Battlemode from Exploreminate says it's a really tight game - the mechanics all work together and nothing is fluff. I suppose that is true. But I think I am like you. I've tried it and it just seems very repetitive and doesn't make me want to come back and pick it up again a day later. Nice enough game that I could play if I had to, but there are enough other options out there to choose from with my precious time.
This is not an RTS
Why not? From Steam description: "a fast paced and action-oriented real time strategy game".

It's my habit to cover a larger area, but zoom is in the game. I show closer in some missions while there is not much active combat.
