A7iv in 2024 as a professional photographer?

Sorry bit of a rant on this one but it's true. You only need the gear that does the job for you, I see so many photographers obsessing about gear when in reality 90% you don't need! Also I realized I had the color set to vivid on the last video hence the intense look of it 🫥 Course & Coaching here: lennon-s-site-1763.thinkific.com/collections #photography #a7iv #photographertips #photographer #...

Done, I really appreciate the help. I'm slowly getting my head around this RUclips thing 🙌
Very well said brother, sometimes having the newest tech is just overkill because the A7iv is not even outdated and people are scrutinizing it because of the A7v release lol, while a A7iii can still get the job done, with that said I’m getting my A7iv this week 😊
And why you not wait for the a7V relase ? And maybe get the new one with ai features. Or get the a7iv with lower price.😅 ?
@ read the last sentence in my comment
Yea exactly, most of the people I know in the industry shoot on older cameras for that reason, they still do the job just fine 👍
Yeahhh .. i think some basic knowledge of your camera will help your photography somehow.. maybe im crazy.
Well said…. I picked up a used a7iv recently only because a used one popped up with a very low shutter count and was half the price of a new body and it came with a 24-70 2.8GM and 2 cards. Half way thought it was a scam. He left the pictures on the cards(same number of photos as the shutter count). All his photos were astrography related. I believe he got frustrated and put the camera on the shelf for a bit before selling it.
Sounds like you got a great deal! 😎
Insightful. Thanks.

Social media can be usefull to lead people to your website. Not more than that. That's why I don't have links on my website towards my social media accounts. When on my website there's no need to go to the socials.
@@frits1463 totally agree, even though I have said links on mine 😬
Yes❤
Out of a lot of budgets and I don’t suggest this for new photographers but I paid 1,600 for a Sony A7IV with a 24-70 F2.8 GM with very low shutter count. Used cameras are also an option.
@@BouncingSparksJ yes used is definitely the way to go, I buy used when I can too. Return on investment is definitely better on used gear, great combo you got for that price 👏
Down graded to lumix gx80 so I always have a camera with me and it’s all I need for street, still have my good gear for major work but love the old lumix
Good work, the everyday carry camera is definitely the go 👏
Well said.
Cheers
I'm channelling Vivian Maier these days; sharing is too much like hard work.
Yea I hear ya 🙌
I agree. Instagram is not what it once was. Many of the people I follow don't post as much as they used to do, and some of them apparently have stopped posting. So I get a lot of advertisnig thrown in my face when I'm on insta. I have recently discovered an other app, which is focused on photography and sharing photos. It's called VERO - but I don't know how widespread it is and how much traffic you can get from it And then again it's a platform that is not yours. you don't have the control you can have on a webpage.
3:10 - I ignored LinkedIn until I started to get serious about RUclips and my website. It could lead to jobs but it certainly can help bring traffic to your RUclips and website. Cheers!
How does this actually work? Do you have two cards and the photos/videos are stored on each of them, so that if one card fails you have the exact same data on the other card?
@@bertherr8598 yes exactly, or in some cases like when I'm covering events where I do a lot of frames I'll write Raws to one and JPEGs to the other.
this dude is goated
ive just ordered the Sony Alpha NEX-5N and it comes with a lens, it was a decent price but im not sure if i will actually enjoy photography, so im only using it as a test :)

Im looking at the canon r100 for Christmas. I'd like to do some wildlife photography, portraits, and landscape. Is the r100 suitable for this, If so, what size lens should I get?
@@FilmMaker2878 great little camera, Canon make a RF 100-400 which is a great lens for the price and nice and compact. Will give the equivalent of 150-600 on r100 👍
@@LennonBright awesome! Thankyou so much for the fast reply and great video👍👍😁
I recently got into it. Bought an old used Nikon dslr. Very cost effective lenses for starting out.
@@RobVI perfect that's the way to go 👍
ok, but what camera bro?
@@Gack1e Sony all the way 👍
@@LennonBright 🤣
Your not just buying a camera, your buy in into a system. It is best to go to a camera shop that sells new and used cameras and put your hand on them. How they feel in your hand and their button layout, menus..etc makes a difference. Also learn about light and practice, practice, practice.
bro is living in the future
That's called future proofing your content 😎💯 great honest video though.

Awesome!
Thanks!
Iam low budget film maker please offer one camera please requesting
Fujifilm xt5 don’t have to edit anything if you use the filters they already have and the stuff looks very good for not being a full frame
Lenon, Why didn't it convince you to upgrade? You listed the Pros and Cons but you also address the cons as minor. A9iii is leagues ahead of the a9 > a9ii in terms of technology and features. So what made it not worth it for you?
You have a valid point, I guess for me it just didn't do anything that would really make a difference to my workflow, I like all the new tech but ultimately the a9iii wouldn't be a smart investment for me as it wouldn't do anything my a9 can't (other than flash).
Card slots are testicals, if one gets broken the other will keep the system going. So yes, you need both card slots.
🤣 great analogy
Man your content is awesome!! Keep it up bro. I cant believe your only at 37 subs!!

Thanks for this. I just got my biggest gig ever last month and I definitely spent quite a bit of the money on gear. Granted I used almost all of the gear I bought for the gigs, but in hindsight I did not need all of it. So I ended up returning some.
@@K3zz21 your welcome, it's easy to do isn't it. 🙌
So good! Needed to hear it mate. Gotta keep on fighting through and figure out how to squeeze enough juice out of this flailing economy to still be in the game once the winter season has passed. Also offload any unnecessary assets. Budget frugally based on current cash resource. Keep things simple. Downsize gear / package / home if necessary. Stay in the fight
@@MichaelDrowley You've got this! Definitely a slow year out there for everyone but if you can make it through it will definitely get better, sounds like you have the plan! 👏
One thing that helped me is exclusively buying second hand equipment. Instead of getting me the latest mirrorless camera as “recommended” broadly on RUclips (I do not need a small camera, I need a big and heavy camera, I need a very rugged camera, not some Chinese cheap plastic) I got myself 2 Mark IV with 3 amazing glasses (all 10-20 years old, all premium). So for 2000 USD I can start to work and make income. I don’t get this latest and greatest run, specially in photography. Build quality was definitely better 20 years ago, not now. Some tech needs to be tiny (cameras…), other tech as large as possible (TVs…). For me, the right size and weight is important. And I need material that I can treat like crap. Cool vid of yours. Subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing, I definitely agree with you I buy mostly used gear for that reason, the return on investment is much better. 👍
@@LennonBright True. Better simple than snob. True extension of human eye by camera, feeling the shot and 100% knowing how to use the camera are key and take a lot of experience.
Thanks for sharing this knowledge ❤
@@hjrozay my pleasure 🙌
Really enjoyed this video Lennon, thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
@@calvinhundreds that's good to hear, hope it helps 🙌
Amen brother!
@@UnknownS0und 🙌🙌
the best part is the splashes, rain, dirt in the photos. achieve em in one go w/out hassle. sharpness is ok, but i always prefer always capturing the moment so i can forgive the a9iii. def worth the buy if u take those action shots
Yea definitely, I have no problems with the image quality but was interesting to compare it with my a9 which was released in 2017.
Nice video. It is hard to find any reviews of this camera. Not looking good!
Definitely an awesome camera, whether it's worth the upgrade or not is the biggest question.
@@LennonBright My concern is the noise. how was your experience with the high iso noise? I have the a9 and a9mkiii rental. Thanks
Yea I hear you, like stated in the video I think the a9/ii still produce a better image. But even Sony themselves said the a9iii might suffer slightly in image quality due to the global shutter.
