    Do you think you put sawdust/etc into the bucket after each #2? If so do you drop some through the #2 hole, or do you lift the service lid and then sprinkle some composting meterial? I also use Poo Powder in a bucket toilet. Do you recommend using this in the unit? Thanks

    • @SimplyDande
      @SimplyDande 7 дней назад

      Sawdust can go into the same hole as #2, no need to open the lid. No poo powder in the liquid bucket because you need it to pour out of a small hole and it will be difficult to do that if it's all congealed. I do recommend it!!

    25 plus years owning rvs and coaches, never ever had an issue with rodents. My husband knows if I EVER saw 1, that would be my last day in it. So to keep them out he made sure to check the RVs upon purchase to make sure there are no plumbing or wiring with any gaps. We NEVER left any food out ever. All our food was always stored, totally sealed or refrigerated. I am terrified of them more they are of me, so I did everything to keep them out, and It worked, because after every trip when we parked the rv in my rv garage my husband would place a slice of bread or cheese on the kitchen floor, never ever found not even a nibble missing. So, yes it is possible to keep your rv free of rodents if you keep food stored away and you look and seal any gaps. Fleetwood is notorious for leaving huge gaps inside the engine compartment. Turn all the lights out inside the rv and place a bright light inside the engine compartment you will see the light coming in through the dashboard floor. For whatever reason Fleetwood never seals those gaps.

    Thank you for a very thorough and helpful review. But I get nervous every time someone suggests using a composting bag for poop. Composting bags are made to compost, that is, they start breaking down and deteriorating when they are exposed to moisture. And even though the sawdust or coir or whatever you use helps dry it out, there will still be some degree of moisture. Depending on how long you let the poop sit before you dump it, you run the danger of having the bag fall apart when you pull it out. And nobody needs that to happen!! 🤮 I use them in my 5 gal food waste compost bucket in my S&B and I have to be careful about emptying it if it's been sitting a while. Just something to consider.

      I totally get that! I'll be bringing this minivan camping with me. I have a propane camping stove but while inside the van, the idea of an open flame scares me, so a small electric device like this is ideal. Very good job thank you. That took some work, organized and good writing and reading, i have had mine for a bit, i have not used the poo tank yet but just the urine tank. It does leak a little. I sometimes use water to rinse the pee bowl and find it splashes onto the poo door, so that is something to watch for. The top lid also comes off too easily. I had the same issue you had emptying the urine container, i put the holed cap into the cap holder on its top and when i dumped the tank that lid flew off, so dont take the holed cap with you when dumping and hold onto the holed cap or put it on the regular toilet's top during dumping. Also take a cup of water to rinse it out and the cap. I also find during emptying or rinsing the outside of the tank should be wiped. This dampness will enter the huge inner area of the toilet and needs to be wiped dry. There was a problem with the holed lid's gasket, they provide 2 to double it up. i find i have a little leak there somehow - still trying to figure that out. In terms of smell, with urine in my tank for over a week - ZERO smell. it's incredible. pee in a bottle, open the bottle - it smells. i think it has to do with the small opening and the lack of another hole - so there is zero air flow from the urine tank and the lid is closed - there is just no airflow to cause any smell to circulate. every use or 2nd use i spray the urine bowl with some lavendar scented countertop cleaner - as i have lots, and it seems to do the trick. sometimes i will rinse with water that i have in my dehumidifier. Other than the splash into the poo sliding door, no problem. This could be because it is dark and late or i am pouring from too high? One small pet peev is this sliding door is black. i think it should be orange or lighter so that if you are half asleep you can see it's there and needs to be moved. I hope i dont use #2 without sliding open that door, i can't imagine how difficult that would be to clean.

    • @SimplyDande
      @SimplyDande Месяц назад

      Thanks for your compliments and for sharing your experience. I'm glad you're enjoying the composting toilet. I think you've made some great observations that will be useful to others! I also found when I poured water into the pee tank to test the level that it would splash over if I did it from too high up. But during use, when I'm sitting, my body is lower and also creates more of a natural seal on the divider. I had some scale build up around the gasket and didn't notice a second gasket in my box. Great suggestion on making the slider a different color! You should write to them!

    I'm going to give you my thoughts. Short dresser and tall dresser switched them. Then at the end of your bed you could reach the short dresser for cooking area. I don't like the short dresser being right. Behind your driver's seat, because if you need to get in your driving seat to get out of an area where you feel uncomfortable, you don't have that choice because it's blocking it. I think you're getting the most room by having your bed over your seat. I would keep it there and work with the rest with different scenarios. Another cool idea that I saw on another page is making little cardboard templates of your dresser, bed, toilet, and things

      I really appreciate the feedback. If I have the bed over the passenger seat, I can get into the driver's seat easily that way, so I can have whatever I want behind the driver's seat. I'll keep playing with this. Thanks for the ideas!

    Have fun with the build. I converted a Promaster City cargo van into a micro camper a few years ago. I’m thinking of dolly towing it behind our new to us Class A that we just purchased. The idea is to use the Promaster as a daily explorer when we’ve ‘landed’ at a camp ground.

      I've thought of towing a vehicle behind my class A. Still considering it, especially for long trips. Usually if we're just within a few hours away, one of us will drive a car and the other will drive the RV.

    This is very smart way of working. I love the cat checking out the work.
