The lyrics make more sense if you hear the whole album in order. I this track the protagonist , Owen Hardy, joins the circus to be close to a female performer only to beg set up by the Anarchist who tosses an unexplored bomb to Owen and he is run out of town.

The whole album is a banger! This was their first full concept album There is a storyline to check out.

Good job. A lot of people miss important things in the song and you got them all, which is even more impressive since it's a different culture for you. The whole Bat Out of Hell album tells a coherent story about a guy looking back on his life. Also, that's Karla DeVito in the video. Ellen Foley sang on the record but was not available to tour, so Karla took over. She's a great singer in her own right and as you can see does a spectacular job on stage.

You do know his name: Meat Loaf. "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" might be the next song chronologically in this story, though "Bat Out of Hell," "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth," "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad," or "For Crying Out Loud" would give you the backstory to this song. "Read 'Em and Weep," "Peel Out," "I'm Gonna Love Her for Both of Us," "Modern Girl," or "Surf's Up" are also good choices. And then you can dip into the modern Meat Loaf era! 😋🔥

Wonderful reaction to one of the most incredible performances ever committed to tape. And that riff that you thought sounded like a Led Zeppelin song, you were spot on. Jimmy Page is an unabashed fan of Jimi Hendrix and he used that riff for "No Quarter" a few years later.
