Why Serato needs ANOTHER update!!!
Просмотров 273Год назад
Let's talk about an update I think Serato definitely NEEDS!
Serato DJ Pro VS. Rekordbox USB - THE DEBATE IS FINALLY SETTLED!
Просмотров 42 тыс.Год назад
Settling the ongoing debate! Which is better? Find out
Stems don’t sound good and have bugs so I don’t think they’re suitable for something bigger than you room
Yes ... but if you export to Engine OS, all trackks get re-analysed by Engine OS. This means that you lose all beatgrids you prepared in Lexicon. Unusable. I have heard the same issue from Serato users as well. I have opened several bug reports - but no reaction so far.
Let me save y’all 10 minutes… Serato > Rekordbox
I have one idea for you, i know lts little bit complicated but it works, nowadays exists for mobiles everything usb and etc. So you can load all your library in your hands and than when your on ur usb u don t have all the songs very simple and it needs 2 minuts job by typing the name of the song and it is done move to usb and u can plug it in decks. Cheers, i am not a professional dj i just play in basement with friends for fun and chill, and i use a flx6 gt, and don t go outside clubing to play, so don t know, it is just an idea, i have a honor 90 with 500 gb memory and have on it almost 300 something gb music tracks and use it as a backup for my music. 😎🎧🎶😉
Wt happened with out these two software s just load the tracks from usb I don’t want cue points I mix manually is the usb will be read the track or load the track
Ben great content, Some tips as a dj been in the game for 28 years preps is key. I have dj'd in all conditions rain, heat wind you name it. If im ask to dj at an even and its outside i take a mini fan with me to keep the laptop cool that simple
Rekord BOX
I’m looking for ways to organize my library better and back things up / have multiple ways to play. This is really helpful and informative. I’ll def be looking into it. Thank you!
Witch one is better for turntable mixing?
This helped me a lot. Thank you
This was sooooo helpful!
Great Vid Ben 👏🏻
Thanks for the review. FYI I'm building a cloud based platform that does a lot of what lexicon does + more. It will be at a much lower cost - free for as long as possible and then possibly a small fee to cover costs depending how popular it gets. It's currently in beta testing. If you're interested in joining the discussion group and gaining early access to the platform let me know!
best comparison I've seen, thank you
When you want to tag things, highlight what you want and just press "t" it'll open up the tag menu.
subscribing to a library management software. Goddamn this has to be the dumbest thing i've seen DJs doing. Shooting yourself in the foot with a subscription model? Just get an open source piece of software. There are literally tonnes of them. FFS. Paying a company to do something like basic housekeeping ...not learning it yourself. fuckin hell. throw your money away for as long as you are a DJ. stop being stupid. I use musicbrainz.. powerful as hell. some friends still use media monkey..but the thing is, these companies have free open source code. So i dont have to worry that some asinine company might go out of business due to having an exploitative business model or just bad management...or because they are competing with free software that does a hell of a lot more than they can trick morons into subscribing for
Serato beats Rekorbox in terms of speed, latency and an overall DJ program. Rekordbox SOUNDS better! WARMER. Im an open format DJ. When im doing hip hop, afrobeats, Rnb, old Skool, oldies and or commercial hits, I use Serato. When its just house music - Its Rekordbox. Sounds more crisp. Bass is well rounded not scattered as it is with Serato. Serato also has way better AI with stems than RB. Anybody else find Serato's sound a little metallic with the highs and a little noisy/less warm? Even with 320 MP3's, WAV and AIF files?
Cool, I am buying an upgraded controller, and this is making me jump to serato from rekordbox! Cheers!
Best video on RUclips that explains these two digital software. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
For me serato! But i use both SERATO: weddings, clubs, bars Rekordbox: open decks, main stage Also dope last name 👌
great and thorough video
Too many pros cons overheating shit breaking down and so on.Do it old school.Have a emergency plan.Take ur vynils and ur 1200s.And some good needles.wala.DONE
I find that "MP3Tag" is waaaaay more useful as you can program your own specific rules for renaming and so on, I've processed my entire library and I use my own 'weird' methods to reuse fields and so on and it handes it all perfectly. I've got mines all categorised by crowd type, venue type, AMBI/WARMUP/PEAK/BG and so on.. its super useful for smartcrates... i use Picard to get the data then i rename everything as "# Artist - Title" which then prevents me from having duplicates as once auto-named the tracks will error to let me know it exists. The # lets me reprocess them to remove it and find additional duplicates, then i reapply it again. Basically the "#" denotes a track ive already processed in my library, so i can quickly seperate them. Sounds complex i know, but it absolutely works better than anything else ive tried over the years.
Are you aware what happens to playlists created by lexicon if you discontinue the subscription? Do the playlists no longer map and are they usable?
Still using Traktor here!
I don’t Dj much anymore however I started with Virtual Dj just using a laptop. I have Serato of course but it seems V Dj runs smooth, cpu friendly and more options imho.
I believe the total plays on the songs are determined through the id3 tags meaning if the “plays” are 7000 is likely an error on the id3 tag vs the app
RUclips Premium, aux, prob solved for minimal requests. Understand you can't use features on the board, but for the single requests, you don't nec. have to. (call me a noob if you want, but it works anytime I play) I've also never had issues with quality.
i'm sure someone has already corrected you on the instant doubles thing. But if not: You dont need Serato or any computer of that matterfor instant doubles. That is a feature built in to CDJs. The procedure varies a little between the CDJ models, but the more recent ones just need you to press and hold sync for the duplicate track to start playing on the target CDJ. Just make sure both CDJs pare connected to the Pro DJ LINK network
Serato has always been goated
Great video! I appreciate the honest review and it definitely helped to confirm that it's a good investment. Also, glad to see a Chicago based DJ/producer doing his thing! Hope I can see you perform sometime!
This a great video. So clear and concsie and I finally understand the differences. My take away, learn both cause you'll run into both eventually.
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, staying proficient on both is really the best option
Damn, closing for Cedric Gervais? Nice man... I opened for him a few times in Miami at Space (at the patio). Great DJ when he doesn't go crazy with commercial stuff. Extremely Dynamic, good taste and doesn't get out of context. Those were the days......Great memories. Keep at it! If u record the set, let me know if I can listen to it somewhere.
I heard great things about cdjs as I'm 1 who only used controllers.... but after watching this, imma stick with controllers.
Problem is most clubs use CDJ setups, at least in Chicago, Houston, Scottsdale, Vegas, etc.
Dude you broke it down clearly...thanks for posting this video...
Glad you enjoyed it👍🏻👍🏻
You give the suggestion that you can not plug in your laptop to the cdj 2000 but that is not true. So you dont have to use a stick. But so e extra stick is good for a backup. These days recordbox als have STEMs and you can lifestream music. (Pioneer is since a few months also the owner of Serato😊)
Actually didn't say you couldn't plug in to the CDJ2000, I actually reference it with HID mode. Also this is covering Serato DJ vs Rekordbox USB, not Rekordbox software! But yes I'm aware Rekordbox now owns Serato. It'll be interesting to see what comes of this.
Great comparison video. Thank you! 🤘🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great idea!
Nah bro the debate is never settled because DJing is about personal preference to some extent, right?
Agreed!
I agree. Would be a awesome feature
Would definitely disagree I’ve used rekordbox for more than 3 years with a similar setup if you have a laptop you don’t need a usb and the things you mentioned are really unlikely to happen unless you have pioneer faulty equipment which rarely happens i can search music on rekordbox with ease and also have plugins that let me download music from the spot from any streaming service like youtube and Spotify also in addition, if you have a deck malfunction you can copy and paste play that deck really quick there will be a delay i would give you that. Look my point is that rekordbox is not as bad as you make it that is it, this my friend is honesty.
If you take a look at the title, this is a comparison of the two most common used methods in the clubs out here, Rekordbox USB (Not software) and Serato DJ
If you are a professional DJ... Rekordbox(for preparation) + CDJ'S + USB, this is industry standards. Everything else is custom setup, you definitely face a lot of difficulties.
Do you know if virtual dj or Serato is compatible for the new beginner pioneer flex 4 or what would be the best program to use for all genres.
I can't speak to that
Do you make any mixtapes with Ableton Live?
Honestly not sure guys praise rekordbox and USBs. I played on USBs (someone else’s usb) for the first time yesterday and it was lame and had me worrying more about the next song, searching, etc rather than reading a crowd and the actual stuff that matters. In my opinion, going from serato to USBs is a downgrade.
Agreed! But I also did open format on USBs for quite a while before Serato, and still drop a set on them here and there. Searching is definitely my biggest issue with it.
great video. subbed.
Much appreciated! I need to get on putting out more.
With the Pioneer Pro DJ purchase of Serato DJ Pro, the argument is now settled.
Good perspective in this vid.
Glad you liked it!
Very helpful!
🙏
Traktor Pro 3. And with izotope on board, even their Stem Seperator will be superior.
When it eventually happens.
