    I have a Saint Pyrenees and he’s bigger than both of these dogs. He does the same thing in my backyard. They are the biggest baddest MTF in the land! Those sheep divided like the Moses was coming through the Red Sea. Pretty stupid thinking you could ride through a heard of sheep and not encounter a livestock guardian dog at work.

    I’ve seen other videos where they have a few dollars of interest accumulated so they would convert 7k and have like $3 left in the traditional IRA. Is that okay or do I absolutely need to have a zero balance. This will be my first time ever contributing to a Roth IRA so I’m trying to make sure I get it right

    • @frugal.professor
      @frugal.professor 20 дней назад

      If you delay the Trad=>Roth conversion, you'll have the accumulated interest issue you mention. In that case, it'd be best to convert the full Trad IRA balance (e.g. $7,003 in your example). Following this example, you'd pay taxes on the $3 of gains but not the $7k. Hence, it's better to convert ASAP. I literally do it 30 seconds after the Trad contribution.

This kind of behavior is exactly why I am getting two of this amazing dogs for the animals on my 20 acres. Yall are lucky this wasn't two Kangals, or this would have been a very bad day.

    I'm mountain biking a lot and this video is an example of what NOT to do. When I encounter guard dogs I usually crouch down and talk to them in baby voice to show them I'm not a threat. 98% of the times it's working. When it's not, I just get the hell out of there. Guy standing here and looking at the dog is just gonna make the dog more aggressive. If you fear them, they sense it and bark at you. If you respect them, they respect you.

    The amazing thing about Great Pyrenees is that they will stand between you and whatever they're guarding for HOURS barking at you. They're defenders, not attackers (although they will attack if necessary, moreso animal predators than humans) and they know their job is to keep the intruder away from their livestock. Generally as long as you don't keep advancing, or back away, they'll leave you alone. And I say this from experience, having a Pyr of my own. I do understand that most people think that even slowly backing away from a big dog can make them want to attack you, but in areas where large herds are guarded by dogs, there's almost always a sign explaining what to do if you encounter them.

      No, your employer has to allow it. But don't ask HR or your 401k recordkeeper if they offer the "mega backdoor roth" since they won't know what you're talking about. Instead, ask for the following features: * Non-Roth, after-tax contributions, and * In-plan Roth conversions (or rollovers) If you have the above two, you're in business. Tens of thousands of dollars of extra roth space per year. Regretfully, my employer doesn't offer this option.... I've been lobbying to change this for years without success.

      Another thought on optimizing this, beyond the 2.5k limit / quarter. Do you know if it's possible to apply for multiple business versions of this card ("Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards")?. All the same perks but MUCH higher threshold on special categories ie. $50k/year.

    • @frugal.professor

      Why don't I do the BoA Travel/Unlimited? For the 3.5% for dining/travel, Global Entry credit every 4 years, and no foreign transaction fees. Plus, I use the $100 travel credit every year without incident through United travel bank. Not a hassle at all. That said, I think the BoA Unlimited card is a decent option if you don't care about Global Entry, 3.5% dining/travel, FTF, etc. Then you. don't have to worry about the $95 fee each year.

    The correct thing is to go slowly, do not make eye contact, do not make threatening motions. Proceed slowly on your path allowing the animals to clear out of your way. Do not engage the dogs. They will allow you to pass while they alert on you as a threat to the pack, as long as you do not attempt to interact with the pack or the dogs.
