As I know, MG Road and surroundings were previously British settlements. So, most of the areas (especially Church street) have European vibes (or it is perceived like that). I think Koramangala has overtaken this with its more modern outlook/nightlife.

I guess way back in the 90s there were no street vendors on Brigade/Church Street and more of pubs and theatres (the iconic Rex was landmark) were present. The crowds were more posh and manageable too. Other roads in the vicinity which were popular were Residency, Lavelle street and the UB City Mall.

I guess once the double decker flyover/metro is completely operational, traffic will be completely eased. Already eased from BTM to HSR as partially it is operational.
