Hells Half Mile 7,000cfs (Break Down)
Breaking down my run of Hells Half Mile, at 7,000cfs. This is a really fun water level. And, there is a different line that you can take.

Hi, two years later, what's your updated opinion on the Mr Grippy? (function/durability). Thanks.
I still use them. I find them really great for my mobile life. I've waxed/edged my skies in the middle of a living room, and on the tailgate of my truck. Wax drips can cling to the rubber. I clean them by using a wax scraper to knock off the drips, and them wash them under water. The rubber is still grippy.
This is wild. Getting ready for my 3rd low water trip, haven't seen higher flows yet!
I'm thinking about to take it for a rest for via ferrata, what you think?
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. It was good. Keep it up.
Your comments are awesome, so helpful
Looks peaceful relaxing.
Ha the deer is awesome👍
I tube this every year down to Big Eddy. Much lower CFMs though.
I have a 10' Aire Tributary and a 14' Star. I would take the Trib on a wilderness trip, but I would be very hesitant to take the Star on a wilderness trip. I just don't trust the quality of the Star in more than a recreational adventure.
Are doing the Rogue this summer?
I don't have plans for it. And, none of my friends have permits
Spin to win !
We're launching on the Gates of Lodore on July 15th. Thanks for the video! My son likes to read rivers and be surprised. I like watching videos and guide books before I go....
Nice to see you back online!
Yeah, my videos tend to slow down in the winter.
That truly does look both beautiful and fun! Awesome view too brother!
This looks too too awesome! I need to go down that river and through this rapid someday! It'd be sweeeeeet going rafting with you someday too, if that's okay of course.
@travisrolando8205 anytime.
@@rogueyeti6818 Sssssaawweeeett! I love that you said that and you'd want to do that! I know we'd have a great time too! I'll make sure to choose you as my raft guide!
Yyyyyeeeeeehhhhaaaaawwwwwwww!!
Nnnnnnnnnnnooooooiiiiiccceeeeeeee bro! Sweet looking little boat too!
Guide sounded paniced! Looked like and awesome rapid
Looks both peaceful and relaxing! I still do need to go rafting someday! It'd be awesome getting to go rafting with you!
Good videos brotha !
I’m a 3rd year guide but have Been running whitewater for years taking breaks then back at it. Mainly kayaking and now a lot of Rafting! Mush love my friend . I love all your videos
I have a few guide friends that do the same where they guide in the summer and groom or ski stuff in the winter time! Awesome man!
So you have to just set up your angle 📐 and hope for the best it seems😅 Love it man good stuff!!
Damn son!! 😅 that was sick Is that a little pumpkin 🎃 in the rock?
😂 love it!
These are great for setting up a z drag that is not going to see a shock load. Also for using with Rad system of climbing a rope.
were u just high af?
I can see how you would think that, but I don't smoke or do drugs, or anything like that. This was a humbling experience for me, and in a way I'm happy it happened.
I'm going to use the roll clip in a hunting application as part of my saddle set up. Is the Pully squeaky if it's rolling under load?
I just found this video! I just ordered one of these. It will be perfect for walking down my 214 sq ft kite. I won't need more than about 2 kN. 4 kN will be more than enough. The convenience of the single piece of gear will be great. Thanks for the review!
🌸 'Promo SM'
Nice video.... Technically the route you were running is "the needle". Ned's Needle is just left of that line, and more for narrow boats. Paul's needle is the one right of the main needle, and not something I would choose to raft on purpose as it is very steep.
I love Seth Rogen
I groomed in the 80s. I remember 18 hour days. Trying to sleep and then come the tracks in your peripheral. I sure miss it.
Is this considered a type 2 helmet?
I am a bit confused about what you are referring to. I haven't seen any classification for 'type' in this or other helmets. If you are referring to the 'Class' of rapids, then I've used mine on Class IV rapids. If you're referring to more of a road setting, then this helmet is not DOT certified for road use.
How do you turn on the sirens? At Key 4 other lifty's and I were blasting down Mozart on your wonderful chords on a cold cloudy morning, as I'm making that left hand turn to go over the ''Blast Zone" I'm just zooming down the middle of the run at top koch speed! As I reach the knuckle of the roller I send it!!!... Right as I take flight and I'm soaring through the sky their just happened to be a cat climbing the the hill and coming off the run late!!! Right as I'm airborne I see it!!! While I'm mid-air and my trajectory is set he gives me a double honk....like that's going to do anything!!! As I land one ski clips the tail end corner flap of the turning spiked grooming part. It happened so FAST I instantly thought I'm GOOD!!! And the very next second my ski popped off and my boot kicked the snow and I rag-dolled well over half of that slope and had a complete yard sale! When I came to a stop I looked up hill and your guy just kept going... One of the other blue coat dudes was able to stop and help collect my gear (I broke a one ski pole and both flew off my wrist every with having that loop things around my wrist). A couple minutes later I reach the bottom lift hut and the other 3 had not seen what happened thought I could been killed up their. But I survived with a minor injury, my knee swelling up like the size of softball and I was ringing 4 days later. If you have heard of such a urban legend amongst your Vail cat ops, that rider was me during the 13-14 season. I survived the tail and the "blast zone" was not rename "The Blood Zone" in my honor....You kinda look like John and I think he was their that morning....The End
There is a switch for both the Becon Lights, and another to make the reverse alarm sound while driving around. Every cat is a little different. But they should have the same systems. Where I work, we allow uphill travel before the lifts open. So we turn the Becon Lights on around 5:30 am
I’m a private boater who has taken several first timers through. Half the time we don’t scout, because to me the scout is more hazardous. We have people video scout it, then when running it we will pair up and lead a boat down closely. My 15 year old made his first solo through in August, and I kept him right behind me. Mind you he’s seen it a dozen times before .
I used to, instead of Prussik cords, I would tie mid line alpine butterflies and clip a carabiner
Perfect for RADS system
Seth Rogan must be pretty hard up for cash
Literally 😅
Will two of these fit on the same carabiner next to each other for dual ropes? It would be a light weight alternative to the Shunt
This might be the cats ass for saddle hunting!
What a beautiful scenery bud 👏👏
Where are you bro? Lol. So what you are saying is the raft and what you are standing on are both slippery af. Lol
@rodneytanner9550 this channel is called 'The Fish Ladder' its a safer way of getting around Raine Falls on the Rogue. This trip was in low water, so there were a lot of shallow rocks. 303 is a UV protection used on rafts, keeps the material looking good, and extends the life. It can also be really slippery.
It's a 4-5 minute walk from where you eddied out to properly scout the rapid. This is a good example of pushing on the oars not working. The move you missed is a pull or ideally a downstream ferry.
Thanks for the advice. I'm definitely going back someday to get a better run.
I have a mind set that if you don’t scout a rapid, and have never ran it, you need to increase the rating. So in my head I would treat this is a solid class 4+ or 5 when you go in blind. It sucks when that happens, definitely because you have the skills to style a rapid like this. Next time you run it, I highly recommend a downstream ferry right into the top of the eddy. That sets you up perfectly to tuck behind the house rock.
The scout for this rapid is good and lets you see the entire line, your group just didn't walk down to the rapid!
Yep!
Scouting is good from the scout area. You cannot see a small part of the rapid, but you can see the key moves you have to make. Your raftmates did you a big disservice by telling you it was not worth it to scout and for not waiting for you on one of the biggest rapids on this river. I love pushing rapids when rowing, but don’t push very much on this rapid. Good video and breakdown, thank you for sharing so others can learn.
Keep ‘em coming ! Shorts full half’s quarters whatever
I'll do my best
Hit me up if your ever in Colorado man I’ll show you my main river the cache la poudre
That sounds fun. I'm in and out of Colorado a lot these days.
Really, didn't you know the line. Looks like you thought the line was on the left . Lol
Yeah. The brief I got was 'go left, go right, go left'
By the way, in your other video, to prusik or not (comments are off on that video) you keep saying your demonstrating a clove hitch, you’re not, it’s a Larks Foot or Girth Hitch
Wow. Thanks for letting me know about that. I tend to miss speak, and it's nice when it's pointed out. I will admit many of the videos for that year I was still trying to figure out what I wanted this channel to be. They're definitely not my best work. And I am currently doing what I can to change that. I hope that you or people like you can continue to what the videos I make, I enjoy the feed back and corrections.
