To bend a note lower your chin and pull your tongue back when drawing. The degree you do it will determine the extent of the bend. Always use a tuner to check your accuracy!

I love this tuning. I just got a G Wilde tuned harp today and I love it. Bending the higher notes take quite a bit of getting used to but it opens up a lot of possibilities. It’s much different than bending the lower notes for sure. I have an 1847 in A, Ab and a Seasion Steel in G. This is my go to tuning for sure
Try closing your eyes. Might help to have a more authentic experience
Thanks Derek Nice I’ll give that a try
Thanks Derek. Very nice

what key is this .nice vid thanx
Hi, it's a low C.
@@boystoneThank you ,I,m torn between this or a Trollicus or the new Manji sky next .Pity we can,t trade in harps.Saw yr first non slider and you are in control now.thanx again Derek
Great to hear
Thank you!
Faydalı bilgiler öğrendim video için teşekkürler hangi model mızıka çaldınız?
Thank you! I played a Hohner Marine band key of C
I see the winner placed his hand on the "Prize Girl"'s arse, he didn't win her.
Thanks so much for the video, it's a big help and I love your teaching! This is the second tune I'm learning on a new (to me) C harmonica, the first being a very rough version of Piano Man.. Both super fun. Thanks again!
Thank you for watching, it means a lot!
thank you for your lesson. I have a question...when I bend notes on the harmonica, I feel it takes a lot of force on my lower stomach, is it right? thanks
When playing the harmonica you should always breathe from the diaphragm, so you will feel it low down. Seems you are on the right track but try more gently it will make bent notes sound better. Great question!
Great video ! Tks
@@CarlosMartinez-my5vb Thank you!
I'm guessing you can not mount these to a stand?
@@nickking8317 To be honest I've never tried, holding an harmonica mic just seems natural.
@boystone I run a studio hence why I asked
please do the harmonica for "The Masterplan Live at Knebworth" for an absolute beginner 🙏
@@ninillinin I will have a look at it and see what I can do.
Had a listen, great riff but definitely not for a beginner. There's scoops, bends, double stops all sorts in there. Challenging even for a good player. I think it would be disheartening for a beginner to attempt.
@@boystone that makes sense! ive since been having lessons and im wondering if you could do a tab/tutorial for it, as it is the reason i began harmonica, and i would love to go through with it with my teacher
Хорошо. И с душой.
Thanks Derick another good video as always, must be the day for Australian's to comment, cheers from South Australia.
@@waynehiggs6529 And cheers to you too Wayne!

@@normanmundy2565 Thank you very much!
@@normanmundy2565 Very kind of you to say so!
THANK YOU!! 🎉
Thanks for the info! Ordered one in regular G, which should be the lowest without windsavers
could you show any full songs maybe something from beatles? i’ve just learnt piano man love your videos!
Thank you! I'll see what I can do.
Awesome sir .
@@bloodshotgaming7 Thank you!
@@boystone can I get full tab in pdf please sir
What key is this harmonica in? Thanks
Hi, harmonica is a C
@@boystone thanks. I was following with my C but couldn't get it to sound the same as yours
I'm on it 👍

I Feel for You by Chaka Khan. I don't think anyone has covered that one on harmonica on RUclips.
@@BladeJones There is so much blues related material for harmonica, so I try to present something different. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this. Perfect explanation. I just couldn't figure it out til this lesson.
@@Semper_Forttis Thank you for watching, glad that it helped!
Thank you Derek. Great job keep up the good work you deserve more subscribers.
Thank you! You are very kind!
Very nice, I am new to playing and I played it between the piano and harmonica - very cool, thank you.
Thank you for watching, means a lot. Glad it was some help to you.
Interesting! Thanks. I took up learning diatonic harmonica just a year ago. I was wondering what the tremolo one was all about. You were right in that you don’t see many videos about it. It has a nice sound. Can notes be bent on it like draw 1-4 on a diatonic? Thanks for the video!
@@allenhawker3911 Thanks for watching, ordinarily you wouldn't want to bend notes as you play two holes at once to give the tremolo effect. However you can play single holes so bending is technically possible.
@@boystone Interesting! Thanks much!
Written by Van Morrison….🤔
Hello, after several years of use, has this harmonica held up? Has it gone out of tune more quickly than a well-known brand harmonica (hohner, suzuki, seydel etc...)?
Hi, thanks for your question. Yes it has held up well, I play it regularly and it has remained in tune. It is far less bother than my more expensive chromatics due to not having windsavers. So I tend to play it the most out of all my chroms. If you haven't already and are considering getting one, I would just go ahead. At the price it's fantastic!
@@boystone thank you for your advice 🙏 god bless you
Wishing I had a photograph of you 🎵
@@JuniperCo yep, you nailed it!
Hi Derek, In fact, no effects were used on the harmonica apart from a little plate echo, a little vibrato, and some sustained notes. But well done-a good presentation! Take care, Judd!
@@JuddLanderTV Hi Judd, well that just confirms what a good player you are, love your tone! Thanks for watching my effort to recreate some of your tremendous riffs, it means a lot to me. Take care! Derek.
@@boystone My pleasure - keep on blowing!
ARE YONBERG harmonicas more difficult too bend notes because of there stainless steel reads { now titanium reeds }. ?
Hi, because steel is harder than bronze or phosphor bronze you do need to be a bit more forceful with your breath when bending notes. Don't let this put you off though as the difference is not that great and the benefit is that stainless steel reeds last longer.
3:50 cheers
1:12 thank you . But question : do you inhale or exhale for the overblow??
You exhale (blow) for an overblow.
@@boystone I had the impression you were inhaling. Thank you !
Not the Sony Pictures Studios intro😂💀
very good
@@Henry-lf1uo Thank you!
I've got a Nonslider diminished-tuned, "half" valved, starting on A. Draw-bends are very nice, easily 1/2 step, blow bends are a nice effect to "trail off" a note, a bit hard to get 1/2 step. I love it, it's a solid build, never had to service it (2+ years). I clean the mouth piece once a month maybe. I've probably cleaned the comb once or twice. I probably should clean the valves more often. My only issue with it seems to be that it's harder to avoid spilling air into adjacent holes with all the additional movement required.
I agree, you have to make quite a big movement to cleanly play the top row from the bottom and vice versa. Once you've got that it's much less likely to spill air.
Hello Derek,i really like your short beginner videos always learn something from them. Cheers from Australia
Thank you Wayne, much appreciated!

Holes 6,7,8 are the same as holes 2,3,4. Hole 9 is another duplicate of hole 2 and hole 10 is the same notes flipped around. I’m trying to decide between this tuning and powerbender tuning
To be honest, I don't play my Will Wilde tuned harp that much preferring my richter and minor tuned harps.
Love this 💜🎵🙏🏽 thanks x
Thank you!
The only issue is your microphone setup…
@@ikust007 I used the microphone on the camera, what exactly is the issue?
@@boystone listen to it . Sound ain’t top. Worth buying a mic that plugs in the phone . With all respect .
