Day 2 Pre Fish -The Backup Plan (Lake St. Clair)
Day 2 pre-fish for the TBBA Bass Tournament out of Mitchell's Bay.
On this outing we decided to focus on the weed beds and target largemouth bass and see what kind of bag we could throw together. With the weather not looking great for Sunday's tournament (high winds forecast) we decided to have a backup plan in case we couldn't target smallmouth bass on the main lake. We had another hot day with no wind and flat conditions. Didn't achieve the same weight as the previous day but we still had a pretty good day and managed to see what these fish were munchin!

Day 1 Pre Fishing - Lake St Clair Bass Tournament TBBA
Просмотров 26421 день назад
I'm not a guy that fishes bass tournaments, but often wonder if I should get more involved. I recently was asked to be a Co-Angler by a good friend of mine and join him on his boat for the TBBA Bass Tournament on Lake St. Clair which is a popular tournament for our area. We made this a 3 day event with 2 days of pre-fishing and tourney day. We set out to find some patterns. Eliminate some water...
Telesin Neck Mount or GoPro Chest Mount - My Thoughts

I've been a long time user of the Chest Mount for my GoPro's but I've always been looking for something different. Tried mounting the GoPro on my hat. Didn't like it at all! Then I seen a couple of RUclipsr's using the Telesin U Shaped Neck Mount with their GoPro's. I liked the idea better than the other 2 options but will it do what I want and will it be comfortable. Comfort being one of my bi...
Smallmouth Bass on a Frog Wins Junior Bass Tournament!
Просмотров 615Месяц назад
I would never think of throwing a frog for smallmouth bass but on this day Jack thought it would be a great idea. I encouraged the Boys to cycle baits and try something different. It paid off with some quality fish in the boat and a First Place Finish in the Erie Bassmasters Junior Bass Tournament in Michell's Bay on Lake St. Clair. I'm proud of the Boys. They worked hard and helped each other ...
Smallmouth Fishing and Motor Madness!

I finally got my boat out on the water and it didn't go without any problems! Not a good feeling when you're a long ways from shore. Did we get back ok? The best part of the day was that we caught some fish. I was also participating in a 1 vs 1 against my buddy Ken who was on his boat in another part of the lake. Who emerged victorious???
Searching For THE BIG ONE - Big Lake Erie Smallmouth Part 2

PB Alert! We return back to New York State waters searching for those BIG 6 pound smallmouth bass. In our first outing Ken landed some beauties in the 5 lb. range but we still couldn't find the elusive 6. In this episode a PB was caught. Was it the 6 pounder? Things to check out... Searching For Giant Lake Erie Smallies - Part 1

Areas exist on Lake Erie that sport really BIG smallmouth bass. Finding them is the trick. We've heard the stories and seen the pictures. We just haven't experienced it yet so we set off searching for these tanks of the lake in hopes of catching a personal best. Part 1 of 2.
The Net Man - No Fish Gets Away!
Просмотров 662 месяца назад
Early season walleye and bass fishing. Can be rewarding but can also humble you. A day that started with promise got harder as it went on and yours truly was relegated to manning the net. Being a Net Man is not something I take lightly. Your catch matters to me and getting it into the boat is my priority! :-)
St. Clair River - Spring Walleye
Просмотров 2073 месяца назад
We rolled the dice and decided to go walleye fishing on the St. Clair River instead of going to the Detroit River where we knew the bite was on fire! Best decision we made. Found the fish. Dialed in the baits and had a great time! I also talk about baits and boat control for newcomers to the river and end it off with a little catch and cook.
Transform Your Boat Trailer?

Do You Want to Transform Your Trailer? Change the Wheels! That was my case with the trailer for my Tracker Pro Team 175. I stumbled upon a great deal I couldn't pass up to make a complete transformation of this boat trailer. I even changed the lug nuts to some nice black ones which enhanced the look even more. I would go as far as saying this added value to the boat and trailer. Quick install v...
Lake St Clair Man Trip - Redemption Day (Part 2)
Просмотров 1654 месяца назад
Final day of the Trip. After a tough week of getting beat up by the weather on Lake St. Clair we finally got a good day to get out on the main body of water and did it pay off! We caught more fish in one day than we did all week. Multi species day of Smallmouth bass, walleye, perch and others. We could've thrown the kitchen sink and caught fish. Sadly the other guys had to leave a day earlier a...

Good video
Thanks very much!
Love your videos! Colour me green and call me Gumby!! Must be nice fishing St. Claire whenever you like!! Perhaps we could do a cross over video? X2O Angling and LUFC
Thanks! It is nice fishing St. Clair. It's been a bit tough this year but we're still managing fish. I much prefer fishing up north personally. Crossover video sounds fun.
A flipping virgin! I don't do it much, if I can avoid it, but sometimes you gotta get the elbows dirty. Neat to see you on those green fish. Too bad big pike don't count. Those wakes were nuts.
Yup a flippin virgin I am lol. Was fun to do. I honestly don't fish green often but would like to do it more. Ken gets me to those spots I generally won't go to. Thanks for stopping by bud.
Always fun to hang out with you on the water! You guys had another good day. I'm rooting for you to bring home the win! And as always, keep gettin after em!
Thanks David! Happy to take you along. Love sharing these experiences. I will say this much....I'm glad we went pre-fishing the weed beds. The weather plays a factor on tournament day!
Switch to an ultralight rod & reel with 4lb test, and all those bass will feel like whales. 😊
😂 you got that right!
Awesome! A giant!
Thanks David! He did so well! I was proud of him. What a fish!
A trailer inside a storage unit must be nice to have $$$ to burn
Honestly I don't have money to burn but what would you suggest for someone who was living in an apartment at the time and had no where to park it? I got the place super cheap and it was temporary so you assume I have money? I wish. Thanks for your comment.
Great video. TBBA is such a great tournament community to be a part of
Thanks bud. I couldn't agree more. Met some great people and had a lot of fun. Hoping to do more next year.
Great job guys! thanks for sharing this and for taking us along. Looking forward to the next episode! Hope you guys smash some giants!
Thanks David! It definitely was a decent start. Can't wait to get the next one out.
If I can finally get a boat I would love to start tournament fishing. Talk to Xtreme Marine, see if they want to sponsor me. You found some nice fish. Save the 4.9s for the derby. 😜
Yes the key ingredient...a boat. Hey I would love to talk to them for you but I'm not working for them anymore. You're on your own lol 😜 I wanted to save the 4.9's for the tourney but Ken kept catching them lol.
Any issues with interface
Everything is working as it should be. Nothing high end here. Just a plain Min Kota trolling motor with a Humminbird GPS Sonar. Put the same setup on my second boat with no problems.
What did you use for those walleye? Can't seem to find them while im there.
If my memory serves me correctly... My buddy was bouncing a tube off the bottom. I'm not sure about the colour but I know that's what he was using.
@X2OAnglingOutdoors Awesome thank you so much ill give that a try
@@Lethal210 my pleasure. Goodluck!
I am very much interested in this. I have a bad back, and when I am on the boat, after about 4 hours my back is starting to hurt.
One of the best purchases I've made buddy. Truly love this.
These Mercury ignition switchs must be cheaply made. Mine is out too.
You may be correct. I've definitely seen an uptick in views and comments in regards to this switch. Getter fixed and get back out on the water! Tight lines!
Thanks for sharing this buddy! Very nice!
My pleasure David! Thanks for watching!
Fished the whirlpool many times. The water is down at night and when they need hydro when people are waking up they release the water. I fished it for 10 years and only went in once. Respect the river or it will take you.
It is quite amazing how the whole thing works with the water levels. Sounds like you have plenty of experience with the area. I haven't been back in awhile. You actually fell in? Must have scared the crap out of you? You are correct in saying Respect the river. That place can be dangerous if you don't exercise caution. Thanks for watching!
This was amazing ! Good for you man getting those kids fishing, I love the enthusiasm when Champ caught that big one! Subbed
It was such a fun event to be a part of. Add Jack's excitement of catching the PB...Priceless! Definitely would do this again. Thanks for the support brother! Been following you for over a year now lol. Keep up the good work on the vids and in the gym!
I grew up here in Whitefish, we had a rope swing under that train bridge, swam in the rapids every summer, still hike up there when I return home for visits, it's beautiful up there
Now that would be fun having the rope swing off the bridge! Great times I'm sure. Such a wonderful spot. Would have been nice living up there. I do enjoy my visits to the Sudbury region exploring the rugged beauty of the area. Thanks for watching.
@X2OAnglingOutdoors this was our summer playground, there are so many other hidden trails that lead to the river that only the locals know about, this one is easier to find off the highway, a little further down Graham Rd you can find a trail that leads to a water falls we called Little Bear, hidden gem.
@@northerngurl6178 This was definitely an easy one to find. I could just imagine the other gems you all had in your back pocket. That's the beauty of it being your playground...you were always exploring. Thanks for the Graham road tip! Have you ever been to Paradise Lagoon? Located north of Wanapitei Lake? That was another gem I've been to that was not easy to find. Absolutely loved it there.
@X2OAnglingOutdoors no I've never been, but I'll keep that in mind, we usually stick to Walden or Chelmsford area, going back up there in September, my sister & I love to hike, I live east of Toronto now so its a huge treat when I get home
Fantastic video! Congrats to Jack for his outstanding finish and to Dylan for helping jack out with the frog! Really enjoyed watching the young men out there having fun and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Awesome that you shared your time with the young ones. Thank you!
Thanks so much David! This was a fun video to make. The boys made it easy and they were an absolute blast to be around. Hope they both stick with it. I will be doing another one of these events in mid August and I'm looking forward to it.
Great job, boys. A 4.5 is a doozy of a smallie, for sure! Congrats on the win!
Thanks buddy! He definitely earned it. They both had a great time on the boat.
Well done stef
Thanks Joe! Much appreciated. Cheers!
That was fun to watch! Those young men are both rock stars on the water!
Thanks buddy! Happy you enjoyed it. Those boys put on a pretty good show. So proud of them!
This is an older video but my son and I went out here caught a couple pike, but it was tough fishing!
Happy to hear you guys caught a couple! When I made this video the pike were more plentiful. I agree with you. The fishing is much tougher there now than before. Thanks for watching!
Lots of people are hating on these pedals, 99% of the time, it's because of their own simple mistakes, or thinking they are buying a pedal that will work like a cable-steer. This is actually not a control pedal like that, it is really a foot-operated fob controlling a motor-steered head. Swapping the springs out to 360's will make them much easier to use too!! It's a great product, but folks need to do the research before linking up amd just heading to the lake. Lots of folks have wound up going home wet because of these issues.
I absolutely agree! It's definitely not like cable steer. But what it does is gets your hands free. That was my sole purpose for buying it. Hated using the remote all the time when I'm trying to fish. Thanks for your comment.
I can’t believe that Rod locker can’t handle 8’ rods c’mon man
I got thinking more about what you said in the other Crestliner video. People are using longer rods nowadays. I remember when 6.5 - 7 foot rods were very common and now with different techniques people are using longer rods. I have a couple 8 footers plus I also have 7.4 and 7.6 rods. Times have changed. I love rod lockers but they have to fit my rods. My 2015 Bass Tracker I could fit 8 foot rods down the center of the rod locker. I was impressed by that.
@@X2OOutdoors I use all 8’ rods and I’m just surprised because the 16’ Vision and Discovery both store 8’ rods.
Hi, is it manual control (connected directly to the battery)?? Or automatic controlled by the transducer ??
Hi there. It is manual. Directly connected to the battery. Thanks for watching.
Kills me the rod lockers are so small on this but the 1650 Discovery you can put up to a 9 ft Rod
I love rod lockers on boats. I wish boat manufacturers would pay attention to layouts and size of rods they hold. It's kind of a big deal. I'm with you on that. Thanks for watching.
Bad gas
Appreciate the input. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing another adventure. Wish those motor issues hadn't happened, and you were able to make it to your spot, but that's how it goes sometimes. Appreciate you taking us along. Keep gettin after em! Hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks David! These things do happen. I need to go on a streak with no more problems. I participated in a bass tournament this weekend so it was good. Hope you have a good weekend as well.
The one v one isn't very fair if you have to spend time netting all of Sam's fish. I am not a fan of water that slack calm. You managed some nice footballs regardless. That is a scary problem to have on a lake that big. So what was the problem?
I agree with you. I told Ken I was at a disadvantage because of netting Sam's fish lol. We still got some good fish to be happy about. As for the boat I'm still unsure. Going to change out the fuel filter and maybe the gas as well to see if that helps.
That stinks about the engine trouble Stefano, but it ended up still being a good day of fishing! Hopefully it's something minor. Looks like a fuel issue to me.
I'm thinking of changing out the fuel filter. Not sure when that was last done. The boat was running great when we went out so I'm a tad confused by how it started to react.
Hate that you had issues but still a great video 👍🏼
Thanks. I appreciate it. Tight lines!
Wouldn’t turning the transducer around point the signal out in front of the boat?
It's a chirp sonar so it transmits down below in a cone shape. Don't think turning it around would make much of a difference but hey I could be wrong. Thanks for watching.
Give us a 5 yr update !!
It's still a good boat lol. I like your idea. Time for another video!
@@X2OOutdoors I have the same boat!! 2016 model. I LOVE it.
@@badluk1 that's awesome! Happy to hear that. It really is a good boat.
I grew up in azilda fishing that lake when there we no pickerel or bass in that lake.. Great video guys.. and thanks for reminding me of all the great times I had catch pike and crazy amounts of cat fish and perch in the lake..
Oh really. That's interesting. So I assume they stocked the lake with them. This was a fun video to make with my brother in law. Sadly he is gone now but this video definitely is a great memory of the fun we had. I'm happy to hear it brought back some great memories for you as well. Thanks for watching.
@@X2OOutdoorsdid you ever go from white water to the 2nd lake? Then u can portage to the 3rd lake where they had pickerel in it?
@@X2OOutdoorssorry about your loss.. Yes when I moved out of azilda they ended up stocking the lake with bass and pickerel.. We use to as kids use a net when cat fish would come up and scoop them and throw them in the boat..by the old red barn swimming area .. great eating..
@@murffromcanadamurf6414 no I never did. Something worth checking out in the future. That would be nice to try out.
Nice multi-species action. That smallie was a football. Love the goby
Thanks Sean. Smallies that size are hard to come by. Happy my buddy Ken took me there for the opportunity. Thanks to those gobies for helping feed those monster bass lol. Thanks for watching.
The goby ended the skunk streak! Those were some beasts of smallies. Just like in Hockey, the USA smallies win.
Yup that darn goby was my saviour lol. Yes sir some good smallies on the American side. I'm ok with them winning as long as they're on my hook lol. Thanks for watching buddy.
What an amazing fish Stefano! Absolute monster! That color Keitech is called smallmouth magic. Congrats on your PB!
Thanks bud! What an amazing feeling. Thanks for confirming the color on that Keitech. Definitely gotta pick up some of those and some underspins.
What a great Smallie,..congrats on the PB
Thanks Carl!
Another great day of fishing! Definitely some quality fish. Great looking underspin! Thanks for sharing buddy! Tight lines!
Thanks David! This was a lot of fun. I'm happy that Ken shared some of his stuff with me. I'm definitely going to pickup some of those underspins for myself. Thanks for watching buddy. Tight lines!
That's a beast! Way to go!
Thanks buddy! I was so pumped!
That's a GIANT! Great job!
Thanks David. Total shocker! Amazing fish 😁
Some really nice catches! Enjoyed the video and looking forward to Part 2! Thanks for always sharing your adventures!
Was a decent outing for the boys. Need to get the monkey off my back. Part 2 should be good 😜 thanks for watching!
Excellent net man! Enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing!
I've got a ton of experience especially with the company I keep always catching fish lol.
Very nice video! Some nice catches and some good information. Thanks for sharing this!
Happy to hear you enjoyed it! I tried to explain it the best I could. Those rivers can be tough to fish. Thanks for watching.
Some nice fish!!...fun stuff
The boys got some good ones. I get another crack at it in the next episode 😁
The M word! Awesome video!
Thanks John! Much appreciated buddy 😁
Love it, I want to go back.
It's a special place that requires some more visits!
It's been 10 months now how do you like the foot pedal? I don't care for mine.
Hey Dan! Sold the boat so I have no long term review on it. For the time I had it I liked it because my hands were free. In my honest opinion...I was never a fan of the wireless technology with it and could see that being an issue. I'm back to a cable steer with the new boat I have. Sorry to hear you're not a fan of it. What's the issue with it?
@@X2OOutdoors The springs in the pedal are too stiff, and it's not a natural feel at all. Someone said it's better to think of it as a foot operated remote
@@danhufferdoutdoors I agree with you on the stiffness part. I found it that way as well. Sometimes even a small lag in the motor engaging (a delay). Worked well enough to keep me happy. How did you find the battery life?
Battery life is good, best with matched batteries
@@danhufferdoutdoors well that's one positive lol.
i have a storage unit that has an outlet but the outlet doesnt work.
Well that sucks. Did they permanently disabled the outlets?
Ikr that is like.. somehow I guess if they had it potentially turning into a brothel scenariocor substances etc or swautters but otherwisevall I can imagine is the breaker is mereky tripped.. you might try requesting help with the lack of power for the light.,. Hopefully it coincidentaly is what powers said outlet you got.
