Thank you Michael! The last set of Ovankol sides i put in my bender cracked on the upper bout area. I did not steam them prior. I will try this.
I know I see u have plans for like x braces , do u have any plans for rosettes as an example
Hello Michael, any tips on bending Ovankol? Thanks!
Should be easy enough just make sure you have them thin enough and if you follow the procedure I showed in the video, should go well. Thanks for watching.
U inspire me I'm a fairly new builder, I don't have a CNC but u still make me believe that I can do good rosettes thank u
I appreciate your comment, keep working at it! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful sky clamps
Thank you, yes the gobar deck works well. Thanks for watching!
@mcclellandwoodworks that H bracing scheme is an inspiring innovation. Also thank you for sharing the radiusing dish. As a builder( home) it's utility to purpose is a thing of beauty. Do you radius backs also ?
Good day, Sir, Question; would it not be faster, ie less time and labor to cut a notch out of the ladder braces to attach over the center brace? Instead of taking all the time to measure, cut, chisel and then glue the ladder brace into place? Just an observation. Cheers
That would actually be harder to do for me. The brace needs to fit the back precisely so the cut out would have to match the profile of the back center strip precisely as well. It is easer to continue with the way i am doing it. Thank you for watching and your comment.
@mcclellandwoodworks Thanks 😊
Welcome 🙂
Missing your videos, I hope all is well with you!
I've watched a lot of video's but yours is so clear, logical and exhibits your 40 years of experience. You are great at it - skilled with the camera and editing. We all learn differently, and our thought process are different - but I really resonate with they way you have presented this information.
Thank you for the comments the video process takes a lot of time so I'm glad you like it. Thank you for watching!
Really good content Michael!
Thank you so much!
Hi Mr. McClelland.Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with us all.Your videos by far are the best I've seen.Thank you for the Inspiration.
Thank you so much. These videos do take a lot of time and effort to make & a comment like yours helps make it all worth while. Thanks for watching!
That stupid music covers the voice of the man... annoying.
loud stupid guitar... not clear what the man says... wasting lot of time to say which wood he uses for top, side, back,,,
Thank you for commenting. I can only say that you are correct. that was my second attempt at recording and producing a video of my work. I have just released my 64 video and i think you will find that i have improved greatly. Thank you for watching.
Incredible! Love watching this beautiful craftsmanship!
Thank you very much!
Another great video my friend. We miss you at Cedar Street. Hope to see you soon.
beautiful work as always Michael! Very good info.
Sorry to respond so late I've been buzzy around here. Thanks for the comment and as always than you for watching!
Very nice bridge. I’ll be making a few jigs like you have thanks for the ideas and inspiration.looking good by the way
Sorry to respond so late I've been a bit in the weeds around here. I'm glad you like the jigs let me know if how yours turn out. Thanks!
Hi. Perfect job as always 😊 Where did you bought that router base ? The best from Kent
I have had that rourer base for a long time , i don't think thay offer it any more. I is a Dremal model #230 Router Attachment. You might find one on Ebay. Thanks for watching!

Looking good great work
Thank you for the comment, and for watching!
Hey Michael. Just finished watching your content and wanted to say thanks for the level of details in you videos. Your finished guitars are beautiful - nice details! From one McClelland to another (from up north)!
Thanks for watching, it's nice to have a member of the clan onboard. Think On!
The worst acoustic sounding guitar pick-up. The Piezo .
I tend to agree that a Passive Piezo pickup can have a thin or brittle sound and have a much lower output than active types. However you will find that most of the pickups offered by L.R. Baggs and Fishman utilize one of the four different types of piezoelectric material in their acoustic guitar pickups. Not counting their Magnet or Microphone models of course. By far the best sounding and most prevalent acoustic guitar pickups available today utilize Piezo technology. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Thank you for the instruction Mr. McClelland.
Thank you for watching I hope they help.
Thanks Michael! Great video.
Thank you!
Do you find that the shellac yellows the ambrosia much? I’m not loving the color of the wood after the shellac and on my project i’ve sanded it back to try something else.
I do like the way the shellac looks on my Ambrosia maple builds. I did not want a stark blond look, the shellac helped bring out the flame of the wood without totally coloring the muted tans and blues. Now not all shellac products are created equal. I use a product by Zinsser Bulls Eye Sealcoat and cut it with denatured alcohol before use. Thank you for the comment and for watching. Good luck on your project.
@@mcclellandwoodworks I'll check it out. Thanks for the reply!
Such a great series. Thank you

Really enjoying starting to watch this video series. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching. Hope you enjoy my work.
Amazing work!
Thank you, glad that your watching!
Looks very nice! Which CAD/CAM do you use for your CNC design?
I use Tubrocad for some design elements but the majority of the work I do in Vetric VCarve Pro 12.0.
Another great video
Thank you, I'm glad your watching.
Always a great video Micheal! Interested in the sound port. Haven't done one yet.
Thats the next video. Thank you for the comments.
Great video
Thanks!

Always very nice work Michael.
I appreciate that, thank you for watching.
Hello, Always a good video. Where do you get your wood from?
Hello Patrick I Have a stash of East Indian Rosewood (25 sets origanally) that I purchased many years back. I responded to an add in a Luthrie journal to go in on a container load of Rosewood. I do not remember how much that cost me, but it was a good investment. The majority of my other lumber came from a Company no longer around. South American Lumber Imports located in Evergreen AL. about 117 miles from me. Even thougt they were a Wholsale distributer, I had met the owner through the music store that I was working at (he was a keyboard player). He would let me come up and we would go through stacks of Mahogany and Nogal and pick out the boards I wanted. I still have lots of boards. The Maple I purchase from CurlyMapleWood.com on line. Good luck with your building Cheers Michael
Love your videos. Where did you source that beautiful ambrosia maple from? I'm looking to give that a try myself.
Hey Patrick, I get my Maple from www.curlymaplewood.com/, great folks and fast shipping. They always have a good selection to choose from, I try not to go by there too often, I have a weakness for beautiful woods. Do you build? Thanks for watching. Michael.
@@mcclellandwoodworks I'm working on my very first build. Videos like yours are very helpful, especially the little jigs you have to make the process more efficient and enjoyable.
I'm just starting out as a Luthier and I found your videos very helpful..so I just want to say thank you for taking the time to make the videos...very much appreciated.
Great, good luck with the building. If there is topic you would like for me to cover please let me know. Thank you for the comment and for watching.

Thank you and Happy New Year.
Happy new year! Thank you.
Great videos - very helpful - thanks.
Thank you for watching!
REALLY great video and thanks so much for sharing your process. I have quick question/comment. I don't think I've seen such wide brace material before on a build? I think Martin uses either 1/4" or 5/16" widths and am not suggesting you should follow Martin's lead but am curious about your choice of brace width and thank you again for such a great video!
Actually the main braces in the H and X patterns are 5/16" thick and the finger braces are 1/4". Than you for watching and keep on I have many more videos planned!
Thanks for the reply, I guess they just look wider in the video@@mcclellandwoodworks
Thanks for sharing the video? What are the differences/advantages of your H-Bracing vs your X-Bracing? Thank you!
The H braced guitars give a more focused sound sort of like what you would get from the early Harmony, Kalamazoo, Kay style ladder braced guitars. It's a Vintage sort of sound. I have two other bracing patterns that I use as well and I plan on doing a video comparing them all. Thanks for the question & for watching!
Is there a template for the H Bracing system?
Your videos are amazing. My english is not good enough, but i can understand you. Thanks for sharing your jog. I really love you channel.
Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you enjoy them. They take a lot of time to produce, keep watching!
How much pressure does the spider leg contraption place on the wood?
That is a good question, so I put a scale under the deck and with one gobar on it. It produces 5 lbs. 12 oz of pressure. Know I know. Hope your doing well thank you for your support.
Wow! That’s a good bit of pressure! I WILL own a McClelland piece one of these days. I hope you have a Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well Larry. Come visit the shop sometime and play a few. @@larrymcsween2952
