Amazing! Do you have a score??
Great tutorial…..I’m gonna save it and come back to the various concepts that you introduce during the lesson. At my present rate of progress I reckon I should be able to play along to the end some time around 2050. 😂 Thanks again for posting.
You sure make it look simple!
Cheers! Hope it works for you :)
This is brillant! Your courses and excercices are both efficient and fun, and I'm so glad you made those. Thanks you!
Thanks for the feedback - glad you enjoyed the exercise :)
This is exactly what i've been looking for all these years, my friend you're not just a very talented musician but also a great teacher, very fluid and easy to understand. Also i like how everything is explained from the basics to the most complex parts of the groove in a very simple laid out manner, amazing with such clarity and ease! I can now play funk piano because of you! Thanks a lot!
This is awesome to hear, I'm so stoked this clicked with you!! Thanks for letting me know, have fun!! ❤️
Thanks you mr
Cheers for watching :)
WHAT A FUCKING MASTER CLASS. I LOVE FROM THE DEEPNESS OF MY HEART. THANK U.
Thank you kindly!! ❤️
@pianoproductivitypeace your didatics are from other world. Greetings from Brasil
Hi Lachlan, thanks so much for your absolute brilliant videos. After listening and practicing a lot of your Funk videos I found this for Swing. Super great stuff. I hope you get much more subscribers cause your channel deserves it !
Thanks so much! I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful :)
Wow Matt, you've really outdone yourself here! This might be the best funk keyboard comping lesson I ever saw. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Thanks for that, a huge compliment and I'm glad you've found it useful ❤️ PS my name is Lachlan :)
Excellent
Cheers! :)
Terrific. Thanks so much.Straight to the root of it.
Cheers for that, enjoy the jam :)
I can’t help, but to say you really inspire me to play the piano.
Aww thanks, the best feedback - have fun ❤️
thank you for this exc, Dan. it s a good chance to exc togheter without boring as alone...simple but aiming to manage to be sure on simple comping
Thanks for that, glad you've found it helpful :)
Very interesting dear maestro and thank you. Your videos are so didactical. But in case I have F7 Dm7 Bflat7 Gm7 C7 and F7 what kind of progression do I consider?
Cheers for this, I'm sort of thinking you may be looking at a bluesish kinda progression as your I - IV - V are dominant 7s ( F7 - Bb7 - C7) depending on what sound you want to create you can also experiment by making the Dm7 and Gm7 dominant 7s also? Blues as a genre leaves the rules that we are discussing in this video - the video is about DIATONIC HARMONY - that is harmony derived from a major scale There are many different ways to arrange these chords but the standard 12 bar formula might look like this | F7 | Bb7 | F7 | F7 | | Bb7 | Bb7 | F7 | Dm7 | | Gm7 | C7 | F7 | C7 | If making a melody in your piece you could try F major pentatonic mixed with F blues for variety: F maj pentatonic (F G (Ab) A C D) F blues (F Ab Bb B C Eb) Hope this helps :)
Thank you maestro for your suggestions. I ll try in that way.. See you.. Soon.. Gratitude!
This could be helpful - conveniently it's in F 😊 ruclips.net/video/YAJ0VM94v2Q/видео.htmlsi=wvEkMzc0RaWKTJIv
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching ❤️
Spoiled by too much talk
Hey cheers for watching and the feedback - I do get carried away sometimes - will keep this in mind for future :)
Now that's a class!!!
Cheers, hope you enjoy the jam :)
Thats quite a trick actually , thanks!
Impressive content, Piano Productivity Peace. Looking forward to your next upload! I tapped the thumbs up icon on your video. Keep up the fantastic work. The breakdown of the 1-4-5 chord progressions is incredibly helpful. How do you suggest approaching the transition between major and minor keys when composing songs?
Thanks so much for the feedback :) Essentially you can base your song around a Major key or a Minor key... If in Major your chords are I - IV - V and vi - ii - iii If in minor your chords are i - iv - v/V and III - VI - VII The chords should all link together nicely as they come from the same scale - but just try different combinations and see what you like - a lot of people vibe with the I-V-vi-IV progression for example. I'll be following up eventually with a lesson that explains that more, and starts identifying all 6 chords in one sequence, but currently I'm working on a rhythm lesson. Thanks for your words and encouragement, I am super keen to make more content where possible around my full-time job. Cheers!
I've just played this video completely through and as an advanced keyboard player, I've got to admit, this is an Impressive tuturial and a lot can be learned in basic and advanced keyboard techniques. ...... I'm now going to find that funky Clav sound, rewind the video, play along and be inspired. Thank you.
This is great feedback, thank you so much! Enjoy the jam :)
Thank you so much. Very helpful...
Cheers for this, glad it has helped - thanks for the comment :)
Hi Lachlan, would like to ask how to create the backing track like yours here? Can you please give some Hint!
For sure, I use pro-tools and the default plugins from xpand2 When I record the lesson it's just a basic beat to keep me in time with no bass, then I go back and play along with the lesson :) Also means if I make a mistake when I speak I can redo vocals etc... Let me know if you need more details :) Thanks for your interest :)
Great video. Thanks 👍
Cheers for watching :)
It might seem silly but I will ask anyway. Is it possible in the same song to mix major chords with their relative minor ?
Absolutely - although if the song overall is in a Major key the minor chords will be best labelled vi, ii and iii If the song is in a minor key then the Major chords would be labelled as III, VI and VII I hope that makes sense!
@@pianoproductivitypeace absolutely. It makes perfect sense. Thanks🙏
Well, I still need to work on the chords in the minor key. Thanks.
For sure, once you can hear it the skill should stay with you. Come together and Black magic woman are good songs to practice hearing the minor i iv V with - Although I usually play Come Together with Dorian mode and feel the IV chord as major. Hope this exercise helps you - cheers Dan
Thanks for checking out this video, for a harder challenge I have another video which tests you on the same thing but uses inversions and different instruments: ruclips.net/video/DHGgL-rVSKI/видео.htmlsi=UKBl9mIido1Yk127
thank you.. where can we buy the background beats?
Cheers! I haven't released the beats for this one as it is a cover Taylor's Cube by Directions in Groove - an Australian acid jazz group. I whipped it up as a backing track. Here is the original recording: music.ruclips.net/video/_j6GfLuGlls/видео.html&si=M1OZC-9xjh1KS117 Cheers :)
Thanks for the simplicity
Your video is pure joy! Thank you!!!
Thanks so much - enjoy the Mixolydian jam :)
Waaww 😍 vraiment génial, superbe musique et lecons 👍🏽 Merci 💕
More than perfect!
Thank you :)
It doesn't go anywhere. I get it's a backing track but it shouldn't be boring.
Hey cheers for feedback, I'm still figuring out what works best for playing along - my theory with this one was keep it simple so it's easy to follow but I am keen to explore building it up dynamically etc...
simple easy amazing tuto
Cheers!
@@pianoproductivitypeace you too
Thank you very, very, very much!
Cheers!
Tnx 🤟🖤🎶 Tnx 🤟🖤🎶 Tnx 🤟🖤🎶 so much Bro 🙏
Thank you, enjoy the jam!
What is the difference between soloing G major scale or D major scale over this?
Hey, in short there is only one note difference - C/C# If you use the G major scale over E, it is essentially the E Aeolian scale (or natural minor) The 6th note C sounds 'darker' and more serious If you play C# instead (using D major scale/E Dorian) the 6th note sounds 'brighter' and more fun Hope this makes sense, cheers for the question!
Great tutorial and truly complete
Thanks!
Fantastic tutorial. Makes so much fun. Thanks a lot.
Thank you for the comment :) Hope you enjoy the jam!
Wackadoo
Ça a été un régal de rapper dessus
Good song, respect
These get better and better - so great. Hope your pup is well!
Thank you so much, very generous! Yes Juno is much better, leg healed and we avoided an amputation - a great result!
Always great lessons. Thanks a lot :)
Great. Works perfectly for soloing on I Wish😉
One of my favourites!
Thanks !
❤
❤
Very comprehensive
Thank you for this. I'm a bassist and I play a bit of keyboard just for fun and this made a lot of sense. The m7 chord voicing you use is funkier cuz it clashes with the root note more I think
Yes I love having that clashing sound in the voicing - cheers for the comment :)
