Alfie

What's it all about Alfie? I like this song, mostly, but the end of it just kind of goes nowhere. Maybe that's deliberate given the subject matter.... Anyway, recorded using my new Warm Audio Tonebeast pre-amp, and a Lauten audio LA320 mic.

More Benny Golson; great tune with such a cool groove. And a tricky bridge! Backing from the Hal Leonard series, via the Eagleheart youtube channel.

Jimmy Van Heusen's beautiful song; duet with @MrSunnybass ruclips.net/video/xS-MnZGBNNA/видео.html Incidentally, this was originally called Bessie With The Laughing face, but Jimmy changed it for Nancy Sinatra's birthday and the new title stuck.

Glad you liked it! Need to work on learning the chords now to improvise over.

Thanks! The preamp sounds great too, just the right amount of colour.
Love it brother 🔥

Listening for the 3rd time now. Sometimes I hear quite a bit of Sonny Rollins or Johnny Griffin but overall a lot of Matthew Darwin.
I've listened to an awful lot of Sonny Rollins: will take that any day of the week! Thanks for listening again, Christoph!
This is a beautiful tribute, Matthew. Very nice.
Thanks Alex, hopefully did it a modicum of justice!
the juice of the tenor sax I love that vintage sound
You mean you're not playing there any more..? Or just the most recent Session?
Unfortunately the landlord has had to leave, and so the pub is closing at least temporarily. Looking for new home!
Hello sir! I don't know anything about your channel, I stumbled onto it because of youtube's recommendations. However, this funky tune is great! While we probably won't see each other again, you can have my like! Keep being awesome!
Thanks for listening, and glad you enjoyed it!
great job
Great! Book that quartet for your next gig!
Hah, indeed! More practise with the looper needed.....
Fantastic! Loved it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
nice tone and tme K
you los a little lock on the solo. Happens to me also I like your lines K
Interested to see & hear the first offerings from the garden studio!
Sound should improve a bit once the acoustic panels go in - it's a bit bright at the moment!
I can't hear your video !!! Correct it and send ikt back
Weird, sounds fine to me!
The audio of this video is so low that I can't hear it.
Really? Never come up before - what are you listening on?
It's definitely about 70% lower than everything else I've been watching on RUclips
What a nice sound!
Thanks! Worked hard on it over the years, think I definitely have an identifiable sound that's me now!
This is selmer balance?
Yes a Selmer Balanced Action from 1935, amongst the first 80 ever made.
Ya good
Mint this Brother!
Thanks! Hopefully get together enough material to get out gigging; some mechanics at getting quicker with the Push to sort out too.
i've been tinkering around with it i've had my 3rd gen 4i4 for some odd years now and was looking at the focus control because i was setting up casette tape machines and forgot there was a loopback function because i rarely even open focus control For fellow ableton & 4i4 users 1. focus control menu >loopback>playback DAW 1-2 2. ableton >preferences input config> enable 5/6>rename "loopback" i looked at the manual and watching this video Ableton Manual: "Two additional inputs - “Inputs 5 & 6” - will be listed on the Input Config page of your DAW’s I/O Preferences. These are virtual “loopback” inputs within software, not additional physical inputs. They can be used to record DAW tracks from sources within your computer, e.g., from a web browser. Focusrite Control incudes a Loopback 1-2 mix tab, where you can choose which inputs to record. " Bada Bang Bada Boom! (Note: in the video he mentions to make sure you have in the "monitoring section" to make sure the trigger is set to OFF, i made this mistake before looking at the manual and youtube tutorials just to find myself in a trial and error LOOP with ringy ears lol) great vid thanks!!!
Hah yeah that feedback loop gets loud quick!
Well earned like, thanks.
Glad it helped!
I like mic 1 the most
Great sound, as usual and nice reverb from the Valhalla plugin. ☺️👍
Thanks! Decided to go for a stupidly huge one using the Palace setting....
@@matt-darwin I'm using Valhalla Vintage Verb now as well, for the first time on the insanely slow ballad version of 'Solar'.
@@christophbrylka6256 it's a great plugin for 50 bucks! The delay is great too. One day might grab their plate reverb.
I've never been a great fan of that genre of music. However there is something special about your music expression. I feel such good and rich vibes sipping from the screen. So relaxing. Thank you. 🎉
Thank you, still learning how to get this stuff smoother, but more to come!
Hi, Very smooth I like how you sound 🔥🎷👍
Thanks! Hard tune as a ballad!
So cool and relaxing . Thanks.🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
So glad this showed up in my recommendations. This was fantastic.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Как же классно
Чувак я слышу тебя, звук КЛЕВОТЕНЬ всё клёво
Ты общаешся со мной, чувак ты сказал всё
Всё клëво, я не могу так вытянуть
I love this tune.
It's a great tune! Such a great groove
You sound great on alto as well Matt! Beautiful tone and great playing throughout.
Thank you kindly Dave! Definitely not an alto player but good to know it sounds good! And that the work is starting to pay off
Great job Matt! Super fun to listen AND watch!
Glad you enjoyed it! The playing’s a bit raggedy at times; funk definitely not my forte! Had a lot of fun with the editing though, haha.
Sounding beautiful Matt!
Appreciated! I was quite surprised how this works as a ballad, it’s odd, but beautiful and lyrical at the same time!
Sounding good!
mouthpiece setup?
Mouthpiece is a Daddy-O 7 in orange ultem, with Boston Sax Shop Black 2.5 reeds.
Love it. Makes me want to be drinking whiskey in a bar with a trilby and a transatlantic accent 🎷
The Rigotti Gold .. and the Legere are the ones I liked.. would like to try the Gonzalez though
