I used to have one of those ...dunlop sportmax tyres ....Smashed it into a renault coming the other way near cambo les bains .The guy got out and ran away. Another car came round the corner and nearly ran over me lying on the road .Smashed front . Krauser pannier halfed in two ....lucky I was .Windscreen rubber black mark on my forearm .Superman for 2 seconds....
My first bike was a '00 CBR 1000F in red, heavy as fuck (thus the German nickname "Eisenschwein/ironpig") bit still fairly fast... Now I ride '00 ZX-12R which is another dimension but I still smile when I see a 1000F

fuel consumption ???? It's a bike ! 20 dollars of premium fuel here in Australia and a whole days entertainment riding the coast. If your worried about fuel consumption buy a skateboard
Captain Kaos I've lived in Australia and indeed gas is laughably cheap compared to our Euro prices :) Nah I just meant that this bike in particular is quite thirsty. (Not a reason to not ride it, don't get me wrong... :) )
fair enough yeah mite be a bit thirsty but so is my brothers 848 Ducati while I'm trying to keep up. but then at the end of the ride both of us are thirsty and that's eeeeasily fixed.cheers !
Gotta love the old Fireblade 1000F. It was my first super bike and commanded respect. On long trips through the deserts of Colorado and Utah it would run comfortably at 120 mph with no strain for hours, headwinds or not. Once coming up a long mountain pass towards the Eisenhower tunnel on I-70 I caught up with two Harleys. As I blitzed past them they decided to keep up, which they did for a few miles, all of us doing 100 while slicing through traffic. Suddenly we hit a big dip in the road and one of the Harleys started bouncing so violently the rider was nearly ejected from the saddle. My bike barely registered the irregularity in the asphalt while they wised up and backed off.
I just ran accross a 1988 hurricane on craigs list for 1500$, andstarted looking at the reviews i,m currently running a 1990 ninja ,how would you compare the 1000f to say the 900~1100 ninja,s. In terms of overall torque high speed stability?
Great video. I just bought a mint 88 fj, 2 owners, 19k miles, all stock. I've had two Blackbirds, a Hayabusa, two GSX1400s, a CB1300 and a later CBR1000f, and I think I love this bike more than any of them. It's charm on wheels, beautiful 80a Honda build and finish. *swoon*

Deceptively quick for an old bike catches many people by surprise
