I love that there are more people other than me that like speedrunning obscure platformers! But unlike you, I like finding games for the ps2 or gamecube from the 2000s, when developers used to make pc ports as well. Like pitfall the lost expedition.

With this game running a modified Jedi Knight engine, I wonder if any of these glitches would transfer to that game

The editing in this video is unbelievably good. I love the timing bar that lets us know approximately how much time is saved per level. Just finished it. This is by far one of the best videos on the entirety of RUclips. It does so many things right I could make a 20 minute video just on the quality of this video. (I'm not exaggerating, I'm a critic like that). While I could write a 2k word comment on the various awesome story telling, visuals, explanations, and just great design choices like going back through all the levels right before the video ended or taking a bit of time to talk about the crazy Iceland coincidence, I don't want to write the 2k or more word comment this video deserves. I'm just gonna say this video is an absolute masterpiece. Great job.

I, for one, would have loved hearing about more of those cool little things. I honestly don't think you need to worry about the length of your videos - long-form videos actually perform quite well these days and I guarantee you won't hear your audience complaining about having more content.

Great video. I used to rent this game from Blockbuster as a kid and I never knew how deep it could be. Also, those monk enemies terrified me for some reason lol

Also finishing a game would always mean CREDITS ROLL, so I'd say it doesn't count if it crashes.

Couldn't you play even less levels by forging the 4 level keys instead? e.g. Why skip the 5th elevator in world 4 which has a key at 3 instead of skipping the 1st elevator in world 4 which has a key at 4? Wouldn't that save a level?

Massively underrated game! I'm enjoying the growing library of obscure runs you're documenting, so much game growth history is hidden away behind low sales stats. I would be lying to say that I know a lot of obscure DOS games, though. I just remember hundreds of games reviewed in NMS I never even saw at the store.

Great video! Never looked into this game so it was fun learning about all the tech for the Speedrun! The NA vs JP version is a tricky question. I think the best option is to choose what’s easier and more accessible to runners, since that would be healthy for the game’s community. So I would say allowing the softlock in the NA version would be better, since you don’t have to risk 40% of your runs dying to a crash. At least with the other version you’re guaranteed to finish the run, just skipping the credits essentially.
