Unfortunately not. Your weight should be balanced underfoot, meaning your centre of mass should be over your feet. Knee over front foot should be your goal and will get you off your back foot if that's the case.

Steve thanks for posting. First review I found of someone skiing with them. I’m thinking about getting new skis. I ski on 160 Salomon Xwings … I think they are called. I bought them at Sports Check some years ago when they were discounting skis that were sitting around for a few years. I have been on the expansion program ever since and gained about 15 pounds and somehow ended up into my 60’s lol. I think a slightly longer more stable ski is needed to assist me down the hill. I tried a pair of 163 cm 22/23’s model year for a few hours recently. They were real, real nice. If I have the mojo to ski next year I was thinking about buying the slightly used skis. Watching you rip the hill on them sure helped.

Hi Todd, you should take a serious look at the e-Rally based on your comments. The Magnum is a very lively and snappy ski and could be a little tiring for a full day or multiple days in a row on snow. The Rally has the same specs but is wider under foot and can be as responsive as you want or as relaxed as you want.

@@Steve.Dunphy Hey Steve. Thanks so much for responding. Great suggestion. They were fun for a short afternoon but at my age and shape they required a lot of effort especially at the steep hill I tried them on. I had to be focused to stay on top them. I also have to consider that at my age it gets significantly harder with each passing year than it did in my 40’s and 50’s lol. All the best.

Thank you for the reviews, Steve! I’m 190 cm talk and 95-100 kg, sporty and not necessarily very technical skier, who wants to be in control. I love carving short/mediums turns on blue slopes but immediately go into skidding on red ones as speeds is getting to high (70 kmh plus). I rented magnums several seasons (they are really good) but I do find them a bit tiring and/or heavy., especially in the afternoon when European slopes soften and/or become bumpy. I went to a local store and E-V8 feels significantly lighter in the hands but also a touch softer. Would you recommend E-V8 over Magnum for someone with my specs (weight and height) and prefers to carve att 60-70 kmh (when the terrain allows)? Would they still have sufficient stiffness for a decent control at say 80 kmh? Appreciate your feedback.

Hi @tian7158, the Magnum is a much livelier ski with a shorter radius and can be quite "snappy" where the Rally is more of a cruiser ski capable of skiing the crud and soft snow. All depends if you want a sports car or an SUV?

I have these skis with the PR13 bindings. I tested them last week on an indoor slope and I had the same initiial thought as you - at low speed these skis just want to turn. Apply the slightest pressure and they turn. At higher speeds I didn't experience any vibration at all - but that may be becasue I couldn't reach very high speeds because I was indoors. I'll be using them proper in Italy next month and can't wait. Anyway, they are phenomenal skis.

Know of an aggressive skier getting hit in the head with her ski after a bad fall which nearly killed her - she does not wear a helmet even after the crash. Dont see many people do it. Just wondered about your thoughts on this.

    • @Steve.Dunphy

Excellent question @sandraredmond4812! Yes, there is a remote chance a ski will come off in a crash and hit you...but in my experience, it is very rare! You would stand a better chance of rupturing an Achilles or breaking your ankle in a crash. I do however have a couple of people training with me that wear a helmet while skiing or tricking, more so to prevent concussion in the event of a hard fall. Hope that helps?
