I've seen so many discussions on Hulk basically boiling down to favoritism, skin deep observations or "How this Hulk is my favorite, yada yada..." A recent topic that made me question both how people see Hulk and Bruce as Characters...."Hulk rarely fights those in his weight class" or "He is just a strength character with no depth" Alright...nah...these two sentences have 1 big thing in common...fighting..., you, me, everyone wants this big green guy to throw down with the best of em...that's a constant...in this film and Ang lees Hulk (2003) but something that many including current marvel will fail on and continue to is the themes...if you take a step back...don't look at the body...look at the mind of Bruce and Hulk...they share a "Dissociative Identity System" two-beings...and sometimes a...storm of hulks share the same brain...and headspace...like the many cells in his blood...an army rests in his flesh...and hate eachother...HATE...but this can turn to admiration or a use for good...Hulk is a HERO after all...he'd rather be the one saving people or stopping evil...not just Bruce...yet they also share common traits...humility and courage being two...even when Banner is stressed he's fearless...more worried about the one in front of him even a villain..."Leave me...alone...you don't want this fight..." that isn't a threat...but a plea...for both of them... Hulk in both Planet Hulk and Ang lee's show themes of evolution...a imperfect being...but having traits of life giving...and the color green...why green...? (To be fair...the OG was grey...but nearly all others are green why is that..?) Green...like the grass...green like the mighty trees in a rainforest....symbolizem of "playing god" or gaining a cursed yet...liberating amount of power...like if you were in complete control in a vivid dream... Why is he the strongest one there is..? My answer...willpower...not just brute strength...mental as well..nerves extending...the mind feeling subjugated within itself...he is a tale of tragedy and nearly every amount of pain a human being can feel... To break ones mental chains? Let alone physical limitation...this is the power of story telling of Hulk...AND Banner...remove one or the other...completely...you miss the point of a curse...of tragedy...of struggle.... Remove Banner...the world ends... Remove Hulk...the world becomes less green..
