Modifying and Automating the Addi Knitting Machine for Multi-Color Knitting. For fun and Profit!
My ongoing project of turning a basic, manually cranked Addi Express Kingsize knitting machine into a fully automated multi-color setup. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but I’m making progress, and I’ll show you where things are at so far.

I would love to recreate your machine. So I would love to see a deep dive into the process and maybe having a old school cool step by step walk through. Amazing videos and I am sure that your channel will blow up soon.

dude, i appreciate your effort but that yarn run out detector is such an over-engineered piece. i would probably just use a 3d printed hoop with an distance sensor and the if the hoop empty measured distance is diameter of the hoop otherwise there is some yarn in it so it's safe or etc... but your idea is so complicated yet awesome, respect!

That is cool. I have many uses for something like that. Nice software also. I'm a 60 year old DUDE with a foot long beard that lives where it's deeply cold for 8 to 10 months. I look forward to more and hopefully acquiring a few of your upgraded devices. Tim in North Idaho, USA.

And, like other commenters - looking forward to more. And, would totally buy this if it goes into production.

I've seen a similar project for flat knitting machines called AYAB that @KnitFactoryImpl talks about on their channel. I like how your setup seems a bit more portable. I wonder how compatible it would be with one of the 3D printed CSM projects.

I'm curious as to why you started with an addi/sentro style machine, rather than modifying a printable circular knitting machine that would give you significantly more stitch control (like the ability to put needles out of work) and an easier time with design modifications.

This is an absolutely amazing design! I love knowing how things work and I’ve watched several other videos on this type of knitting machine. I almost bought one that was for sale locally, but it was gone before I could pick it up. So I guess that makes sense that this would show up in my feet. I really like the software you designed as well! Subscribed!

another youtuber designed a diy 3d printed knitting machine which could be worth checking out bc it would make you more independant and make the endevour more scalable (and allow you to make bigger or smaller loops or panels relatively easily I think

Very cool! The software also looks brilliant. I could imagine a farm of devices like this, as I'm pretty sure one person could easily supervise quite a bunch of these machines especially if (or based on the video, when) you get the knot detection working.

knot detector - a piece at the yarn intake that has an opening the diameter of the yarn. It could be made adjustable to different yarn diameters. a sensor can be attached to this piece to pause the machine when it encounters resistance

This is phenomenal! You could make millions by making just a larger circular machine with more needles so the regular hats will fit on adult heads better without so much stretch! You are brilliant!❤❤❤❤❤
