Finally acquired Etrian Odyssey Origins for the Switch, other games on my want list, etc
It's been a while since I've done a video game post here, and there definitely are a few new (and upcoming) releases on my radar, but my budget just wasn't there this holiday season to get everything I wanted. That said, I finally managed to snag a copy of Etrian Odyssey Origins for the Switch on the latest black Friday sale.

This video reminds me of how RUclips used to be. I like it.
Greetings all. I recently asked a question regarding the number of chilling hours you guys can count on in winter, but I posted it on an older video meaning that you may not have seen the question. I'm trying to determine if I get enough chilling hours for Spring Satin Plum (Plumcot) to bloom properly in my climate near Savannah GA. Your tree obviously got enough chilling hours to bloom, and since you have a banana tree which made something, the number of chilling hours you get may be really low as well. If you know the number of chilling hours you can count on, that would be awesome information. If not, I can figure it out through meteorological data if you share what state and county you are in. Thanks.
We had a really mild winter last year, near Gainesville, Florida, and almost everyone that had bananas in the ground last year got fruit this year, many that had never gotten bananas before. In about 30-35 years of having the orinoco bananas, this is only the second time we've had ripe bananas before a freeze wiped them out. In all of my years here, we've probably had zone 7 freezes many years back, but officially, it's USDA zone 9a, albeit I would bet that we still get some 8b freezes. Downtown Gainesville has many microclimates that have been measured upwards of USDA ZONE 10 temperatures near large ponds, etc, but we are in the boonies, with no large buildings and not near any lakes or ponds. That said, in 2022 I believe, many people lost a lot of their citrus trees and subtropicals, as supposedly there were microclimates that got as low as about 16 degrees in Chiefland, Florida, when people went out during those several days of freezes and measured temps at different spots in their yard. Sorry, I'm not sure of how many chill hours we generally get each year.
@@nataliejacobsen5336 This is great information. What I know for sure is that you get less chilling hours than I do here. Last year we had a mild but cool winter if that makes any sense. In other words, we raked up more chilling hours than usual but didn't have any hard freezes. It was the perfect winter for me with my citrus and plum trees. I'm in downtown Statesboro. Seriously, there is business district in every direction from my neighborhood which means my orchard is usually two or three degrees warmer than most of the rest of the county during hard freezes. Two years ago, I got very little damage during a 16F freeze while a commercial grower five miles south of me lost 500 trees. I often get to sell plums at a premium because I'm the only one who grows them in the region who's fruit didn't get yacked by a late frost. Still, I would be shocked if someone in the Gainseville FL area ever gets 500 chilling hours. By the way, have you heard about Gulf Series plums? They were developed by U of Florida in the 90s. Just Fruits and Exotics out of Tallahassee has them, but their stock is badly over-priced now. They would be yacked by late frosts every season here, but they would be perfect for you. I doubt they would bloom with your Spring Satin, but my hunch is that they would be more reliable producers for you. The anecdotal evidence I'm reading on Spring Satin is that it tends to bloom with but later than Santa Rosa. In your context where it's at the very bottom of its chilling requirement it would likely bloom late relative to something that should bloom at the same time but has a lower chilling requirement. Oh, I just saw on your other post that you added hog plum. If by hog plum you mean, Prunus umbellatta, that should do the job. I have a hard to pollinize cherry plum hybrid which sometimes blooms too early to bloom with Auburn University Cherry. When it does, I bring P. umbelatta branches in the yard and set them in 5 gallon buckets under the tree. Not only does it cause that tree to produce, every other plum in the orchard that blooms with it produces better than they otherwise do. The only reason I don't bring flowers in every year is because I worry about introducing diseases to the orchard.
@@coolmantoole I actually tried a santa rosa plum many years ago, and it only lasted a couple of years before just dying. Yes, I've heard of the gulf series of plums There is a nursery nearby called Blue Star, in Hawthorne, that sells them for $30, usually 3 gallon sized. The problem that I've had with locally-selected prunus rootstocks is that they may be selected for Florida's sandy soil but not quite for the swamp muck and flooding that we have. The plumcot we have, it came from Isons nursery, and they never would answer the question regarding what rootstock they used, but it has withstood some major flooding over the years. As far as spring satin plumcots in your area, I suppose the only way you'll know if something will work for your area is to try. I've even been told by one of the local nursery owners that Sunflower paw paws aren't suppose to do well in Florida at all, but it's my heaviest bloomer, more than 'Mango' and 'NC-1'. Getting them pollinated, however, is the biggest issue so far.
@@nataliejacobsen5336 FYI, the Ison webpage now says that all their plums are grafted onto citation rootstock. Citation is a plum X peach hybrid that is specifically good for wet soils. It has a poor reputation for tolerating drought conditions, but if any rootstock will take the conditions you discribed, that would be the one. Thanks.
Greetings, I grow plums in SE Georgia. I'm thinking of getting Spring Satin but am seeing mixed reviews on whether I would get enough chilling hours for it to bloom or not here in SE Georgia (Statesboro, near Savannah). Yours is blooming, and from the looks of your surroundings, you are in a nine hardiness zone I'm guessing. About how many chilling hours can you count on? What city are you near, so I can calculate it if you don't know. My guess is that a wild chickasaw plum that blooms with it will pollinize it. I sell scion for strains that would pollinize it. The tree needs to be pruned anyway. While you are pruning it when buds really begin to swell, you can graft a couple of pollinizers into branches. Thanks. Marcus
I ended up getting a scarlet beauty plum that is self fertile, plus the hog plum and possibly other wild types, but so far, it does seem like the plumcot may actually flower at a different time here in NC Florida than the other plums. Only time will tell if the other plums are going to help pollinate it.
@@nataliejacobsen5336 see my comment to your other response about Spring Satin likely to bloom too late to bloom with any of the super low chill Florida strains. If you mean Prunus umbelatta by hog plum, AKA "Flatwoods Plum, it should pollinize the heck out of it. It's a fabulous pollinizer and should bloom with it as well. If you mean Prunus munsonia, it will bloom too late but makes great rootstock. Years of experience with plums has taught me to take claims about varieties being self-fertile with a grain of salt. What that translate to is that the so-called self fertile tree will make some plums as opposed to a hundred pounds of plums. I know a couple of folks in Florida with Gulf series plums who would likely trade you scion for something. They should bloom with Scarlet Beauty.
Have you ever tried tuning your Guild 12 string to C sharp (one and a half step lower from E standard)? That is usually where Leo Kottke tuned his 12 strings and lately I tuned my Guild 12 string to C sharp.
Sorry for the late reply. With the included strings (lights) I have attempted to tune one full step down and didn't like the sound or feel of it. Maybe with a higher gauge string set? Do you know what string gauge Leo Kottke uses, or which gauge do you use?
Yo! Where did you get that pickguard? I can’t find any because of the two pickups at the bottom, did you cut it?

I got a Lucero150SCE that had been repaired of a small back side ordinary break by a luthier and he set it up well and sold it in a padded Ortega case VERY cheap, I had owned a real classical of all solid woods long ago and a Portugal-made C5 from Cordoba. For the very cheap price Luceros are very nice guitars....

How have you liked them so far? What’s been your favorite.
None of these varieties have so far bloomed or produced fruit. Some of the varieties didn't make it. A few of them, we attempted to root again, and a few are still alive but growing slowly. A lot of these cultivars are from California and other west-coast varieties and may not like our humidity and rain... So, it's hard to tell long-term if any of them will be successful yet.
@@nataliejacobsen5336 thanks for the update. I just bought a bunch from them. For some reason RUclips didn’t update me about your comment. I’m in Jacksonville Florida.
You' re right the tone on the S6 is insane. I was very lucky to buy one for a silly price. So pleased with it. Apparatently there is a problem with the neck if you need to reset it as they are glued with epoxy, this is if its 2006 and after.
Have you tried effect by Catalinbread "Sabbra Cadabra"?

That Schecter looks Nice 😃 I have Charvels, Jacksons, Ibanez, Fender, Gibson, PRS… but no Schecter 🤷♂️ I’ve heard a lot of good things about Schecter and will have to look into one 🙂
I would go for the Rhodes guitar. But really don't have much problems with any Floyd Rose I ever had...
I donlwoaded today the 5.70 and Coinopsx disappeared. Any ways to fix this? Thank you.
Schecter! I got the Schecter Damien FR-S last week and Friday I will get the C-1 Platinum FR-S. They play amazing!
Schecter is a banger. If you don't mind used, you can get em for a steal used.
For that price i think Chapmans have the better specs since you are getting stainless steel frets, epiphones have the worst fret wire in that price range by far. Expect any guitar to need a fret level and proper set up, you can buy the gear to do it for 2/3 hours of tech labour costs, so its worth doing yourself and learning.
I have three Epiphones none of them needed fret work.
@@JD-vj4go I have played several (and bought a blue casino) 2 years ago, all of them had bad quality frets. Epiphone is definitely behind some of the budget brands when it comes to this. Stainless steel frets make so much of a difference.

Ghosthorse !!!! Bang for your buck!!! Floyd, split coil knobs, burst buckers and 24 fret.
The only people that have trouble with Edge trems are people that shouldnt touch a screwdriver. You want a shredder and the best quality for your dollar. Get a RG550. Japanese quality at half the price. I have 6 ibanez's(one is the RG550). 3 with a edge trem. And i grab them and play. Rarely have to tune

There's a Gibson thunder horse on reverb that's driving me crazy. Their both similar quality go for style bro!
I own the Ghosthorse, and its a good playing guitar! i own a Jackson too, so far im liking the Ghosthorse more

Theres a problem you will face, when you bury compost, it releases sewer gases, compost Always belongs on Top of the soil, buried compost is ok for about 3-6 months, however after that, water and oxygen that seeps into the composted soil will be used up in the composition process which will then deplete the soil of oxygen and the sewer gases will build up causing many plants to die. Root rot will set in, the plants will get weak and die. There are exceptions to this, some plants like tomatoes are particularly resilient to root rot, some pumpkins can be grown in composted soil. Remember this rule, soil is sand, silt and clay, soil is the home of the roots, in nature dead plant matter build up on top of the soil and fungi will eat it and transfer it to the roots they attach themselves too. Theres even more to it than this, but All plants thrive in nature, nature’s way. Cheers for trying.
Our magic soil is dug up and exported to other areas, to seed new beds with fungal growth and lots of earthworms. So, i would hope that, by digging up this soil, it is well oxygenated when it seeds other beds.
Get a bucket of water my dude
Of course the more a solid top acoustic guitar like that Seagull S6 is played, the better it will sound. Keeping it in a case does it a disservice and won’t bring out its potential full sound qualities. It’s made to be played and is not a museum piece.
what firmware version do i get if i buy one today fresh brand new? 5.68 fresh from the box?
I also have an Epiphone 3 pick-up Black Beauty. It’s made in Unsung, Korea in April 2012. I bought it brand new in Jan 2013. I love it. It ushered in 3 more Epiphone Les Pauls that same year. I removed the stock pickups and put in Gibson USA 57s and 490R in the middle. Mine has an Ebony fretboard. Did I say, I love it?
I have the Epiphone version and it is a warm sound that can be bass heavy with my amp. Yes it requires different EQ settings compared to other LP types and obviously single-coil guitars.
Neck pickup looks out of alignment.
What is the temperature of the environment that you usually play in?
Long comment deleted cause I goofed. I have one, took time to get used to it. Ive run it through all my amps (5) and it sounds different through each. Glenn Fricker (youtube #SpectreSoundStudios ) did a sound comparison through various cones and found speakers do make a difference. Just food for thought. I love mine, but heard another say it was very dark. I dunno...to each his own. It fits the vibe I hoped for it. But I like all 10 of my varying guitars. Three S types two LP types and a 335 type plus 4 acoustics. Each is different in how they feel and they make me play differently wgich opens up a whole plethora of styles I can explore. Cheers, I hope you can connect with your!
It sounds like your pickup height might be too high. The magnets may be pulling the strings out of tune.
Epiphone LPBB
We have bucketsful of wild berries on Van Island north. You have to watch for stink bugs coz they don't complement the food. Reminds me of Gates' Cricket Ranches with human remains in their gut. Blech, right?
