Macaque has spent five centuries letting his grief fester into anger when he finally finds Wukong again with new friends. Macaque learns the truth about Sun’s disappearance, but grows angry again when the king chooses to continue to the west instead of returning home with him. He impersonates the king and attacks Tripitaka. Wukong finds out and kills his old friend.
That’s where LBD would come in and bring Mac back to life and junk.
