So satisfying to watch and very clear and informative. I want to fly there for this surgery. I am terrified to have it done in Chicago. I am down to one pair of hiking boots I can wear. I am afraid mine will be unfixable if I wait much longer to do this.

I am 3 1/2 months post op on my left foot and 4 weeks postop on the right. I can definitely move the left foot been doing bending exercises and massage on the left foot and when I walk the big toe still wants to point upwards. Does this ever go away? Right foot is still bandaged up there’s alot of swelling still. I wear a compression sleeve on the left and wondering how much longer I need to do this.

I recently had the Bostrom procedure performed in order to repair a complete tear of the ATFL, bone spurs and another partial ligament tear. My surgery was last Monday, everything went well following the procedure until day 6. The Sunday following the procedure I was moving through the house and my crutch caught something, I lost my balance and momentarily placed ALL my weight on the toes of the operated foot while falling backwards. I don't believe I twisted or pivoted, there was not cracking, popping or snapping, but I did immediately feel pain (mostly burning) over the top of my foot. The night I tripped and the following day my pain had significantly increased. Today it has mostly subsided however, it still hurts more than it did all the way up until I tripped. My question is, what can happen if someone puts their entire body weight on the toes of their operated foot days after surgery? Realistically, what is likely to happen?

Just had bunion surgery on both feet here in Canada. My doctor told me pretty much nothing about exactly what procedure he would use. I got the ‘block’ which was good for at least 24 hours, but had significant pain after that. Alleviated pain with prescribed T3’s and ice. The thing is, I am in casts on both feet for a FULL six weeks. Why is this? Also the doctor did not ask to see me for the six weeks until my casts come off. Meanwhile, I am five weeks in and get some really painful twinging in my toe joints, which prevents sleeping. Can someone with knowledge explain why the twingeing and why the casts are on for six weeks? As far as I know, there was nothing unusual about the bunions, and it seems the long casting is normal practice for this doctor.

I wish I had seen his video prior to having Lapiplasty 5 weeks ago. I believe my bunion problem could have been solved with the first simple method you showed. Instead, I had the lapiplasty and have had the most horrible nerve pain ever. I am still in pain and have not been able to put weight on my foot yet. I am told recuperation will last 4 months but people tell me they have had pain and swelling for up to a year. I regret having had the surgery. P.S. I have had a total of 7 surgeries in my body and this has been the worse of all.

Wow, I’m so sorry to hear this! I’ve had many surgeries like you, for me major joint replacements, knee, shoulders, now hip which went and still is really hard to deal with. My bunions are bad, My feet hurt bad, my toes on both feet are crossed etc. My family wants me to get them done but,…. I’m terrified. I’m so sick of recovering from surgical pain!!! Ugh! I have to think this through a lot more!!!! I also have hammer toes. Ugh…… I hope you’ll be ok?!

Can I please ask ? I severed the top of my finger 2 years ago , it was unknown my bone had been chipped at the time . It took 8 months to get a splint . My hand has contracted , pain , thickened chords etc . Nerve test , x ray , ultrasound and mri show mild arthritis. However , I am still in pain , cannot bend affected finger and a nodule on my palm . How can all tests be clear but I am still affected ? At present I am being told it is basically in my head . I can actually see the thickened chords . Any insight please ?
