Ellis is very, very smart. He always makes the right play, always diagnoses the moment, anticipates his opponents and teammates. He is maybe the most underrated player in the league rn.

Couple of things that makes Mike Brown's firing less surprising. 1) he lost 5 games in a row, not 6 (the 6th was under interim head coach Doug Christie - his 1st game). 2) the 5 losses were all at home (0-5 home stretch), and included back-to-back losses to the Lakers, a blowout loss to the then struggling Pacers, and a last-straw collapse against Detroit. 3) the last game Mike Brown won was a 2-point squeaker against the Pelicans. The Pelicans! 4) Inconsistent rotations is one thing- Mike Brown had a very short leash on his young players, like Ellis and Murray, one mistake and yank. 4) in 2022, the first Beam Team year, the Kings played a very fast and loose brand of offense. Last season, Coach Brown added complex schemes to the playbook- which some young, new and role players (e.g. Sasha Vezenkov) were struggling to execute flawlessly. Combine that with short leash, and no wonder players were having the yips. 5) Coach Brown doubled down on introducing more rigid schemes on both offense and defense as he tried to 'cover' DeRozan's defensive liabilities. This may be the initial schism between Front Office/Ownership and Coach Brown. Brown probably wanted Draymond (or Draymond-esque). Got DeRozan instead. 6) Doug Christie since coming in did 2 things: a) simplified the playbook - which allows the team filled with high BBIQ players like Sabonis, Fox, Monk and DeRozan use their skills instead of x's and o's to break down teams. And b) let players out of the doghouse, lifting the mood in the locker room. 6) The roster is built to what Ownership wants - a high-tempo, entertaining product to get on TV more often, because small market teams don't get much noticr otherwise. Coach Brown's schemes went against that. No TV = no exposure = no market value. Coach Brown is a great coach. He just no longer was the right one for this team - from Ownership down to the players. The owners canned him, and maybe GM Monte McNair didn't want to do it (because Brown just signed a contract extension), but Ownership was willing to burn millions to get him out. They must have seen how much more damaging to their investment keeping him was. Consider that.

The defense for the french national team is going to be insane. They're going to be able to have lineups with Traore, Risacher, Coulibaly, Sarr and Wembanyama at times, while still having Rudy Gobert, and they have an insane pool of players that they can choose from. Doumbouya is still a menace on defense and he has expended his offensive game in the french pro league, scoring over 21 points last season with great shooting splits. For context he was scoring 7 points in the same league before he got drafted, he's still only 23 and It was a bit of a shock that he wasn't selected on the national team. But there's a lot of players like Doumbouya that are falling under the radar because they don't get the same attention from the media.
