    Been a P.Eng. for over 25 years and I am surprised at how much I enjoy your derivations. I was never much for that part of engineering but it really is fascinating when one understands how the equations are developed. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge.

    For my comment below, I guess my question is, "why isn't t, 75mm"? If it was 75mm, then max. shear in the b/2 part of the flange directly over the centre of the web would be 5.5 and my brain can understand that LOL.

  • @jerrysmith9780
    @jerrysmith9780 7 месяцев назад

    First off, Thank You for taking the time to do these videos, I've learned a ton about shear flow and shear stress from you. I am however, a bit confused on one aspect. If the shear stress at the top of the web is 11Mpa which i agree with, why isn't the max. shear in the flange at b/2 equal to 5.5. When the 5.5 + 5.5 combine, we get 11Mpa. You used the flange t which I've never seen that before.

    A bit confused around the 5:25 - 6:10 mark. The sketched areas look like 1/4 of a hole, not 1/2 of the diameter hole. Am I not understanding the diameter hole correctly?

    is the summation of the diameter equation [d*t - (Sp^2 * t)/(4 * Sg * t)] or [ (d*t - Sp^2 * t)/(4 * Sg * t)]. You wrote it out the second way to begin with and then switched to the second way for the rest of the video

    Wow, just notice this instruction vedio, it is of great quality. I am a junior structural engineer migrant live in Australia, I havent found many useful instructive vedio toward conceptual calculation on RUclips until I watched this one, which is very clear to illustrate some confusions such as restraint types. It helps a lot thanks mate, hope you can keep updating. 😃
