On this channel, I'll be focusing on terminal basics & CLI tips.
Terminals don't work like the rest of your apps. Developer tools like VSCode and Figma have evolved towards ease-of-use, while terminals are stay complex with many idiosyncrasies. I believe that the CLI should not be so frustrating - if you know how to set it up right, it can actually be an insanely powerful developer tool that's fun to use.
Hopefully, this channel can bring some positivity to your experience in the terminal!

My Genuine Reaction to Trying FIG for the First Time...
Fig is a CLI tool that I've heard a lot about of hype around - apparently it has really good autocompletions and AI functionality as well. Here's my 100% genuine reaction to trying it out for the first time - is this tool worth all the hype it's getting?

How to Configure Starship to Look Exactly Like P10K (zsh + Warp + MacOS)
Просмотров 18 тыс.Год назад
In this video I'll be sharing exactly how I setup my Starship prompt so that it looks and feels exactly like powerlevel10k. I'm not sure why there's so little resources on the Internet around this, but hope this helps anybody else who's wondering how to do this :-) Find the Commands HERE: dev.to/therubberduckiee/how-to-configure-starship-to-look-exactly-like-p10k-zsh-warp-h9h My Dev Environment...
hmmm why use starship if you remove it's main functionality of showing it's prompt? Or I miss somthing?
Great video! I used the same setup until last year. Now I have switched to fzf and zoxide, so I don't have to setup alias for new projects or changing file paths. I totally recommend both tools With fzf you can fuzzy search your files & your command history, you can install zsh-fzf plugin & you will get default keybinds to trigger them - ctrl + r does file search & ctrl + t does command search, now you can search you directory by typing few letters only & jump to it zoxide is a cd replacement, its basically cd but it will remember the paths of directories you go to so next time you want to go-to the same dir, you don't have to type its path you can type little bit of its name
based, but why are you using mac? it's for soydevs
I like ❤🎉
Thanks for the great video, Jessica.
I don't see the "Honor user's custom prompt (PS1)" toggle button under Session anymore. I have v0.2024.03.12.08.02.stable_01
You know you can press shift+G to go to the end of the file in vim right?
Is it just me or the unicode characters in starship.toml file are broken?
Sorted it out by downloading and installing MesloLGS Nerd Font and then restarting Warp and setting this font as the font to use.
Hi, I am having trouble copy pasting the toml file from Github, I am losing out on the emojis. Is there a recommended way to do so? Thanks!
Looks too hard in firat 2 min you had to use a desktop. Im terminal only environment
Please, don't let the channel die. I would love to see playlists about terminal, bash scripting, etc on your way of teaching. Hope for more. Thanks for the insights.
Can't find honor user's custom prompt
Open settings and click appearance, and under the Prompt, change warp prompt to shell prompt(PS1).
I really loved this channel. Simple, nicely done, useful. Hope it grows a lot.
In my Warp terminal, icons are not visible.
as of today (I'm on v0.2023.09.19.08.04.stable_00) the "Honor User's Custom Prompt" can now be accessed via the Settings > Appearance > Prompt
Help pls, I cannot find it. I'm using version v0.2024.05.14.08.01.stable_04 on my mac
You don't need Warp to learn vim. It comes with an awesome tutor. Open vim and then press the ':' key and then type 'tutor' and then press enter. EZPZ :)
I 'm just a Brazilian noobie giving my first steps on coding, but thinks for the channel. Useful stuff. It will be helpful. Hope it grows a lot.
Hi, great video, and in my Warp > Settings > Features > Session: there's no option "Honor user's custom prompt (PS1)".... Some else? How to solve this? Thanks!
Open settings and click appearance, and under the Prompt, change warp prompt to shell prompt(PS1).
@@dongyang4784 thanks ma duuuude
You can use x to delete the character your cursor is on, instead of going into insert mode, moving over to the right and pressing backspace
what font do you use
Ooh. Ok one more thing to do on my work machine first thing tomorrow morning. Awesome videos, I am a BIG fan of warp. I'm excited to take starship for a test drive.
I'm upset for not thinking of any of these myself. Awesome ideas. I'm doing this first thing tomorrow on my work machine.
Cw means change word
Thanks for this great video ! I really needed it! I want to learn more about the configuration of starship
Your videos are amazing and up to the point Jessica! Keep it up 🚀
thank you so much 🙂
Thanks Supergirl 🎉
I can finally ditch WSL. thank you.
What is WSL?
@@theRubberDuckiee Windows subsystem for Linux, basically a way to have a Linux terminal within windows
@@JaFupy Oh gotcha! Thank you for that explanation :)
I haven't seen Community, but I do like friends! It was pretty awesome finding your video, I actually just learned about alias 2 days ago at my first tech job. Now I have more ideas for my alias, thank you!
Aw, this is so nice to hear. Yeah, I didn't know about aliases until like 3 years into my career. They are great!
such a helpful video, I've been sharing it any chance I get with P10k users.
Hi Jessica! I'm a Vim enthusiast and I recently fall in love with Warp. I think the job with this app is more than amazing. So, using the combo Vim+Warp in my daily basis tasks, with the power of Warp AI, make me feel literally like a superhero. And not to forget, what is your favorite ice cream flavor? 😍 Good job! Keep going!
Keep it up, Jessica. Good video
Thank you!!
Great video! I use the fish shell which has autocompletion that I think is really nice
The comment section is so lonely. Tell me which TV show is better: Community or Friends?
Friends!
Actually a pretty useful tool that i didn't know about. Even as an experienced vim user, tools like these integrated with the terminal would be pretty helpful occasionally to recall or find out more efficient ways to perform an action.
Yes! The only downside is that this tool is Mac-only for now. But it’s been so useful, and I feel like over time it helps me to learn as well.
Thank you, Jess. Really helpful!
Some quality content right here. Exactly what I've been looking for! The Warp team should link this in their docs.
Love seeing Warp in this video.
I bet you do
