so Carter is only forced listening by music majors?
No. I just happen to love his music. Only had piano lessons while growing up, so I was exposed to classical music. I was amazed in high school when I discovered contemporary classical, including Carter as well as Cage, Stockhausen, Xenakis, Boulez, etc. Fell in love with their music and I had a particular fondness for Carter.
