BMW Bing CV Carb Rebuild. Common Problems & Tips in Detail
Просмотров 16 тыс.3 года назад
Here I deal with the common problems you will come across when rebuilding airhead carbs. Hopefully in enough detail to help everyone tackle most of this themselves. They can almost always be saved, but doing so is not an easy job.

Hi, Daniel. Could You share how to remowe jet needle fixator our of the slide? One of needles is not centered while fixed all the time looks to one side. Needle is allready worn out to the jet hole ant not round any more.
What year and model is your bike?
Good job. I miss change butterfly O ring
I'll be referring to this video once I receive my rebuild kit. Nice work. Love the before/after photos.
Stunning work!
Good video! Thanks.
Thanks 👍
Man, I cannot thank you enough for this video. Just getting into my bike for a full rebuild and want to do everything myself. I will watch this as I re-assemble. Subbed and thanks again.
I have a 1986 R80 that needs both carbs rebuilt. I just ordered the rebuild kits from Bob’s BMW. Are you interested in vapor blasting and rebuilding them? What is your process. Thanks
Merci pour ma r75
I found when i took my carbs apart that those large-long springs were missing......help!!
What bike are they from? Some of the earlier Beemers don’t have slide springs.
That was excellent
Oh what😔 did you do that? of all the things i needed to watch was the needle circlip and adjustment i know they are usually simple but i cant get my head around mine, and what do you do you go speed things up to a million miles an hour 😔
Settings, playback speed, reduce..
try using an extra long screwdriver the extra torch you get from the length of it is a great help .
What blasting media do you use?? Good job with this too!
Very small glass bead 75-150 microns
Hi, have you at any time adjusted the needle height? my boxer is running dead rich am wondering if the needle has been put back in at the wrong height, any thoughts, Thanks
It’s very easy to adjust the needle height. Most of the boxers have them in the third position from top (second from bottom) Have a look and see where yours are set.
very good camera work , especially when i slowed it down, i will be using your video for my carb rebuild , thank you for doing this .
Traducir al español seria bueno para chile.para enterder mas
Where are you located? Seems that you are in France…😮
No. I’m in the UK.
Daniel nice informative video, Question: if I find my R75 runs rich (plugs nice n sooty) should I change the needle position? (air screws are currently 1/4 turn out, both carbs) thanks
Thanks for the amazing detail. Should help me a lot with my airhead here in South Africa
Outstanding video, thanks for sharing
Great video!
Drones are cool but aint nothin like a set of rotors grabbing the slo mo from 30 ft away. so rad
These guys at this time took freestyle skiing to another level. This was even before Claim, which was one of the best MSP movies that brought Big Mountain skiing and Park skiing together in a way like no other.
Pure craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing
Awesome awesome work. You def have a lot of patience working with all this carbs. Do you do rebuild for customers?
Btw, thank you for sharing!
I do. Hundreds upon hundreds.
How much would a rebuild of two Carburetors cost?
My favorite part was the Mickey Mouse music lol
I found a bing 64/3213 at a thrift shop...thought I was doing good until I discovered that someone had broken off the small jet inside the shaft - a small remainder of the brass jet can be seen in the base of the shaft the small jet screws into. Any tips on how to remove this without damaging the carb for good?
Once the heads on the jets are broken or rounded, I’ve never managed to remove them. They are a very fine thread, even drilling them out carefully doesn’t work. I usually source a replacement body from one of the suppliers.
@@dannyk1d OK thank you appreciate your advice...I only paid $5 for it at a thrift shop so no real loss.
@@Britcheflee clean it up and now you have a talking piece for your home
Hi mate, im from Belgium, enjoyed yr videos, is Germany a supplier of rebuilt kits? My motor stood still for too long, 10 years...i have to revive the rs 100, thanks for great info! Bob Belgium
Hi Bob. I get all my parts and rebuild kits from the UK. most of my carbs parts come from www.motobins.co.uk they deliver to Europe.
@@dannyk1d thx brother
How are you getting these shots? Is the camera between your arms?
Hi, great videos on these carbs, I've just watched them and see that you do this as a service. Do you have a website or any sort of business page I can have a gander at? I've recently got an 87 R100RS and one of the carbs is leaking and I am looking into getting all the parts to hopefully rebuild them but now I've seen how good they look after being vapour blasted I am considering this, so now not sure whether to get them completely done by you or just the blasting. I've seen you've put your phone number in a few older comments, is this still the same and do you still perform these rebuilds? Cheers, Russell.
This is such a great song
Hey Daniel, really informative video. Do you mind telling us where you buy the parts from? Great video, thumbs up from Denmark :)
I get all my carburettor parts from Motobins in the UK. Motorworks also sell everything.
Yes, beautiful. Fun to watch.

Hi Daniel, I live in Brighton and am partly through rebuilding the Bing carbs from my R80 RT. Would you be able to vapour blast them, I have the kits etc just need cleaning.
Hi. I’m in France at the moment. I’m back for the bike shed show next weekend. You can give me a call on 07977930136 and we can discuss.
I love how everything comes apart so easily
Hey Daniel are all those small removable parts like the springs and lever arms aluminum like the main carb body?
No. They are all plated steel.
I think I will send you my carbs for rebuilding
Hi Bob. I’m in France until the end of May. Feel free to get in touch then if you still need my help.
Hi Daniel Are you London based?
Just seen your message, sorry. I’m in Brighton.
With the exception of the use of an adjustable spanner, dear me , that was really excellent. Thank you.
Tell me about it, bothers me all the time. Literally the only time I’ve ever used it was when I filmed this, typical.
Most excellent. I watched the entire video. Now, I have to research vapour blasting. LOL
Excellent video, I wasn’t bored once - that’s saying something! I was a bit intimidate to get my R65 carbs ripped apart and rebuilt but after watching this I’m very confident I can pull this off. Now to find someone to blast them here in west Texas… Why do you not recommend removing the butterfly plate? I’d like to do a complete rebuild as you did here since the damned thing is 37 years old.
Only because it is a tricky job, but necessary for a full rebuild. I have another video on here which shows the process for removing the butterflies safely. It’s worth using a scribe or similar to mark the butterfly where the shaft runs through it before removing as a guide to help get the right position when you re instal. If that makes sense.
hello how do you clean the aluminium of the carburetor? thank you !
Vapour blasting. The only way to get these results.
@@dannyk1d thank you very much
Hi Daniel, do you clean and rebuild Carbs on request?
Hi. Sorry, I replied to your comment on my other video too. Yes, I do offer this as a service. Best to contact me directly 07977930136. Thanks.
Hi Daniel! Can I send you my 2 carbs for similar cleaning? I have a 1976 R75/6 with 2 bing carbs
Hi. Sorry, I don’t often check the comments on RUclips. But yes, if you still need your carbs sorted, I can do that for you. Easiest if you contact me direct on 07977930136 to discus.
Daniel, with regard to locked screws, I always use heat [obviously on a carb that would only be a heat gun and carefully] and I always tighten first before attempting to loosen. Now that might not have worked here but I've had a lot of success over the years.
I was surprised he didn't use heat also. A small propane turbo flame works wonders in tight places where you can't get the MAP torch. I've been restoring bikes for years and the heat guns are the most important weapons in the arsenal
