I love your explanation about not retaliating if bitten since YOU are the one picking him up. 😊
That broad-banded water snake was beautiful & super chill. 😊
Nice work man always enjoy these videos... like I said you're the copperhead king so no wonder there's one hanging out nearby haha
@jm12green31 Thanks! It's always nice to hear from someone who enjoys what I'm doing out here.
Looks like a ribbon in that first log you flipped!
@@wildhareonthegulfofmexico3539 Yeah, I didn't see that until I was editing. 😆
@@reptilequest Epic, a little better day than you thought at first. Looked like Louisiana.
perhaps trynna stay warm in the cold? very cool to see!
@LordVesus The ground was pretty wet too.
I had a biggen(4' male or female idk never checked) get out one time when I was away from home, with two pit bulls roaming free in the house. I found it coming up some shelves in the boiler room. Caught me off guard seeing a copperhead off of ground level. Lol. Did you disclose where about you were in this video?
My biggen was also my most deadliest copperhead I've kept captive. One strike instant kills on jumbo mice. I had another copperhead that would strike a mouse a half dozen times before it would die. The bigger they get they better they get at the amount of venom needed for a quick kill, I've learned. Babies/juveniles/pre adult tend to give a weak shot of venom when striking for food at least that is, in my experience.
flipping sucks. for so many reasons

Cool man that was a lovely snake...btw what kind of shrooms are in your neck of the woods? Amanita?
@@jm12green31 I'm not really a mushroom forager, so I'm not sure. I just think they look neat.
Nice finds!!!!!😊
So beautiful ❤️
@@DiamondzGirl Thank you
Pretty animals! Have you ever been bitten?🔥💪🏻
@sheldon740 I've never taken a venomous bite. I actually use a little more discretion than it might appear. I never push a snake further than it's willing to go. Of course, I know that it is possible for things to go wrong in under a second, though.
I enjoyed this. Have a few Eastern Browns in my area, (South East Queensland)... they usually just mind their business and don't bother humans.
@@BassGirlSusan1961 There are certainly plenty of snakes I'd love to find in Australia! And thanks!
Cool stuff man always enjoy the content. Hey do you ever find western diamondback snakes?
@@jm12green31 I've been thinking of taking a short trip to find them.
@@reptilequest nice can't wait to see it. I'm in the deep South and we have timber pygmy and eastern diamondback rattlesnakes but have always been interested in WDB snakes
Hey man you should call yourself the copperhead whisperer haha... never seen a guy handle those snakes with such ease but it's nice to watch.
Sweet little copperhead. 😊
Cool little hiding spot.😊
The thumbnail was great. I love that little ribbon snake.
@@jtamsmom5 Thanks!
I wonder if those constant leaves on their back bothers them. 🤔
Wow!! Cool story!thank you for not killing them!

@@DiamondzGirl You rock!
Nice man just came across your channel recently... Makes me a little nervous seeing you handle venomous snakes but seems like you've got plenty of experience
@jm12green31 I've been handling snakes since I was a little boy. My father had Burmese pythons and Boas. Even had a couple of gators for a while. I started herping (looking for reptiles) when I was about 7 or 8. That said, handling venomous snakes has risk no matter the skill of the handler. But I personally can't resist studying them up close. So I decided to develop the skills to do so. But don't worry, I'm not delusional . I'm as cautious as I believe I need to be in order to not be bitten. Though I may walk the line at times. And of course I make sure to mention to my viewers that attempting to do this after watching a RUclips video is not smart or safe. Thanks for watching! And don't forget to subscribe if you liked my video. It really does help the channel.
@@reptilequest cool man will do and loved the coral snake video recently
❤
Beautiful ❤️
Two years ago there was a Copperhead bloom. Game & Fish said it runs in 7 year cycles. One of my dogs got bit 5 times in a week (on a run leach) in the back yard. I killed 6 around my house, and one extremely large one on my neighbors front porch that summer. I saw 3 more ran over on the road within a mile of my house. A neighbor about a mile away was bit on the arm while picking up trash. My property backs up to sections of heavy, rugged timber land.
Would they take advantage of vertical space, or am I better off getting a 2*4*1 ft enclosure as they wouldn't climb enough to justify the height
July 2023, I found a 4 1/2 foot Eastern copperhead coiled on my back patio last year when I was taking our 3 dogs out at night. The 1st dog went out, I saw the snake and stopped the other 2, but the 1st dog kept jumping over the snake as she tried to figure out why the other 2 dogs were shut inside. The snake didn't try to bite her. I had a broom, and a dog poo pick up rake, and was eventually able to pick up the copperhead and take it way back into the woods to let it go. That snake was stunningly beautiful and large, it's colors and pattern were very bright. September 21, 2024, my wife comes to tell me the dogs found a snake in the backyard and takes me out to show me. Turns out, it's not 1 snake, it's 3 Eastern copperheads, 1 of them is huge and I'm sure it's the one from 14 months earlier. They are semi coiled together. None made any attempt to flee or threaten. The other 2 copperheads are about 30 inches long, and they are stuck together by a thin nylon band that they must have crawled through. The band was stuck about 1/4 of the way down 1 snake and 1/2 of the way down the other, the one 1/4 way stuck had its mouth open, not in a threatening way, but more like it was gasping to breathe. I could see the nylon band had sliced through the skin of 1/4 stuck snake a little and it had a wound, not too bad, but it was only going to get worse. I got a pair of scissors, the dog poo rake and was able to cut the string and free the 2 snakes. Immediately, the 3 snakes split up and began to crawl away in different directions. We were able to pillowcase and relocate 2 of them, the 3rd used its camouflage, and we couldn't find it. I have no knowledge of snake behavior, but I couldn't help to wonder if the huge copperhead was protecting the other 2, maybe the 2 smaller ones were offspring, but it was fascinating behavior. It's obvious that the big snake has been around our yard for a very long time, probably all 3, yet it never bit our dogs or us.
Copperheads are gorgeous, my favorite is Timber Rattlesnakes
❤
No getting bitten allowed! 🙃
Absolutely 2 different copperhead bites, a Timber Rattlesnake bite , 4 bites from a single Black Widow spider , a Brown recluse spider bite.
Absolutely love speckled kingsnakes!! I wish they were more common like they used to be
@@lanceeggenberg9595 I'm a big fan of them myself .
Finding the 2 egg clutches was so awesome. Cool video.

😮😮😮
Wonderful sharing ! Keep it up the good work & I always there to support you !
Take it from someone who knows being tagged by two seperate copperheads a Timber Rattlesnake 4 bites one Black widow a brown recluse it's not fun. When you work with veno.ous species no matter the precautions and safeguards bites occur. Milking snakes and spider's venom used for antivenom and research.
Beautiful snakes!❤
