Feeling Like a Fraud in Game Development? Beat Imposter Syndrome Today
I make games and i don't play them. Except Chrono Sword lately. Coz i need time to make my game lol.
Gotcha hahahaha, more true today than ever with every game featuring +1.000 hours of content...
@@dc_robledo yea and have you noticed how social medias and all take too much time now? i mean in my case i'm a f*ing victim of this, that's why for example i decided to control my time on insta, youtube ai videos though takes me a lot of time...freaking bad for game development, i think i shoulduse some time management stuff. Thanks for the answer man. Have a nice day and happy new year
@@alphablender I understand yeah, best of luck with that <3
cool video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Any improvements you'd like?
Thanks!
I mainly work with multiplayer, endless replayable games, the same type of games I was used to play before entering the industry. Now, I enjoy single-player story-driven games a lot when I have some free time. Most likely because I dont fall so easily in analyzing which features will cause issues with the communities when I play SP Games 😅 Good video!
I can relate yeah hahahaha. Thanks!
I don't know if knowledge and skills can not be lost as you say. After 10 years of my career I have not touched some technologies, frameworks or programming languages and I would say most of this knowledge or skills are pretty much lost. Sure, I could re-train a bit and recover thouse memories faster than I needed to learn from the first time, but still knowledge or skills are not eternal and get rusty if you don't use them regularly.
I agree yeah but I feel like they are much more secure than anything else since they are completely up to you. Your salary depends 100% on your employer, if they fire you, you lose it. But the things you know can always be remembered, as you mentioned. Do you have any tips to not get rusty on those?
I see Stormlight Archive :D Great tips!
I see you're a person of taste 🍷. Thanks ^^
These videos are great. If you added some background music and between cuts zoom in slightly then later go back to the regular frame size to maintain retention. Also adding subtitles natively as well as putting more diversity in your voice will help keep the viewers attention instead of being almost monotone. I think your channel could blow up if you try some of these things.
Thanks! That's super valuable feedback right there :). Do you any specific idea for the music?
@@dc_robledo Probably anything royalty free, bonus points if its music from a game you've made + a graphic in the corner of the screen displaying the name of the song and/or where it's from.
Sounds cool! Thanks
Unfortunately, the only security comes from a Public position, at least here in Spain. I’m kind on a nice position right now inside the gaming industry and still looking out for opportunities outside of it just in case. Nice video!
I feel you hahaha. Thanks man <3
Enhorabuena por el nuevo video, me encanta tu contenido 👍💯
Gracias ^^
True 🙌 Mixing hobby with career is a nightmare.
Yeah, it's difficult... Do you have any strategy in this regard?
Got this recommended after a video about Piranhas eating each other. Let that sink in... ... Get it? Like the finless piran-
That's one goal crossed in my content bucket list 👍
This video was a very well put together video and I loved the editing. You deserve a lot more subs.
Thanks <3. Glad you like it. If you have something in mind that would be valuable for you don't hesitate to tell me, I'm always looking for new video ideas!
What if the legends that build this giga games all by them selves is the thing keeping you attached to game dev? Pd: 3:33 what are u doing to the chiken? 👀👀👀
Yeah... that's something I can relate. I usually try not to get too hooked in inspiration from people so big, what works best for me is looking at people who are 1-2 steps ahead of me and seeing how they feel and if I'd be ok having a life similar to them. Because I've found out that taking some big-ass names as inspiration leaves so much of their story up to interpretation and I may be missing out some pitfalls that I couldn't get through myself were I to follow the same path. P.D: The chicken is fine, I promise
Totalmente! Buen video 👍
Thanks!
Nice video bro!! I feel so identified 💀
Glad you enjoyed ^^
Great video! Thank you, and best of luck on your future projects!
Thanks! Glad you like it ^^. Best of luck for you too
Aprovecha y aprende.

Excellent video Dani, I will apply your advice 😊
Thanks 😊
Not to bash on your accent, you most probably speak more languages than me but I would definitely try to improve my diction and pronounciation if I wanted to reach more people on RUclips who are english speakers. I don't think many people realize how important mental health is as game developers. Too many people stop playing games when they focus on making games. But it makes them worse developers, because you can learn so much as a developer from other people. It also helps to regain your love and passion for what you do. And there are people who think being game developers is all fun and games when you dont realize that alot of game dev is just plain work. Which is why its best to see indie game dev as a hobby, not as a job. Because there is so much stress associated with getting bills paid when your budget is running out and you still havent finished features and sections of your game. Great video
Glad you liked the video! Mental health is such a little discussed topic yeah... (I'm working on the speaking hehe, thanks for the feedback. I hope it wasn't so bad 🙏)
@@dc_robledo Not at all. You were completely understandable. The accent made certain words a bit hard to hear. I know things like that can turn people off, especially for others who also struggle with English.
@@silchasruin4487 Cool! I'll work on it. Thanks for the healthy feedback 🫂

Fantastic video, thanks for the advice! 👍
Thanks!
I always feel like I dont belong when I start a new job, I get sad when I cant solve all the company problems in the first week of work 😅
Yeah, I feel you... What helps me in those situations is trying to find a balance between sticking to your professional values, like being proactive enough to say out loud what is wrong, and accepting the fact that most C-levels won't listen to you
Good video!! 🙌🏻 good luck with the new channel man!
