your thread wraps easily. UV Polar Chenille Reverse tied craft fur shorter than the tail. Keep thinking taper. Your choice of flash probably not crystal flash. Trimmed the same length as the craft fur. TAPER!!!! Rinse and repeat one more time....
Bucktail plus flash- MAXIMUM!!MOVEMENT!!

All you need is a jig head, bucktail and flash Covers everything from about 3.5 inches to 12 inch jigs. I was able to use the Flashabou trimmings from the larger jigs to tie the smaller jigs. No waste!! For more hair jigs and custom orders check out my website www.soltackle.com Subscribe to my RUclips channel let me know and I will give you 15 % off your first order. Steelie Bugger- Float!! Fly!! Fill your box quickly and catch fish. What else do you want?!
Просмотров 5832 месяца назад
It’s popular for a reason. Cast it on fly rod, pin it however you fish. I used a Gamakatsu SP11 in a size 6 which is the biggest that I fish it. Works well down to fairly small with some material changes. Crystal flash or Flashabou or no flash. I like a little flash you can always remove it later. Schlappen and medium polar chenille twisted together to form the bottom. Tie the schlappen in by t...

Jig of choice The tail is made from three pieces of marabou stripped from the stem to give a great profile Bandaboo 2 strands down each side The body is made from UV Polar chenille Repeat the same steps from the tail to form the wing. Continue to taper the sections of marabou each shorter than the last. 4 rubber legs down each side 2 colors of schallpen. Tied concave toward the shank for easier...
How to tie a Bucktail Jig with a twist
Просмотров 1 тыс.3 месяца назад
A classic with a twist- there are usually material options as long as they function the same way. Tie some using all ripple ice it’s loud, proud, durable and quick. Jig Head- you pick I used Manns Shad Jig Head. I got mine from Lurepartsonline.com great website with lots of bait making components. Tail- #1- Bucktail with a little bit Ripple Ice Fibers for flash. Ripple Ice is great picks up a l...
Marble fox jig- EASY, QUICK, CHEAP. Fish magnet.

Your jig of choice- I tied this one on a VMC. This hair jig can be tied larger or smaller. Tie it on a stout hook it works well for steelhead and salmon. Tied on a stainless hook it works it in the saltwater. Materials are getting expensive I think it’s important to use your materials as effectively as possible. You want to spend your time on trips not materials, right?! Tail- I like ripple ice...
EXCESSIVE! MOVEMENT!Articulated hair jig on a NED

How’s the deer hunting
@@SOLTackle No deer have been hurt
Fabulous!
Thanks
Jig is too fat looking wont go through the water well .too muchfur man
Appreciate the your thoughts
I need to get some craft fur. What I have seen in stores is a lot shorter than yours. Where are you getting it?
Hareline Dubbin sells the great stuff. Most fly fishing shops that sell tying materials will sell it. The stuff from craft stores is short. I’m sure you can also buy it on Amazon but I prefer to buy from small businesses.
Recently discovered your channel. Really enjoy your style. You make some cool jigs. Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thanks- have fun tying good luck on the water
This is a terrific compilation of ideas and concepts for dressing trebles. Like your technique for these. Thanks tons for sharing.
Thanks good luck on the water
Good lookin bucktail& very cool shirt, where did ya get it?
Thanks. I don’t remember- the shirt was off a random website and the shirt has no tags
I like what you have done here, how about a video on dressing double hooks?
I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for watching and the input
Nice variety of options! Thank you for inspiring us. I learned a new trick or two.
Happy to help!
I like it. I like it a lot!!!
It is a good one. If you tie it let me know how you do or reach out if you have questions
@@SOLTackle Waht are you fishing for with this jig?
@@markmarshall2068 this size smallies and walleye but it’s fairly versatile.
@@SOLTackle Thanks, I see a bass angle with the jig. Ive tied craft fur jigs but not with the flash layout you are showing.
Simple but super quick to tie, very well done! Didi you catch trout on it?
The bugger is super versatile probably not much it cannot fool.
Love that technique of twisting the polar chenille with a hackle. Gives a great look. Just tied one with some white arctic fox in a dubbing loop twisted with a similar product as the Polar Chenille. Came out great! Great video and very good inspiration. Rock on!
I bet it looks great- fox is just terrific. Isn’t tying fun?! Glad you got something out of the video and good luck on the water
I love the schlappen/polar chenille combo. I'm definitely going to use that technique on a few patterns. Thanks!
It works well for sure thanks for reaching out. It’s always nice. Good luck on the water
Can not wait to tie this thank you.
It’s a fun tie good luck.
Those look fantastic! I am going to try my hand at making a few for sure. Thank you so much for sharing this video.
Thanks
Cool looking pattern
Thanks
Good idea, jig made this way is great for flounder too! 😀
Appreciate it and yea you are right!!
I am new to Fly tying, so thank you for this. on a technical note, looking at half a face is weird, either all or none, maybe a higher camera position aiming down. NOT my expertise, but seems strange looking at half a face.
Appreciate the input. Still figuring out the filming. Good luck on the vice
Awesome Jig, appreciate it.
Thank you- I like the spread the disease of tying
You're pretty good at stroking that back! Nice shirt! Great Tie!
Terrific thanks
My favorite part is where you left us for a minute and we got to watch the bobbin spin XD

You make it look so effortless!
Thanks- tools of a miss spent life
