    Hey Allie. The sucktastic YT filter is deleting my comment for some very dumb reason (as it tends to do), so I’m gonna multi-part this sucka (see the replies to this comment) and see what gets through. Shouldn’t have to, but u do you, RUclips. 🙄

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster Месяц назад

      Hey Allie, can feel the disappointment from here. But, as you’re probably saying yourself, “Hey, it’s just ONE week.” 🤷🏼‍♂️ The frustration is probably coming from the fact that you’re doing most everything right, are in a pretty big calorie-deficit, have titrated-up… and yet, for all that, the scale is doing some rando crap. 🤬 😭 …

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster Месяц назад

      Alls I can say is, while being in a calorie-deficit definitely *matters,* and is a good predictor of how things will go long-term, short-term it’s far from being the hand of the divine. It is not absolute. 🤔 In my experience, right after titrating up - and *especially* if the new dose is really slamming you - there can be a period of time where your body is kinda freaking out a bit, and is trying to process the new reality/higher dose. …

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster Месяц назад

      And during that time where your body is kinda ‘righting itself’, you might not lose much if any weight. 😢 I saw this to some extent most every time I titrated up… first week on the new dose, didn’t lose anything. Sometimes two weeks. But then your body kinda ‘clicks into gear’, and the weight starts coming off again. Kinda fast too, if the dose was initially hitting hard. …

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster Месяц назад

      Anyhoo, I’d say *think long-term* with these meds. One week is nothing. And a ‘stall’ is actually *four weeks* in a row of no total loss. Your body just simply does not turn on a dime, especially past a certain age (I’m in my 50s, btw). Good luck Allie… and ‘serenity now’, if you get the ref. 🙏 (Oh, and YT… try to get a filter that you DIDN’T find in the bottom of a box of CrackerJacks. Wotta pack of maroons. 😟)

      I’m week 14 maunjaro , slow loser 15 lb down . I go up and down daily in my weight in a 3lb range . I can be under calories and gain 3lb overnight . However although slow the 15 lb down is keeping me going . Can be so infuriating and deflating though to see that scale go up ❤

    I was on 7.5 for 4 months. First month was pretty intense, borderline TOO strong on the appetite suppression… but I did lose 10 lbs that month. Overall, I think it was my favorite dose. It settled into a nice groove starting the second month on it, and didn’t cause much in the way of side effects. Also lost more weight overall on 7.5 than any dose so far (am currently on Zep 12.5).

  • @cloakster
    @cloakster Месяц назад

    Wow… 130+ views, and NO comments ‘til now? You have an oddly passive audience, Allie. 😆 Anyhoo, on your question… really, EVERY dose feels really strong that first month you’re on it. Like almost TOO strong. 😱 But then, your body starts to get used to it. Any side effects tend to become minimal to none. And, as you lose more weight, your body starts to fight back harder against that, by increasing your hunger hormones and decreasing your satiety hormones. And before you know it, that ‘almost too strong dose’ becomes ‘just right’, and then ‘adequate’, and finally, ‘not quite enough’. And then you titrate up again, to ‘almost TOO strong’. Just kinda the way it works. I was on 7.5 for 4 months, and that was my arc with it. Though there are a few ‘high-responders’ who do manage to hit their goal weight on 5 or even 2.5. The real thing to remember is that the manufacturer’s guideline to titrate up each and every single month is *too aggressive* for many (maybe even most) ppl. 😯 It can cause you to ‘get ahead of yourself’, be on a higher dose than you really need to be at the time, and of course experience considerably WORSE side effects than a more conservative/slower dose increase schedule would’ve put you through. 😭 As long as you’re still losing on a particular dose and side effects are minimal, there’s probably no burning reason to move up. 🤷🏼‍♂️ So yeah, if you were still losing on 5, maybe you should go back to 5. But, there’s a good chance that 5 will eventually ‘run its course’ down the road, and you’ll then need the 7.5. But, that doesn’t necessarily have to be RIGHT NOW. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Work! Exercise so that when you're in your 70's you can walk without a walker, not so that you look good in a bikini in the summers because when that's the only reason you exercise you will never really be satisfied with how you look in the bathing suit anyway.

    Exactly right. 🌟 And this idea that you have to be a diabetic to be on a GLP-1 medication is nonsense. Not only have the FDA indications for these types of meds spread beyond T2D to obesity, but they’ve already spread further than THAT… to CVD (Wegovy approved for cardiovascular disease). And will very likely spread *further* in coming years, to things like fatty liver disease, kidney disease, sleep apnea, perhaps even Alzheimer’s. They’re actively discovering more and more conditions that these meds can help. So, GLP-1s may have *started* as T2D medications, but that is definitely NOT all they are now, or what they will be in the future. 🤔 So, to all the ppl out there with loud, angry, low-information opinions on the matter (aka “How DARE you use meds that were intended for diabetes!!”)… you’re not keeping up with the science, and you don’t get it. 🧪 The meds are winning and will continue to win FDA approvals for, and be used for, all the things that they’re found to be safe and effective to treat. And you’re just gonna have to get used to it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Sums it up. Can also add from direct experience that NutriSystem is indeed lame. Just extreme calorie restriction hiding behind pricey proprietary food (that isn’t even good). You could do *exactly* the same thing for cheaper by just cutting your portions in half. If that was sustainable (it isn’t for most, at least w/out GLP-1s).

    The meds don’t ‘stop working’. Really. 🤔 Rather, what happens is, as you lose more and more weight, your body starts ‘fighting back’ to defend its weight, by increasing your hunger hormones (ghrelin), decreasing your satiety hormones (leptin, etc), and turning down your metabolism some. 🥶 And the more weight you lose, the *harder* your body fights back. 🥊 And it’s REALLY good and persistent at doing this, which is why it’s hard to not only lose a lot of weight, but also to KEEP it off. 😢 The meds do offset this to a good extent, thankfully. 🙏 Sounds like you’ve lost a fair amt of weight, your body is ‘doing what bodies do’ in response, and it’s now time to titrate up to 5mg. ⬆️ And also double-check your lifestyle changes to make sure they’re all on-point. It helps. Good luck. 🌟
