Today we're taking a look at Kentmere Pan 400 in both 120 and 35mm Formats. Kentmere Pan 400 is a budget black and white film stock, that's ideal for beginner film photographers, and those looking to shoot film as cheaply as possible. But can it compete with the more popular and expensive black and white film stocks? Let's find out by shooting some 35mm Kentmere Pan 400 through my Contax G1, an...
Overexposing vs Underexposing: Ilford FP4
Просмотров 44921 день назад
Today we're testing out how Ilford FP4 Plus handles Over Exposure vs Under Exposure. The Ilford FP4 was shot with my Pentax 67 and the 75mm f4 lens. This is the second black and white film stock we've shot in this series, and I was particularly interested in seeing these results, as I want to shoot more Black and White 120 film, particularly over the colder winter months here in England! How do...

Today we're taking a look at some images I shot on my Contax G1 with the 28mm lens, all of which were rolls of re-spooled Kodak 250D Motion Picture film, repurposed for 35mm film shooting. My First Ever Roll of Film

This week we're taking a deep dive looking at My First Ever Roll of Film. This roll was a 35mm roll of Kodak Colorplus 200, which I shot through my Canon A1 back in late 2019. Today I wanted to take a look at the images, share a book of the roll, and create some prints with Kyle McDougall on his home printing setup. As well as that, I wanted to remind myself about why I got into Film Photograph...

    The squeek is easy resolved, the camera needs a bit of silicon oil that's all, there are some "how to do" video's on RUclips about this should you look for them.

    If you care to hook the camera up to your phone and use the app you can get the View assist and zebras you're looking for I think you can also get the histogram. This does complicate the setup a little but it definitely addresses the issues you're concerned with. Always find it weird when people complain about this camera not being weather seal. I don't know of a lot of really popular weather sealed gimbals or people who's shoot in pouring rain with tiny cameras.

    Evening Daniel, Shooting with the Olympus Trip for the first time and I have purchased some Kodak Gold 800 film. I am just concerned about my images coming out blurry with it being my first time. Thank you.

    great video, seems odd that square is a format even though now I really like the look...sometimes I print/post squares from my modern digital cameras. Im old and when when used 6x6 for work it was an "8x10" formate that kept you from needing to flip the camera... I always had 8x10 marks etched on the screens. It was rare (if ever) to print a square. basically I had a 645 but actually exposing 6x6. years latter I switched to a Mamiya RB and rotating back so I wasn't "cropping" and getting a larger negative as well but they are massive and the price is down to a point I think I will end up buying a Hasselblad or maybe a Rollie TLR again.

    I'm surprised no one has commented on the problem with the Bronica, and from what you said it seems like it's an easy fix. It looks like you have the multi exposure dial on, it's a little lever on the right side of the camera (looking from the back). It's right next to the grip. The little lever should be in the up position. The newer ETR SI version shows a red indicator on the screen, I don't know if yours has it but I'm pretty sure that will fix the problem.

    I really enjoyed watching this! It’s a great budget filmstock. As for the lost shadow detail, in my experience Kentmere 400 seems to have a true speed of around 200-250 which means the shadows aren’t getting enough exposure and pushing can’t solve that issue. If you shoot anymore try a roll rated at 200 and see how it turns out!

    That’s a pretty bad light leak in your Pentax. What developer was this in? From that contrast it looks more like a push than anything at 400, very lost shadows there.

    • @DanielJamesBird
      @DanielJamesBird 17 дней назад

      Yeah not too sure where it's come from - has been fine up until now but may have to get it looked at. Also only seemed to affect the first couple images of each roll. And in regards to developing I had it done at a film lab so can't fully answer that - never experience any issues before and certainly didn't label it as needing to be pushed or anything. Appreciate the comment though thank you!

    As someone who taught photography before you were born, let me compliment your knowledge. Good job explaining the exposure triangle. In the old days iso was asa/din and for many shooters sunny 16 was the rule. We used to have to push 400 to 1600 and deal with the grain for low light. Man have we come a long way...

    I don't understand why you need the extension tube with the macro lens. Does it not give 1:1 magnification? If not, why buy that model when others do. Also, a longer focal length - say 100mm macro would give a longer working distance, allowing easier access to the film holder etc. One major benefit of using a camera to digitise film is the ability to use auto exposure bracketing, then create a HDR image from the frames, this is especially useful when copying transparencies with their high contrast.
