    Thanks for showing this - pretty interesting. I don't understand why Cadillac would not just adopt the GM style that screws into place. Seems to me that if that ring loses tension, the cable would pop right off. Of course, it's been sitting there since 1967, so I guess it works fine.

    How did you mount the rear seat belts and where did you get them? My 65 impala does not have them.

      I bought them from seatbelts plus, they came with the mounting hardware. Just drilled holes, and they came with thick big washers.

    When I did my Caprice, I had to remove the window completely in order to get to the screws. Most of the videos I watched said that you could move the bottom stop out of the way, but mine is welded to the door. Did your windows lower enough on their own to get to the screw holes?

      I did have the door glasses removed at one point. The rear glass on the passenger side had to be partially removed, but for whatever reason the driver's side glass wasn't in the way.

      @@ImpalaCadillacRestoModDIY Interesting. I had no trouble with the rears on the Caprice, but the fronts had to be removed. Might be the way the rears rolled down. Your Impala would be similar, I think. Anyway, thanks for the video.

    A word of warning: Make sure your wiring harness can handle 150 amps. The original wiring was not designed to carry that much load.

      The current is the same to the original loads. Anything else you add new needs to go directly to the battery and not the fuse box

    Very nice example you have there. My favorite year Impala is 1965. 1969 is number two.. Had a 69 Custom Coupe. 350 300hp with powerglide trans. I think 69 was last year for Powerglide. My 65 was was a 2 door coupe . 283 with Powerglide as well. Good memories

    My dad owned a 1965 Impala SS 396 Turbo 400 , complete with 8 track and cb. Dark blue with light blur interior. I was around 10 years old and my favorite thing was the vacuum gauge , that thing was amazing to me.

      @@ImpalaCadillacRestoModDIY I have owned both. The front and rear of the '65 is a little too squarish for the more modern side profile of that body style. The '66 is more refined, and the whole package is better is better integrated, making the lines flow more naturally. My '66 was the same color as your car. Post your email and I'll send you a photo.

    What a great car you have. I had a 1966 impala 30 years ago. It looked just like yours with the fast back roof. It had a 283 with the power glide transmission, but it was not a super sport. I like the them both. It is hard to pick the better one. I had an advertisement from life magazine of a 1965 super sport framed and hanging in my room as a kid. I always wanted the super sport!
