j v is one hell of a story teller

Listening to reader is like boating through heavy waves, up then down, up then down. Up as a shout then down to a whisper, shout then whisper, shout then whisper. Getting seasick. I've been seasick before, eventually you get over it. A Jules Verne voyage is worth it.

Goodness Gracious. One cannot "fathom" the extent of research that went into the research of the AMAZONIAN fauna & flora... not only in English... but the AMAZONIAN languages as well. How the DEVIL was this done in the 1880"s... AND WITHOUT COMPUTERS... !!!

My impressions in the same vein as in the manner of Jules Verne character... " If the happenstance should occur... my appearance in this happening will surely be the ultimate occurrence in my being on Terra Firma in this part of our existance on the Western portion of EARTH all those past aeons of time." i.o.w... if it were possible, how I wish I could have been part and parcel of this expedition in South America of that past time.

Loved the book, but too bad you didn't have a real person reading it...the robotic aspects of her voice took away from the story...But thanks anyway.

The reader is precise yet is just going through the motions; a boring and sleep inducing reading.

To put in perspective, just THINK... this book was written 41 years BEFORE the TITANIC. Impossible to comprehend.

Cannot believe the ENORMITY of a sea going "monster" in 1871 when this book was penned. This is truly AMAZING.

One of my favorite movies. After watching it several times, I listened to the audiobook. For me, I think seeing the movie first helped. The book is great.

Really great book. The language used back then seems more advanced than today, how is this i wonder?

An amazing aùther found so many new sþories

This may be the voice of a man, but it is not a man reading. The telltale mark of AI are apparent. It's good story, and I enjoyed it; but only an intelligent, self-conscious being can read properly.

Mysterious Island ended with a finality that made a sequel impossible. This is an excerpt -- not a sequel. Where is the ending?

Was just wondering, is there a female English? Asking for my English teacher, she didn't know either.

Almost certainly the most ridiculous plot Verne ever created. Even by the somewhat limited scientific knowledge of 1877, this must have been regarded as a joke by anyone with even a basic education. Why the producer has chosen an American AI voice for a story set in Scotland is the final insult.

Once again, the tremendous amount of RESEARCH involved into the writing of such a book is truly ASTONISHING.. mechanics, marine, ship building, fauna, flora, folk lore, biology, geography, history, warfare,.... WoW..!!!

To even think this book was penned in 1875 is mind blowing...The amount of research that went into this book of Jules Vernes"s book of ALL THOSE MANY YEARS AGO boggles the mind over & over again. MARINE, GEO- GRAPHY, MEDICAL, HOMEOPATHY, NATURE, HUMAN BEHAVIOUR, FAUNA, FLORA, etc etc.!!!
