loading some 38 special snake shot use this information at your own peril and make sure to always check your load data do not take my word for it I am not responsible for your safety
All the reloading info is on the Wilson combat page as well as hogdon reloading manuals
yes you are correct and i use hodgen reference but there is not much from bullet mfg i like to cross check references
great video, did you gas check? and what did you size your bullets to? I have been trying to work up loads for the accurate 31-142b bullet using cfe black powder. So far have been getting random flyers on each load, basically doing 5 shot groups of each charge and getting only 2-3 of each to group and the others shooting way off. I gas checked and sized some to .310 and some to .311. Can't figure out the issue yet and as you know not much info out there. Anyway found your videos and would love to hear what your results have been, maybe we can help each other out in testing and figuring out some good cast loads for the Hamr.
no gas check sized to .309 lead bhn 22 very hard .fair groups but i unfortunately haven't had much time lately to dial them in when i do i will post videos' on the way thanks for the nice comment and great info look forward to more
Respect to the author 👏
thank you
I reamed for a couple thousand rounds then went to the Lee swage. It is quick and reliable. For the forty bucks I paid for it; I'm thinking I should have got it the first time.
i agree i should have got one earlier also
Deciding between this and rcbs die
i really liked running this swage but i hae never used the rcbs die
I'm thinking about getting this, seems like a necessity for military brass. Thank you for the video!
thank you works great on any crimped brass surplus or new manufacture
I love this caliber, and brass forming is a pleasure. My method: Using a 300 HAM'R jig mounted in a HF chop saw, I cut off most of the neck (for very minimal trimming later). This step reduces split necks when forming/resizing. Lubricate, deprime, and form brass. Give it a ⅓ turn and form again. Swage. Remove lub, trim to 1.595" with 300 Blackout Little Crow trimmer, champher/debur, clean flash hole, primer pocket clean, and uniform. Check with guages. Done.
8 or 12s ?
no.8s
Good stuff .
Thanks for the visit
I wish I could find someone to reload my 300 hamr brass with the 130-grain hot-cor (I don't have the patience, precision, or the time to reload)
i haven't loaded any of them but i have heard great thing about that bullet design and weight
Great vid!
Thank you
OMG please load one up and shoot me😳. Gotta love it, thanks for the entertainment! Good stuff
i know that i ramble on and try to show the whole process would more editing and shorter be better
No such thing as price gouging.
i respectfully disagree sir just in primer pricing alone it is happening
Built a Ham’r 18” , Love it, I have also developed a 160gr load 2207fps.
how does the 160s shoot
@@piketownpatriot1852 shots great 1/2” at 100yrds Here’s what I do Wilson brass or Starline (holds more powder) Magnum or #41 primers 25.5gr CFEBLK Hornady bullet #30396 use a razor blade to just trim the tip off, level with the jacket Seat to C.O.L. 2.225” After I add the powder I tap the case a bit to ensure the powder has settled as low as it will. Best to you, and happy hunting,
Thanks for the info I will have to try it
Vertical video? NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry
I just built one. I ordered the barrel from Wilson Combat. And they accidentally mailed me a 5.56 barrel. Had to call them and have them mail me the right one. All they had in stock with the 16" barrel though. I went ahead and took it and put it together. I also chose the 130gr Speer Hot Core 2510FPS. I paired the gun with a Athlon 6.24x50 scope. I really love they way it turned out and I do like the 223 / 5.56 but I have a few of them and wanted to try this 300 Ham'r. I am very glad I did.
Yeah what yeah when I ordered my barrel they didn't have the rifling twist that I wanted but so far I'm pretty pleased with how it's shooting the 150 green weight bullets that I wanted to use I am not a big fan of the 556 That's why I was pleased when I started learning about this caliber
I've been wanting one of these barrels but just haven't made the purchase. Do you really like the round? I want it to do some hog hunting and I think it will work great
I really like the round I'm not a big fan of 223 so this is my 1st AR build and I chose this round Because of the ability to throw a 30 caliber projectile through an AR platform With a standard bolt and bolt face it was originally designed 4 hog hunting so I'm sure it would work exceptional in that area The accuracy so far has been exceptional and I have not really had an opportunity toTaylor the loads to my rifle and it already shoots exceptionalMy 8 year old can shoot minute of angle groups with itSo I believe it has the potential to be a one whole group with a little bit of work
*Thank you for the 'brass re-formation video'. Those are much easier than 25-06 or 270 Win to 7x57 Mauser. Proper annealing can help. A BARN DWELLER shortcut that "sometimes works" while skipping or avoiding annealing is : "WARM UP THE BRASS" in front of the 'milk house heater'... "as hot as human hands can tolerate to handle" and lube it with Imperial Sizing Wax. The 'somewhat warmer brass' forms more easily. The Imperial Sizing Wax is somewhat slicker and stays in place really well , even when 'very warm'. IF we over-wax, use excessive amount of lube, or coat with lube 'too thickly' ... AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW, we will very likely get wrinkles or 'hydraulic dents' in the shoulders and case walls. COLD BRASS &/or 'not properly annealed brass'... is more likely to wrinkle, crush, or split.*
Thanks for the information I might try that once I get my woodstove fired up in my reloading space Thanks for the positive comment
I've always said never profit off someone's misery. I got that from the guy that was mentoring me. Weez in a different America now. The old America is all about teamwork
amen
Speed?
Right around 1800 fps According to the load data I have not chronographed any of the loads yet but once I do but once I do I will comment and let you know exactly what they came in at
instead of fabricating a case length gauge/arbor from a 308, why not just use the one for the 30 herrett and shorten the pin 2 hundredth with a file
That is a great idea but I had two 308 arbors on hand so I used what I already had
Getting better every time. Good video
Thank you I think I need to zoom in a little more
Wilson Combat has new info on their page. They've found 1:13 is optimal for 130-150gr. Fixing to build one myself. Look forward to seeing how it turns out
Yes I also read that I wanted the 1in13 twist but when I got mine all that was available was 1in 15
Lee, Hodgdon, Accurate, and Wilson Combat have load data for 300 ham'r. I purchased a barrel yesterday but I'm still waiting on a few parts and some reloading dies before I get started with ham'r. As far as your video goes, maybe back the camera up so it's not right in your face. That's distracting for most people. A lot of people want to see what you're doing more than they want to see your face. But overall, I think you did a good job
Thank you for the insight on my video I do believe I'm going to change the camera around I plan on making a video loading some Hammer rounds and firing them with cast powder coated bullets what twist did you get on your barrel the only thing one they had available when I got mine cuz I believe the one in 13 twist and now all they have available I believe it's a one in 15 twist which is a little better for the heavier 150 grain bullets
Great vid!!
Thank you
