    Coach, everytime I shoot the ball, my front foot will automatically step one-step toward the rim. Switching my whole body weight toward the front foot before I jump into the air. *I'm shooting with 1 motion* Is there any suggestions to correct my bad habit?

    • @HoopsProcess
      @HoopsProcess Год назад

      It's hard to say without looking at it, but it seems like you've just formed a habit to step forward before the shot. It could be mostly random and just be something you've learned by repeating it so much, or you could have picked up the habit because there's something wrong with the rest of the shot that your body's trying to compensate for. The way I would correct it is by practicing shooting from really close, building the correct muscle memory, without stepping forward. Then as you get comfortable start shooting from further and further back. If you're doing it to compensate for something wrong with the rest of your technique, you'll definitely want to redesign your jump shot though. But to start, just bring out the shot slowly and see how that goes. Good luck & let me know how you go 🏀

    I have handles. But my prob is I don’t always know when I have the defender beat. And sometimes when I think I do. They walk me off and I get jammed and there not really a way to change direction. Also. Do you got any tips on how to move smoother. I’m kinda stiff and rigid.

    • @zureai

      If you are stiff and rigid then you defs don’t have handles. Cause people with handles move like water

    • @HoopsProcess
      @HoopsProcess 2 года назад

      Yes Roman, it's generally a foul. Some refs will call it differently depending on how much impact it has on the shot and the intent of the defender.

    Intereseting topic but... Worrying about the identity isn´t as important as setting realistic performance goals and having proof of your hard trainning.

    • @HoopsProcess
      @HoopsProcess 2 года назад

      Great comment, this video is designed for players who "shoot the lights out in training, but in games second guess themselves" and at that stage I've observed a clear identity difference between those who are shooters and those who are not (when both have the skill and proof of hard training to be shooters). The subconscious mind is a goal striving mechanism set to follow your deepest self identity regardless of if it's 'good' or 'bad' for you (Dr Maxwell Maltz). And so for these players who find themselves stuck with a non-shooter identity, this is a great way to help them escape that cycle and realign their mind to follow a more beneficial identity. Now where this ranks in importance entirely depends on the individual so I completely agree with you that for many players, identity won't be as important as setting realistic performance goals and having proof of hard training, which is an important distinction to make so I appreciate your comment.

    I’ve coached many who truly believe they are a shooter but the reality is far from it. They don’t see the one in ten 3 pointer going in as lucky, they see it as affirming that they are a shooter. 🙄

    • @HoopsProcess
      @HoopsProcess 2 года назад

      Very true, just as there are many players undervaluing themselves and their abilities, others over estimate their current skill level and it can be just as harmful to their development.
