We installed a DIY Bluetooth speaker in the empty rear stowage box. We also added a custom 3d printed bed plate printed in ASA on our Ender 5 S1. Parts list we used are all listed below. we did only 3 mods to the rig. We relocated the battery placement to up front, changed out the wheel and tires to RCAWD 1.3 Cyberwheels and mounted up Little Guy Racing Products Swamp King MT tires! Battery life???
Not really sure. I was getting around 40 mins of play with it on the 1 battery charge I had. This belongs to a good friend of mine. I will reach out to him and get a life span on it for you.
I just got mine and did the same battery mod, works great but it doesn't allow the body to clip all the way which makes the body come unlatched a lot unfortunately. have you had that problem with yours?
No, the battery sits low enough on ours that the body doesn't pop off.

Thanks! The honcho body is based on the Metric body from Proline. So the cab portion of it is tundra like. You would only need to make a bed for it. Would be an awesome project. Keep me up on your ideas for it.

If you want a true upgrade for the basecamp look into the gmade 90mm droop shocks, make sure to not install the springs! they make this chassis an absolute killer on the rocks!!! 🪨

Such a shame these chassis are not un breakable
It's a plastic chassis, so adding that piece of 7075 aluminum to the bottom does wonders to the durability of it. Haven't broke a chassis yet with it.

I'm new to RC. Why does everyone buy a crawler and then change all the parts instead of building from scratch? It seems like a waste of money.
Some people get them for instant gratification and can play with them out of the box. Then buy upgrade parts as they go along with them. I do it bother way. Building them from scratch and upgrade them over time.

Was a furitek komodo not the micro. Furitek trans in it.
@SKHobbiesAZ thank u . I ordered all my parts. Ordered the furitek scythe v2 chassis. Going to use stellar transmission and komodo micro motor. I guess the big komodo won't fit on the v2... I like the look of the big motor;)

The SCX24 is not even close to as good as the Ascent-18 is out of the box. The FCX24s, like the Ascent-18, are really good out of the box. I moved the rx/esc to the front, removed the battery tray and 3D printed a 1965 Ford F100 body to replace that ugly Ascent-18 body. Added different wheels and tires and the Ascent-18 is amazing, but it was amazing out of the box as well. Great value for the price!

I just learned R7FG does not support digital servos (I only learned that from some RadioLink reply on Facebook - that information is nowhere on the product page, nowhere in the manual) honestly I am not sure I would purchase it they were transparent about it and I knew that in advance I have the original E-Revo Brushless TRA5608 still with the stock dual TRA2075 digital servos I just connected the R7FG and all is working but the servos seem kinda slow (but it's a long time I ran my RC car so maybe it's not really different) can this damage my servos not running them in the 3-4ms they are designed for but running them on 14ms instead? I guess I lose some servo speed and resolution at the very least
I don't think that will damage the servos, but I would reach out to the servo Manufacture and ask to be sure.

Great vid, LOVE the wheel and tires. I have quite a few crawlers at this point and the Ascent 18 is hands down the BEST out of the box mini crawler you can buy. With no mods this thing kills everything stock for stock and even some trucks with mods get schooled by the Ascent 18. All I've done so far is a set of brass wheels and some Injora sticky tires (forget the name at the moment)...SMOKES half of what I have in the garage, most of which is much more modded than the Ascent. BEST $100 you can spend in the crawler world.
Same here. I have 14 1/24 - 1/18 scale crawlers and this think ranks high on the list for performance. out of the box compared to the all the others, hands down beats them all!!! Thanks for watching!
