Wavetable #37 - Instruction Manual
Instruction Manual are a Glasgow-based audiovisual trio whose work explores post-internet aesthetics and digital nostalgia, combining classical, folk, and experimental influences.
Their latest project, The Instruction Manual, sees them create a choir of synthesised robotic voices, accompanying these digital voices with an eclectic mix of acoustic instruments: clarsach, singing saw, concertina, piano, and guitar. In an era where AI lets computers make music that sounds like it was created by humans, Instruction Manual are humans making music that sounds like it was created by computers. Their debut album - The Instruction Manual - was released on the record label Miúin (Ireland) in November...

Hailing from Manchester, Voxish makes a queasily textured, pallidly atmosphæred style of music they've come to refer to as northern breakdark. Moving away from mostly discarded synthpop industrial roots, the music they now produce and perform is at turns vibrant, cold, and densely detailed. feelingvoxish.bandcamp.com Visuals by linktr.ee/obakegaku

Amazing performance - it was a privilege to be there to watch / listen to this on the night. It was absolutely mesmerising.

Mr. Kirbinator! great performance, Simon 🙂👏👏👏
Why thank you kind sir!
Amazing 🍷☄️
Thank you! 🙏
Incredible, as always from Simon
Thanks! We miss you at Wavetable!
Excellent
🙏🙏🙏
Lovely kosmische pallette in the first half; loved when you pumped the gas on kirbinator for the second ❤
Thank you! Steven’s lovely visuals were perfect kosmiche accompaniment!
Sorry to have missed this in person. Phenomenal work! ❤
Very characterful songs. I was particularly excited by the voice of Ivor Cutler coming through the ether from the spirit world.
Lovely work. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Great work. Loved this set. Dynamic, vital, full of harmonic and textural variety. Thank you. I lost you for a couple of minutes when there was a lot of drop out stuff I didn't really comprehend but there's a lot of stuff like glitch that old people like me spent our youth trying to avoid as faulty cabling, interference and circuit noise.
next level!
Thanks! 🙏
Stunning. ❤ your mind shines like the Sun 🔥
🖤
Exciting and utterly mesmerizing!
This is trippy!
fantastic set!
Neat
Instrumental virtuosity is not a prerequisite for work with electronic media. Nevertheless, it is proudly displayed in this set. Warming up it is obvious from his manner behind the kit that he can play but bou can he play!
Delicious. Thank you.
Lovely and eerie sounds❤ 🔥 I kept waiting for You to play the wine glass like a singing bowl Lol😅
next time! 😂
@bitface11 👌 I'll keep checking out your works. 🙏
@justinhuffman2430 Thanks for listening :)

damn this track is fire!!!
I cant find enough of your works. ❤ 😊 listen listen 🎶
Stellar
very nice soundscape!
Really great. I've seen quite a few similar experimental performances using objects, but not many with that level of sophistication!
fantastic performance this
man, that's an intense session .......with so much compression....................so many cool moments.............
Man I love Simon’s stuff! Saw the video of the “shell” ensemble and then I went looking for his albums. Love his album “At Rahoy, the early light”. Such great music. What is his set up made up of in this video?
Thanks for the kind words! Here I'm using the Ableton Push standalone to play some physically modelled pluck sounds at the start, feeding them into the small modular system to add glitches and effects. The modular takes over more and more as the performance proceeds, and is controlled by a script I wrote for the monome teletype and grid controller on my right.
@@doublewah ahhh ok cool! I haven’t looked much into the world of midi controllers, you’ve used them though effectively! Haha I’m too much of a simpleton and just keep to my keyboards and the occasional sequencer haha
Beautiful!
Well this drove me to Bandcamp. Thank you! An authentic walk with the flying doctors.
Are you using Visor for the visuals?
Hydra. hydra.ojack.xyz
@@wavetableedinburgh8815 Thanks<3
That was really excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance. Does this group have any recordings together? Or is their plans in the future to record together?
We're currently rehearsing some new material for a gig later in the year. I'd like to think we'd be recording at some point, but there are no concrete plans to share as yet.
Oh awesome! It’s a great sound, it deserves to be recorded. Haha though I get with recording it’s easier said then done.
