My dad & his buddy Ed Bernier campaigned a very successful BB/GD here in the northeast for years, beat Shirley a number of times before she went to nitro. I can still remember push starting it at New England Dragway. If I had one wish it would be to drive one of them again w/my dad & Eddie crewing. My dad's still alive at 84yrs old, but sadly Eddie died of cancer years ago. Miss those days. Drag racing was SO much better back then, even in the early days of the WWCS meets.

Really "off-roading" It looked like a simple dirt road....NO JUMPS OR ANYTHING LIKE A REAL OFF ROADING....

This was a mid-season addition to the schedule, but they still had a great car count. I just can't get enough of this era of drag racing! Thanks!

Well done mate, I personally get annoyed at the whole modern bastardization of the original class by people who sometimes don't even know why they're called Gassers. As for the raising of the front, it was a crude, but somewhat effective way of using weight transfer. The idea was to get weight onto the rear wheels. My dad was a hot rodder and chassis builder from as far back as 1956 , he taught me about the Gassers when I asked him about one in an old rodding magazine when I was a little kid in the 70's. Funny how I could remember all the hot rod, drag racing stuff but not so much with the scholastic stuff. I'm really stoked to see a young bloke like you educating these Sheep. Also, before the Funny Cars and Altereds were some Effing wild creations called " Fuel Coupes ", those guys needed big kahunas to drive them things. For obvious reasons the class didn't stay around for too long, but I wonder if you could show some of those to your viewers, any old hot rod fans would get a kick out of seeing them. Cool set of rigs going down

This was already 2 years ago and has yet to be topped. Though it didn't help it's rained out 2 years in a row but still. It wasn't no harley stunt show and truck burnouts.and midnight harley donuts. What I'm trying to say is until i see it happen it's not getting topped.

That accident gave me chills. Always a hard thing to watch.

I raced there in the trophy class at a IVWA "Bug Bash" in either 1989 or 1990 and won a trophy . I can't remember the exact year because my trophies are packed up and still at my ex wife's house but it sure is a shame Shuffletown got closed down .

i cut my racing teeth at Thompson--i was taught by Carl "Pappy" Peck ( RIP)and Al Goodman in 1990 with a rear engine dragster. Good luck to the Kuhnles for resurrecting a piece of history.

Great subject matter for a video but your video taking skills need a lot of work. It's hard to watch cause your jerking the camera around so much.
