We lived in an old house where we had windows installed, new furnace, flooring etc.... My wife was complaining to me that she was getting shocked when checking her window boxes. I blew it off as she was crazy. How could that happen? Well the window installers drove their screws to mount the windows. Nothing wrong there except the previous owner had run electrical wiring where the window sills were mounted and the window guys drove a screw through. I put my meter in the window sill potting soil and got 90 vac. More sleuthing revealed the electrical faux pas. I just eliminated the circuit and all was well.
I had an electrical reading and tingle out of the shower faucet. Never even heard of that before very concerning. The water heater element was bad. Surprise!!!
i worked at a shop where if you touched the metal awning in the back and touched anything grounded it would hit you good. a screw thru the electrical wire holding the awning up.
The wire is going up into and out the top of the truss we can clearly see it. It's just reading the live wire that's more then likely 3/4 of an inch deep. Any dollar store detection device would pick up that close buddy😂
Good assumption😂 but if you look my meter is on the ladder, the meter truss plate had 120volts bc a nail from the outside. I used the stupid stick for all the RUclips electricians lol

I hate those volt sticks.they literally light up for anything. If any diy/homeowner/handyman are reading this, please don't rely on a volt stick. it could be detecting voltage from a nearby cable (ive had it indicate voltage on a dead cable because of it picking up from another cable the other side of a joist), sometimes friction can make them light up and beep too.theyre ok in a pinch, but i would never rely on just that.always double check with a continuity tester or multi meter at least. (Im sure you did double check it, and i imagine you're aware of the issues with volt sricks, especially if you're a spark too.more just putting information out there for those not in the trade). Im assuming they caught a cable with a nail or screw?
It was hit with a nail from the outside. Also I definitely understand the idiot stick can’t be trusted. I just used it for the video to show all of the RUclips electricians out there lol
If you’d actually watch the video you would see that I’m the 3rd step up a 4ft ladder. Also been doing this for 12 years I don’t need your input on where I should stand on a ladder
Typical case of builders that wants to texture and paint the drywall before they hang it, and just in general do this without following the correct and safe method of building.
OSHA training manuals don’t write themselves 😂🎉
Screwdriver in breaker?
Close but look closer
That's notre dame right, they was ranked very high then
Extremely ignorant doing that live, regardless of how skilled…

When they were putting the siding on my house- they hit nails right into my breaker panel.. 🤦♂️
I’ve had that happen several times!
I'm old school I never used them tools. My tongue worked just as well.
😂
Dead short
Back feed on the earthing system , isolate and resistance test across board 🤣

Watch the video again silly

Somebody phukkin wid you bro, using electric nails again...😮
That’s exactly what happened!
@@justinhilton6472 lol..now..? CALL THE PLUMBER🤣🤣😖
Sketch
Nail from the outside hit the wire. I had to replace it.
Its a nail threw the wire but they are going to blame the 🎨 guy
So true😂
Don't trust that fucking thing multi meter only....
Yeah, I only used it for the RUclips electricians.
Think there is a Short Circuit😂
Are u referring to the bad music shotty craftsmanship or the volt detector beeping and flashing ?
😂
IT'S A REAL DIAMOND 💎 😳
Get it 🤣😅😂
Shot nail through hot wire 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
You nailed it!

Somebody shot a nail thru the wire. Get a helper to stick his tongue to it and make sure it’s got 120v. Lol
That’s exactly what I was thinking lmao
I seee nothing.
You’ve got to look harder
Shocking 😂
😂
Checking his hypotenuse generator for leaks.
The nail plates are HOT.
Somebody effed up
The siding guy shot a nail into the wire which also is touching the metel truss plate.

Most people are clueless because most people aren't electricians but hell I know a lot of electricians that would be clueless
😂
Uh, your standing on top of the ladder instead of getting the correct length? No better than the idiot that nailed the wire.
