My style is often "alternative hip-hop" and I like to sample a lot of underground rock and non-traditional samples into boom bap, rap rock and pop rap type beats. I got back into beatmaking during Covid but I learned how to make beats about 20 years ago, so you may hear some 2000s vibes in my production.

The beat is nice and all but are you seriously trying to sell a beat with Jay-Z talking on it? You got the sample cleared?
Not cleared but TBD if it has to since it's from his interview at Columbia University. My understanding is that speeches delivered during a public event typically does not require clearance since such events are often open to media coverage and public discourse, and the statements made in such settings are usually considered part of the public record. But of course, I would recommend getting legal counsel prior to for-profit distribution. And of course the quote could be dropped if it raises any issues. For any beats of mine on BeatStars that have samples, I note any 3rd party loops/samples used in the monetization information so that anyone who uses/purchases can handle it as they see fit.
