Healing Field Farm
США
Добавлен 5 фев 2021
We decided to find a better way of life by getting away from the everyday grind. We bought our land in northern Maine and built a Tiny house. We are currently in the process of building our Farm/Homestead from the ground up. We followed our dreams and are now working to build a successful farm with a holistic and permaculture approach.
We started this channel to share our journey of successes and struggles. To help others that are looking for a better way of living and maybe don't know where to start and to hopefully help people on their own journey.

Thanks so much!
Thanks!
Bro only like 1% of the world uses feet. Everyone else uses meters 🤦🏽♂️
The puppy is so cute
When you say they live for 20 years, will the tree die after that or will it just stop producing fruit?
Did u fjd 😊😅
Does harsh pruning and keeping it 5 feet keep roots small?
I got one full size Rio red grapefruit tree and it says it will grow to 15-20ft. It labeled as standard tree. Is it a full size tree or semi drawer?
Wonderful! Beautiful! Talk about a score in finding this video first try. I'm writing sci-fi, and had trouble figuring out how to fit fruit trees into various space craft. My biggest issue was space, but I've worked out a lot of the kinks; and these were the biggest necessary trees I needed to figure out. I wanna point out one thing though... You made no mention of root depth/width. It's not just my sci-fi; some people live on rocky terrain. How deep does the soil have to be. My current googling tells me a minimum of about 3' for a dwarf, and up to 10' for a full. Given how long it takes to make soil in a space craft, depth is a serious issue. Otherwise, this video answered most questions I had. Thank you.
I came to youtube to find a recycled easy feeder to withstand rain. Here we are. Thank u!
I ordered some aluminium foil trays because I had an idea it wouldn't come out easily lol! For once I think I did the right thing, I am going to try making these for my wild birds and pigeons.
Does growing a dwaft tree in a pot restrict it in any way?
It will restrict root growth.
Hello I really liked your video. I was eagerly waiting to learn about the sizes of the trees. Example you said a dwarf tree but how big that would grow in 7 to 8 years?!
They could be anywhere between 8-15 ft tall. And about 8-10 feet wide. Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very helpful, thanks!
👍
👍👊
What a gorgeous GP!! How are you & the critters handling all the snow up there? Are your hens still laying? Good to hear from you!
Thank you. A lot of the snow melted yesterday. But more coming Friday I guess. But they have acclimated pretty well. About half of our hens are laying.
@@HealingFieldFarm wonderful news! 👍
Beautiful dog! We have been talking about getting a dog on our little farm and after seeing this I really want one now.
Thank you. They are great dogs. Hope you find the one your looking for.
Beautiful markings.I have 5 Pyr mixes.Hope she does well
Thank you
Awww how cute...
Thank you
That is really cool! We might have to try that next time we process pigs.
I've got a 7x14 for the chickens like that but with cattle panels for the hoop I'm on my second season with. No ridge board just the end frames. If the plastic pipe doesn't work switch it for cattle panels. I'm in Wilton Maine so I doubt your snow load is much worse then mine.
This was very educational, Ric. It's almost like suet for chickens. Thanks for the lesson! I was wondering if you had a new dog when I saw the shepherd. Was he a rescue? ❤
Thanks for watching. The Sheppard belonged to Sarahs brother and due to some life changes he couldn’t keep him so we took him in rather then have him end up at the pound. So far he has been an outstanding addition to our family and fit right in with the other dogs. We are also adding another dog soon. Stay tuned. We will be introducing her next week.
just started my channel and got a couple videos shot just wondering if there is a place I can share my video/channel so more people can find my videos /channel ?
There are lots of groups on Facebook to share in and pages for youtube creators starting out. Also instagram is a good place to share.
Congratulations!!! I'm so happy for the both of you!!!
Thank you for showing this. I love learning bits and pieces of how to care for all animals. Happy chickchicks, happy yield
Thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Grow by making each new video better. Make the video as short as possible to still make your point. Focus on quality over quantity. Your video pacing and length is not good if retention is under 50%.
Please speak louder or wear a microphone attached to your phone with a long cable in your next video and have the person doing the video follow more of what your hands are doing when you fill the moulds and so on. I’m looking forward to more of your videos in the future. 👍😁
Looks great, Ric! Hope your family & your animals are ready for the blizzard. You might be shut in for a couple days! Prayers for safety & warmth.
Thank you. Yes we are ready. Been outside a lot today moving hay into the barn and moving anything we didn’t want buried.
the biggest thing is quality videos, and the connection with the viewers. and once a video is up it will generate views, watch hours the rest of the time it on youtube so the more videos the more views over a period of time, kinda like the snowball effect.
Just subscribed! Best wishes that you get there soon! Thanks for the video, great info!
Thank you and thank you for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love how you have reminded us that the videos are for memories for the future generations! It is like a time capsule. That is why I started doing it. To look back on. Is it better to limit to adults on your videos? I put mine always for kids.
RUclips has some restriction on kid videos, and we really are focusing on adult videos, so we just stick with made for adults. Thanks for watching.
Hey! Cool video! Just subscribed 😁
Thank you. And thanks for watching.
Hello SoilBrotha! This is great advice... We are pretty new to YT and trying to figure this out and make sure we are doing everything right to continue to move forward. This was great, Many blessings to you, thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Thank you. Good luck with your channel and thanks for watching.

Found you on FB,Shed to House.I plan on moving to a tiny house.Problem is i'm a bit of a prepper lol.Its a little overwhelming to decide what to take
Focus on necessities. Thanks for watching.
Came over from Small RUclips Homesteaders and subbed! Excited to engage with other RUclipsrs! 💙
I saw the share on Facebook! I subbed
@@FerkoFamilyFarm Thank you!!! I went back and resubbed to you. It looks like RUclips deleted my previous sub. I've noticed that a few times tonight! Don't know what that is about!!!! Anyway, love seeing new channels! 💙
Thank you
Shared! 💚
Sounds like awesome plans, Ric! I've learned how vulnerable those plans can be, if when you acquire meat animals you don't set up a butcher & processing date when you actually GET the animals. If you can't process, you can't sell. Just a heads up and best wishes! Looking forward to more videos! 👍🙌
We already have butchering all worked out.
Thankyou for sharing your updates . I look forward to your videos as I’m isolating right now so it’s nice to see what others are doing . Gives me something to look forward to . Your goats are so sweet .
Could I work at your place?
Could I be your assistance for hay feeding?
I absolutely agree! Start where you are, start with what you have, just start.
YES to all these lessons. It's amazing the things that homesteading will teach you. That chicken sure had a lot to say during the whole video! ;)
thank you...I needed to hear this!
So wonderful that you have achieved what you have so far! Thanks for sharing this!
Your chicken is a talker 😂 Mine do that when they want treats, haha.
Amen! Your comments can be an inspiration to those who haven't made the wise decision to do this or struggling with completing the task.
This is huge news! I’m literally closing on property with a huge finished barn this Thursday and had plans to use the property to start a meat processing shop. I’ve grown another successful small business in another state, but we’re moving back to Maine this week. I will definitely throw my hat in the ring. Thank you for sharing this!!
…BTW- I brother in Portland Maine and my Dad lived up in East Machias for many years. My Mom was born in Nova Scotia… I love it up that way. Absolutely gorgeous!
