High Mileage Veloster Ownership Experience
In this video, I go over what it has been like owning this Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Things like reliability, mods I've done, and things that have broke. Also apologies for the wind noise, I have a dead kitten on the way :)

2012 mine have 240k
Bought my 2013 Veloster at 14k miles in 2014. Still have it at 105k miles and have replaced the clock spring and steering wheel coupler and thats about it. My paint is peeling everywhere but other then that, no other issues. Stock everything.
I have a 73,000 mile matte turbo. One thing i recommend for a breath of fresh air is to replace the head unti with one from crutchfield
Love that color, I'm gonna get the same one
soooo I dont have the the turbo model. I recently bought a super high mileage 2012 non-turbo 6MT Veloster from a friend. When I say "super high mileage" .....I mean it, the odo is currently showing 205,658......unreal right ? It runs great and the clutch is 3 years old. This is my first manual so a learning curve is there, but I have mastered not stalling at every intersection and hill. The previous owner applied engine treatment with every oil change. Interior is in fairly mint condition given the mileage. This is a learner car for me so I will likely drive it until the engine or transmission lets go.
2017 204k miles. Only big issue that caused a engine light was cat went out but after it’s still running great. Only non stock thing is air filter.
Any recommendations looking to get new brakes and suspension for my Veloster Base 2016
2013 automatic here and still going well after 213,000.
Ok here I'll make it easy for EVERYONE, I've been working on cars for 36 years, ALWAYS DO YOUR OIL CHANGES ON TIME keeping up on maintenance will make your car last as it should
2014 190k still going strong
Sorry will not take advice from someone so young, your info is from Google, how about know a little about mechanics
buying a 2012 soon, located in Aus, have heard of the rod issue however not from an australian source so confidence is a bit higher, however, will be planning to have a forged motor ready to go for when I want to up the power
My 16 Turbo never had any problems on my channel 83000 miles 2024
Hyundai is still more reliable than Ford or Chevy..So Id mark that as a win for Hyundai...
👌
I found a 2016 veloster turbo 102k miles, manual for $2800, clean title. Everything working in it. Just need a new oem bumper and one side skirt. But I’m iffy on jumping on it 😅. Any advice on these cars reliability wise?
Mine popped the evap code it fixed itself in the spring..
2013 turbo manual at 170k and still going 💪🏻 with a throttle booster,blowoff valve,cold air,no cat,sxth element lower engine mount,performance shifter bushings and 2018 elantra throttle body.👍🏻
Hi, I'm glad you brought up that fuel smell. I have a 2012 veloster, no codes, and changed the gas cap twice, but I still have gas smell by the fuel cap. I don't see leaks, I have to inspect it. But it sounds like this is a known issue for this vehicle. Have you found the source of the fuel smell or fix?
I'm at 187k miles. I purchased the car with 90k originally and i haven't too many issues other than needing coil packs when i first got it. As im typing this im having some suspension work done to my car like CV intermediate axle and sway bar end link replacement on stock suspension other than a rear torison bar and strut brace. Al far as mods i have a magnaflow catback exhaust with a piercemotorsports catless down pipe and a vibrant bottle style resonator. I also have a add w1 single oil catch can, a 60 mm tb from a elantra i think it was, Injen sri, and a turbo xs bov
I got a 2014 turbo so I’m chillin, love this car ❤
Step 1: dont buy anything pre 2016
My 2016 automatic Dct dual clutch 7 speed, never had any problems with my car on my channel
Can you record cabin interior on highway? Also, how is noise for city driving? Is it obnoxiously loud just for passing through stoplights and such? (Do you see pedestrians covering their ears, etc?)
158k on my NAV standard. Only work I've had to do so far was replacing the clutch master cylinder, and a rubber bushing for that stupid steering clunk. She drives like I remember off the lot, this transmission is somethin man
How has your car lasted 170,000 miles automatic without needing an entire transmission and clutch pack rebuild!? Those dct transmissions are made out of rubber bands
2013 turbo had torque converter, not dct
@@dorkvader1881 why the switch???, the 2016 model with the dct is an awful set up. I had a 2016 veloster turbo for 4years I replaced the transmission, clutch pack and still was making rattling noises. Hyundai makes great cars but I will never own one again.
I have a 2013 vt i was wondering if you think it would be fine with just an exhaust, intake and tune? No more boost. And if running forged internals later one would that be the end of thay problem? I heard the cpu had an issue too but could it be tuned out?
What’s this beat from I need to hear more 🤯
Sucks to hear about the 2013 VT since I just recently got one. Super low mileage 54k so I hope it'll last me a bit longer. Won't be really modding it just making it look nice and having it be a comfortable ride to work and back. Really hoping under my conditions it'll last me a super long while. 💪
Did you have to tune it to add the cold air I just got a 15 turbo with 194,000 on it I just want to keep it reliable
Step 1, sell it Step 2, buy a civic si/gli
I think these get a bad rep because people who buy these drive them like race cars at every red or every stop sign. I have a 2016 Velsoter Turbo with 64k, stage 1 tune, basic bolt ons, Borla cat back exhaust (I forgot to put one of the prongs in the rubber garment so it vibrates some times oops). Also have an oil catch but don't ever get much blow by. Ever 3k oil changes there is like .5 of a tea spoon. On top of that I weigh my oil after ever oil change and I basically loose nothing. Equals to maybe .5 of a qt which could still be in the engine. Oh and I changed the trans oil at 55k. This car has been so easy to work on and zero check engine lights (other than when I installed a new BOV, one of the hoses kept popping off so it would get low turbo warning). I am the second owner and Ive had it since 2019. going to run her till it stops!!
Have you got the dct?
I have 220k on mine
Brought my volster at a 114,000mike on it. Run smooth like butter. And had a mechanic check everything out and he said car all he the carvis well taken care of. And its not wrong. My only problems is the well know problem. The freaking touch screen doesn't respond. But hey ill get an android touch screen, cat back and a closed box cold air intake
I have a 2012 hyundai veloster, manual transmission, natural aspirated engine. just hit to 270,000 miles, it is burning oil, but the engine is still working fine. bought it brand new, just have to maintain it. eventually will do a rebuild
What oil do you use in it?
@@Diode7 , 0w20 full synthethic from costco
How do you feel about the 2016 manual Rallys? Worth it for reliability?
That fake manual shifter is beyond lame
Blinding 😎 compared to the incandescent. Not sure if that’s a good thing though 😂
Thanks dude. Much easier than the headlight if you got big hands
Are you still active on this channel?
Like any car....SERVICE IT!
broo i got the 2013 nav, lets pray
I bought my 2013 Veloster turbo in August 2021 and it only had 73k miles on it and right now I have about 84k on it and it runs really good. I do have a check engine light for the bypass valve, which I’m putting a blow off valve on soon to eliminate that. It’s not a daily driver, though I swap back-and-forth between it and the Silverado. It’s a great little car though and fun to drive.
Just got a 2016 vt manual with 96000 kilometers on it. Hopefully it doesn't die lmao
Why aren’t yours hyper flashing I replaced mine and they’re going insano mode
Own hyundai elantra 2005. No major problem. Great car. Serve me well.
I'm looking to buy a 2013 turbo with 150k on it. Is it a good idea?
what oil are you using?
Can you turn on and off the sound? I've been wanting to do something like this but I could get in trouble with the cops there are some laws against loud exhaust where I live. So I'd need to be able to turn it off at the push of a button
Yooo we are literally almost in the same boat 😂😂😂 I have a 170k+ velo. I learned by deleting the muffler I get some nice burbles on a downshift
