    If you did have a leak in the tile, would I get away with putting down some Flex Seal over the entire exisiting tile floor and then water proofing film, and then follow what you did on the video? Thanks in advance!

      It doesn't hurt to try it. If you do, I would recommend using epoxy grout to finish it off. It's a little harder to work with, but it's the best on the market.

    Melissa best way to solve the ponding issue is install new tiles with epoxy thin set and grout short answer. But a lot has to be done prior to this to prep the surface so you will not have tile failure. It involves grinding old tiles to scarify the surface then epoxy primer then broadcast sand 20/40 fine then install new epoxy mortar bed to slope to drain properly then apply liquid roll on water proofing membrane ( Mapei aqua defense) 2 coats apply new tiles within 48 hours of membrane if not done in that time thin set will not stick use epoxy thin set embed tiles then epoxy grout this floor will NEVER fail I fix leaking showers every day and have for 20 years never had a call back the video shown with Schluter Kerri will fail call Phil at Schluter corp he will tell you the same this person does not know anything about building showers and is a hack

    Good video, couple of questions. What type of trowel did you use? I am looking to install 2x2 Tiles on the floor an the idea of cleaning grout out of all of those joints scare me. I was thinking a 1?8" trowel, is that feasible? Did you have any problems with uneven tiles? I have a shower on a slab but the original installer did a mediocre job using standard 4x4 tiles on the floor. They are bonded very well to the concrete and are rather level but not perfect from tile to tile by any means. I fear that I will have a problem with the next level accentuating the unevenness

    • @datileguy301
      @datileguy301 2 месяца назад

      Thank you . Trowel size I would say 1/8 is good for you. About the uneven tiles if you aren't removing them then try to skim it with thinset first let it dry then install on top. Skim I mean go over with the flat side of the trowel and thinset to try and even as much possible. Good luck 👍🏽

      The best option is to remove it . Chisel away the excessive thinset. Check how high it is after that. You can also see how thick the threshold is u can purchase one that is 5/8 or 1/2 inch. I would just glue down a piece of kerdi on wood to install the threshold so it doesn't raise up also. If you install directly on wood it could come off shortly after good luck thank you for your great comment 👍🏼
