lo que mas me cuesta hacer son los retoques! No se me ocurre ninguno y todo suena muy plano. Como podria mejorar eso?
Hola Sebastián! Gracias por escribir. Para mejorar el vocabulario puedes hacer varias cosas. Primero, es importante escuchar a bastantes bateristas del género. Eso te va dando idea de lo que se utiliza en esa música. Otro ejercicio chévere es tocar y hacer un fill que se te ocurra, luego de los próximos 8 compases haces el mismo fill pero tiene que ser exacto al anterior. a los próximos 8 compases varias y a los otros 8 repites el segundo y así. Eso te ayuda a desarrollar la inventiva y la consciencia de lo que estás tocando. Un abrazo.

Really nice job! (One thing you can also do to add “life” to these kind of things is create a tempo map and add a gradual increase in speed because when this stuff is played live without a click track almost inevitably you’ll find that it’s considerably faster by the end compared to the beginning.)

I followed Gonzalo Rubalcaba's groups since I saw them for the 1st time in Cuba in '85 with Horacio and Roberto, I only really like his groups when it's cuban bassists (i'm a bass player primarily) and drummers,and Jimmy was one, right. right? . So far that is, I'm sure there are other players who get i,?

Here's some inf on Jimmy: ..."when he worked with Gonzalo Rubalcaba who taught him to play with the more sensitive range of the instrument"... Jimmy's professional career began at the young age of 15 where he met Hernan Lopez-Nussa from the Afro-Cuban jazz septet "Afrocuba" who could hear that Jimmy was someone he wanted to play with. Jimmy started playing with the original band "Cuarto Espacio" that combined the styles of fusion, rock, and Cuban music. Jimmy actually didn't start playing Cuban music in Cuba until 1996 with Issac Delgado. From there, Jimmy moved to NG La Banda. Jimmy continued to evolve in his approach to playing the drums when he worked with Gonzalo Rubalcaba who taught him to play with the more sensitive range of the instrument.
