Bought a pair of BD 127s about a month ago. Out of the box they climbed great, but the glide was miserable. I was really disappointed but didn't want to return the skis. So, although the instructions indicate these skis are not to be hot waxed, I did it anyway. I put on a hard cold wax and kept the temp of my iron as low as possible to still get a good melt, scraped, brushed and polished. The process created an entirely different ski. They glide wonderfully. My boots are WOLVERINE Men's CarbonMax with 400 grams of Thinsulate. They are a hiking/work boot that has a sole that stays flexible even when the temps here in MN drop to -20F. A flexible sole is critical for these skis, given the design of the bindings--and -20F is the lowest temp BD recommends for these skis. For backcountry brush whacking these skis are so much better than typical Cross/X skis or snow shoes. The only limitation is down-hill runs. These skis are excellent for flat terrain and rolling hills, but not steep grades.
Mudcat01, that’s a great idea! I’ve never waxed mine, but I could see that you would get a much better glide. I’m using KEEN Revel High V Polar winter boots. Waterproof with 400grams of insulation, they claim to be good down to -40. Here’s a link. www.keenfootwear.com/p/M-REVEL-IV-HIGH-POLAR.html?dwvar_M-REVEL-IV-HIGH-POLAR_color=1023619&cgid=activity_winter_mens Thanks for the information, and safe travels! We’ll see you out there!
Dennis, yes if you need to travel some distance, or are looking for a great workout. Not as agile as snowshoes, or as good for steep inclines, but will get you where you need to go quickly. There is a learning curve, but easy to master.
@@D-Ski-Bike-Kayak-Etc-cv5tm awesome! A great pair of boots will also make your adventure more fun. I recommend the following. www.keenfootwear.com/p/M-REVEL-IV-HIGH-POLAR.html?dwvar_M-REVEL-IV-HIGH-POLAR_color=1023619&cgid=activity_winter_mens I have had these for two seasons now, and they are perfect for winter and snow conditions.
Tyler the GlideLite comes in two sizes. 147cm and 127cm. I would recommend the 147cm skis. They have metal edges for better control and turning. Both skis have bindings that use a regular hiking boots/ winter boots instead of a ski boot.
I appreciate you taking the time to provide us with extra details about the skiing and giving us some nice close-ups. What a hot guy, too! I like your coordinating outfit.
Nice tent but very difficult to find the vestibule. I think it was easier if the vestibule was part of the tent.
Lucian, you can purchase direct from Big Agnes. Very difficult to find in retail. Thanks for watching.

Nice tent!
Look at those beautiful trees. God I hate cities.
Helpful and informative video. This helped me solidify my decision to purchase these for big mountain approaches and exits. Thank you.
I need to get some of those! I’m 6’ 170 lbs... what size would you recommend?
